That's so funny because I was just asking my 13 year old cousin what her favorite book was and she said The Hunger Games, I went to look it up and then there was your comment.

Oh Alli-chan..."
You're my favorite K-chan!! I hope you're enjoying it...you're one of the people I'm pretty positive will enjoy it.
(wait, I expect EVERYONE to enjoy it...)
Misty, I can see why you fell in love with Wildwood Dancing! I'm at the point where I can't put it down! I have so much to do today and it's killing me because all I want to do is sit back and read this book! I can't wait until bedtime! I think I'm going to have to stay up extra late.
Loved Wildwood Dancing too. The audiobook was excellent and I kept making excuses to clean around the house so I could listen to it.
I have fallen in love with Anne. How could I have taken almost 40 years to read this book? Thank you, Allison:)

Kathy wrote: "Alright, you guys sold me on this book, Wildwood Dancing! It sounds so good! Thanks! :)"It's neat because at first you think it is a retelling of one tale, but it actually mixes in quite a bit: other fairy tales, mythology and eastern European folklore (and the language, which is neat). Definitely worth the read.
I'm currently reading Anne of Green Gables. I was going to start The Rover by Mel Odom, but wasn't in the mood for a YA fantasy.
I just finished Anne of Green Gables and am taking a very small YA break. Well, I will be finishing The Goose Girl on audio, which has considerably improved!
yeah, the middle sans-Edward section of New Moon sucks :P I was so obsessed with that series though, if (*cough* that is, when) I re-read them someday I'll probably just skip that part :D
Kandice wrote: "I just finished Anne of Green Gables and am taking a very small YA break. Well, I will be finishing The Goose Girl on audio, which has considerably improved!"*rushes off to see your rating and hopefully review*
Thanks for the encouragement everyone! It was my best friend who finally enticed me to pick up the series for the first time, and I love them so far! I don't think they're the greatest works of literature, but I can appreciate a good story, like anyone else. I'm pretty addicted! My best friend has also been telling me to just keep reading...which, I do gladly because I enjoy this series. :)
Jamie, you mentioned a book being a cross between Jane Austen and Harry Potter, so you might be interested in checking out Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I haven't been able to get my daughter interested in reading the original P&P, so I picked up this parody for her for her upcoming birthday. Haven't had a chance to read it myself.
I am reading Alpha Dog which should be a funny light-hearted book. And I started The Boy in the Striped Pajamas last night. I was feeling "eh" about it but it captured my attention rather quickly.
I'm reading the Uglies trilogy this summer; also just finished Stargirl and a book entitled Among the Hidden, the first in a series called the Shadow Children by Margaret Person Haddix. Anyone else familiar with this series? It's a bit below YA level IMO.
Linda - I've been wondering what Austen fans thought of P&P&Z. I love the original and I'm not sure how interested I am in reading it with the addition of zombies, but I'm open to checking out some reviews. Maybe it's better than it sounds?!
I'm reading Neptune's Children, which I should finish tonight. Then, if I don't pass out from blogging exhaustion - I will start Graceling.
Linda wrote: "I'm reading the Uglies trilogy this summer; also just finished Stargirl and a book entitled Among the Hidden, the first in a series called the Shadow Children by Margaret Person Haddi..."LOVED Uglies. Got me started on this whole Scott Westerfeld kick.

Well, I'm forced into reading Eternal today since it's due and cannot be renewed. :) Graceling will just have to wait another day.
Me, too, Kristen... I was going to read Alpha Dog but the library called with I, Coriander. So I'm reading that first. I need to read all the library books first and mine last.
i just finished Speak and Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson. They were both pretty good... I liked Speak better. Reading Slaughterhouse Five now.
Currently reading The Golden Compass. I am finding it much better than the movie which I didn't like at all.
Natalee wrote: "Me, too, Kristen... I was going to read Alpha Dog but the library called with I, Coriander. So I'm reading that first. I need to read all the library books first and mine last." I'm so bad for that that I wonder if I'm ever going to get to my own books...
Currently reading The Luxe, which came highly recommended by a few librarian friends, but though it's okay, I'm not seeing it.
Misty wrote: "Natalee wrote: "Me, too, Kristen... I was going to read Alpha Dog but the library called with I, Coriander. So I'm reading that first. I need to read all the library books first and mine last."..."I stopped buying and started "renting"!
Re: The Luxe - I had high hopes but it was just okay. I am a sucker for nice covers! But to me, I felt like I was reading Gossip Girl from another time period! It didn't have a lot of depth.
Linda Grace wrote: "Currently reading The Golden Compass. I am finding it much better than the movie which I didn't like at all."The Golden Compass is a great book. Are you going to read the other two books in the series?
Yes, I have all three at home from the library. I hope to finish them by the end of the month. I am enjoying The Golden Compass and am glad I picked it up.

I too picked this up because of the pretty cover (*looks sheepish*), but yeah, not too great a story - I guessed the 'twist' in the first chapter, and the rest of the book just seemed to be about describing every character's clothes in minute detail...
I'm reading two YA books at the moment, Mairelon the Magician, and Snakecharm.
Linda Grace wrote: "Yes, I have all three at home from the library. I hope to finish them by the end of the month. I am enjoying The Golden Compass and am glad I picked it up."I'm glad you like The Golden Compass. The other two books are very good as well.
Re: Josie and Natalee --Yep. That is exactly what I am feeling. I feel like she is borrowing heavily from Edith Wharton (whom I love), but Wharton was a master, so she's not so much pulling it off...
Finished Mates, Dates, and Inflatable Bras and Eternal today. I'm going to either start The Forest of Hands and Teeth and/or Graceling when I get home tonight. I'm way behind in the challenge because TNBBC's challenge is taking over my life!

Ohhhh, I've never read Edith Wharton but now you've peaked my interest! Which do you recommend I read first?
