Do any of you know/read any of the authors listed in the Goodreads Choice Awards for Romance? I read a LOT of romance, but I’ve never heard of any of those books or authors.

I read two of them and wasn't impressed with either of them. They were contemporary romance, single POV and just not my style. Neither made it to the final round. Christina Lauren is the only author I recognize and have read, but not the book nominated.

These nominations really have very little in common with the reality of what Romance readers are actually reading. I haven't voted in the past three years. It's rare that I even recognize a title nominated.

Same here…I don’t know how many people recommend, etc., but only once in all the years I’ve been at GR did I even recognize an author. Goofy.

Jane and Anita, I agree with both of you. I had not read any of the books nominated in the romance category. There is only one author among the nominations who I have read and that was Helen Hoang. I also agree that it appeared that the initially nominated books were of the contemporary sub-genre. Being curious, I did read Life's Too Short as it had over a 4.24 rating on GR. It was an ok read (4 stars for me), but nothing fantastic. It didn't make it to the final round.

Publish & Perishby Sally Wright.
This was a reread for me. It’s a character driven Historical Mystery set in 1960 with flashbacks to WWII. The main char is a College Professor archivist, former Army Calvary Scout. This is more than a Mystery with thought provoking elements. Book #1 in a 6 book series, pub 1997. This is a series I enjoy rereading over time - a favorite.
