Allison (inconceivably) hmm...don't think I've been to Frederick's.

The only bras I've ever found at VS that fit me have underwires :( I bought a couple anyway cause they're so cute! LOL...I just make sure I won't be wearing them for long when I do (uh...take that how you want to I guess :P TMI?).

message 102: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) The only Frederick's store I went to didn't have much of a selection, but it was in a New Jersey mall and it was small. (Also in the middle of a huge sale.) Apparently they offer much more through the mail. The salesgirl also told me I looked like an F and I almost choked.

message 103: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) lol!

message 104: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments Yeah, those stores tend to run small. I can't buy at at VS at all because they don't hold my size.

message 105: by April (new)

April (booksandwine) | 312 comments Can I just say, I love buying lingerie. Frederick's and Victoria's are some of my favorite stores. I swear I'm not a skank, it's just empowering to buy pretty undergarments...

Oh, and I'm the same size as Fiona and Jennifer, I never have any trouble finding anything that fits.

message 106: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments I like Victoria's Secret, too. For Mother's Day my 8 year old made a book for me that contained pictures of my pets and some flowers also contained a picture of Victoria's Secret. It made me laugh and then he said he knew that was a store I liked to go to when I was with friends at the mall. He's never been in there but he's seen me come home with bags from there.

Ditto. I just don't wear button-down shirts anymore. The thing I hate is bras that don't support. Bras without underwire are completely out of the question. I've been buying Champion bras lately. They have extra support (since they're a sports-wear company), but they aren't all actual sports bras. I've been pretty happy with them.

Oh, FYI - If you go up a size around, you can go down a cup size. So I've been buying 36C lately, instead of 34D, which is nearly impossible to find. (Plus, honestly, I've gained weight, and really am not a 34 anymore...)

message 108: by [deleted user] (new)

Sara I have the same problem! I was 34D before I was married and wore 36C. Now, I have an even harder time because I wear a 36DD, which is still hard to find, but I really should be 34 around and 34DD which is impossible to find is too small anyway (don't know what size that actually makes me...)

message 109: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments If I couldn't figure out which size I was, I'd probably get a bra fitting. *shrugs* I'm not really sure how that works, but... I'm pretty sure Victoria's Secret does them...

message 110: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I have a small ribcage, 34, but a large cup size DDD so it's hard to find. I can buy a 38DD, but then I have to sew the back strap way smaller so I don't fall out the bottom all day. I hate buying bras!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) I think part of it is knowing what bra lines cut large or small.

message 112: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments It's true. And then just trying a bunch on. Get one that is the size you think you are, and one that's a size smaller, one that's a size larger, and just try them on until you find one that fits.

message 113: by Natalee (new)

Natalee (nataleem00) | 459 comments Kandice, I am opposite... large rib cage and small cup. It's hard to find ones over 36 in an smaller cup size. Just because I have small boobs doesnt mean I am petite every where else, too!!

message 114: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha I didn't think so many peopel had the same troubles as me! I like to buy bras online because my husband hates shopping, especially for clothes and I don't like using fitting rooms too much. I used to work in a clothing store for 5 years, another reason why I don't like to go in. It's just harder to return when you purchase online...

message 115: by Natalee (new)

Natalee (nataleem00) | 459 comments I hate shopping too... maybe that's why I can't find a bra that fits.

message 116: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha yeah... I worked at JCPenney and they did bra fittings every 6 months or so, but I never did one... why be there when I don't have to be?

message 117: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) If you go up a size, do you add a cup size? I have 44DD bras right now, but they don't fit well anymore. I am now a 46. Does that mean I am now a 46DDD?

Hehe, I just hope no guys come on here to rant! (I wouldn't care, personally, but they might blush)

Since we're talking about bras.. I don't have any trouble finding my size, but I do have the above mentioned problem of straps getting loose and falling down, so I bought one of those criss cross strap bras, and love it! However, I lost it a few weeks ago (it fell behind the bed) and was going frantic trying to find it. My boyfriend couldn't figure what all the fuss was about, it was just underwear to him!

message 119: by Natalee (new)

message 120: by Natalee (new)

Natalee (nataleem00) | 459 comments I like new clothes. I just dont like looking for them. Too bad I don't have lots and lots of money and can afford a personal shopper. That would be so nice. Can they pick up the groceries, too??

message 121: by [deleted user] (new)

Randi, when I go up in size on the measurement, the cup size goes down. If that's too small, maybe a 46DD would work

I have a little rant (non bra related). I came home yesterday morning to find my downstairs neighbor and a friend of hers digging around in the ground in front of my house. There's a little patch of dirt (literally 1 foot by 2 feet) and I had planted some Morning Glory vines and some little flower seeds. I couldn't weed well because I didn't know what the seeds would look like. Anyway, when I got home, the neighbor and friend had dug the whole thing up. I even had put up a cheap little plastic fence to keep people from accidentally stepping in it. Now all my seeds are gone, all the money I spent on peat pots and tools is wasted. I didn't say anything because by the time I got home, the damage had been done, so nothing could be gained. 1 more reason to start saving for a home of my own, I guess... Thanks for listening!

message 123: by Natalee (last edited May 19, 2009 05:15PM) (new)

Natalee (nataleem00) | 459 comments Ahhh, both would be awesome. Please let me win the lotto.

Let's throw a hairstylist in there too! I don't even have time to cut my hair on a regular basis. Plus its going gray and I am only 34. Or 35... I can't remember. GREAT! The memory is going already, too.

Hehe, maybe they're (guys lurking) secretly thrilled to finally get to see what women talk about when in a group. IT'S NOT AS TOP SECRET AS YOU THINK!!! Hehe!
Personally, I don't mind shopping, but I would love to have someone clean my house and do my dishes without losing my things!

message 125: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments That's horrible Jennifer! We have a secret pooper in our building and there's now a notice up talking about "deification" when half our building most likely doesn't speak english.. so we'll see if the dog poop issue goes away.

Argh, that really sucks. I would have asked them what they thought the cute little plastic fence was there for. What were they doing anyway?

message 128: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) According to "bra ladies" (like Linda) it is really very important to get fitted and wear the right size. 85 percentage of women do not wear the right size and it makes a difference in how you feel and how you can wear the rest of your clothing. Last summer I finally admitted to myself that I'd gone up to a 34DD and I went to VS. I got fitted, but I also tried on a ton of bras, nearly everything they had in my size. The salesgirl was SO nice, I sought out her manager afterward to sing her praises. I found two styles I really like, and it has made buying clothing a lot easier, too. I highly recommend getting fitted and wearing the right size.

On a side rant, I watch What Not to Wear obsessively. Recently I've been seriously trying to apply what I've learned and I've finally been happy with the results. I decided it was time to stop looking like a teenager in T-shirts and jeans and start looking like a "grown up lady." (I also cut off 11 inches of my hair during the winter because it kept me looking too young.) A guy in my class yesterday finally commented on it. Since I'm only one of two girls in my year in my program no one ever really notices when we do something different with our hair or get new shoes. (I miss that about B&N, and even high school, when I was largely in the company of women and gay men.) So I know my wardrobe change must be noticeable.

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments I just made a fool of myself calling about a job interview. Basically, I didn't know who had called me at the school and ugh... anyways. I'm very frustrated and super nervous about this interview now.

C, I don't know! I don't think they planted anything, they just dug everything up. It looks great, except that my flowers are gone!

Alexis, I love What Not to Wear! I don't have cable at my house, so I watch it whenever I go to my dad's. I should apply the rules myself.

Alexis (alexabexis) Kristen wrote: "I just made a fool of myself calling about a job interview. Basically, I didn't know who had called me at the school and ugh... anyways. I'm very frustrated and super nervous about this interview ..."

You're probably thinking about the incident way more than they are. Just show them how awesome you are when you're there in person. :)

I have an interview tomorrow, too. It's just for a summer internship, but I need to get my resume and portfolio together. I'm fairly certain my resume is updated...

message 132: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments I'm feeling better about it now. Tuesday at 12:30.. ugh. Hopefully I can find a decent sub to cover me for the second half of the day.

message 133: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) Computer rant: My resume is on my laptop that might have a virus. Of course it's the one folder I never backed up or e-mailed through Gmail. So I need to redo my resume tonight, and then hopefully the printer will cooperate. I'm also worried about my portfolio pieces. I have no idea what they're really looking for, and I don't have good prints of new artwork.

Interview rant: I'm trying not to worry about it. I really want to show that I'm competent so I don't get stuck doing the more menial intern tasks. It's a photography company, so I'd like to be able to go on shoots or prep for retouching. I might not take it if all they want me to do is make phone calls and file. (It's unpaid.)

message 134: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments Good luck, Alexis. I know you're going to do very well on your interview. It's obvious from your posts on here that you're very well spoken.

message 135: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments Oye... I'm going to have to worry about this interview stuff soon..... I'm NOT excited....

message 136: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) Thanks, Beth! I think it went well, but both the interviewer and I are worried about whether it's the right fit. I could do an awesome job there, I'm sure of it, but I'm not sure it will advance my portfolio in any way. And I really wanted to get away from customer service and administrative work. I just want to do art, since I'm not getting paid. But it does look like a very cool place to work. So I'm undecided. At least it gave me an excuse to wear one of my new summer dresses, even if only for an hour.

message 137: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I had an all around crap day. No particular rant, just...blah! I do have to say, the few smiles I exprienced were due to GR, so thanks.

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments My place is a mess. I don't want to clean though.. my fiance doesn't want to clean. Hrm.

message 139: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) This is kind of a rant. I just had to call the police about 20 minutes ago because I heard a woman screaming in front of my building. I stuck my head out the window and saw a lady kneeling on the sidewalk with all her stuff on the floor, and three guys holding this one guy back. There were a bunch of people around them, and more watching, but I called 911 right away because that's what I do when I hear a woman screaming at 10 o' clock at night. I always think about Kitty Genovese in these cases. Right after I hung up the guy was still yelling and it looked like he was trying to get to the lady even though people were getting between them so I yelled "I called the police!" out the window and then stuck my head back in. The police came, but I don't know what happened. I want to go down and ask the doorman but I'm waiting a little while. But seriously, WTF?! I'm just so glad people went and helped this woman instead of getting stuck by the "bystander effect." That's why I always call the cops. It's what my mom did when there was a gunshot or something while I was growing up. Never assume that someone else will call.

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments How scary! You did the right thing.

message 141: by April (new)

April (booksandwine) | 312 comments Kristen, don't know it. Cleaning sucks, we're moving out of my apartment into a trailer (eek, oh well at least it's got a roof and doors that lock) so we have to wipe down all the baseboards, spackle the nailholes, wash the windows, deodorize my dirtbag roommate's room, and pack. Cleaning sucks I'd much rather read/fritter around on goodreads.

I know what you mean, kind of! I just went to the doctor and was told that I have half of a flu/cold. I'm not sick enough to stay home, just sick enough to go about my day feeling not great.

I hope your neck feels better today.

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments The school district I now work in is going to be a mess next year. The librarian I work with will now be doing two school libraries (our 5/6 and the 7/8) and we are now sharing a Principal with our 7/8 building. *sigh* I really now hope I get the job I went for.

message 144: by Natalee (last edited May 29, 2009 02:00PM) (new)

Natalee (nataleem00) | 459 comments Wow, Kristen, your school district is going to be wacky!! Speaking of, my daughters told me due to lack of funding they are cutting back on electives next year. The elementary school is cutting art. And my oldest daughter's Jr High is cutting Fine Arts, Musical Theater, and Home Ec. I was so surprised to hear that. :(

Crossing my fingers for you... hope you get the job!

message 145: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) The arts are always one of the first things to get cut. :( Kristen, I'm sorry to hear work will be getting more stressful. I hope you get good news about the new job.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) I think one of the local schools (forget which) actually got increased help from parents after they cut sports as well as arts. It "got their attention," as they say.

message 147: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments It's just sad is all, I mean the principal on the 7/8 side is great, but they basically decided to not fill two very important positions when the people retired. Which basically means we're financially in a bad place. I'm crossing my fingers to get a call next week about the job I applied for in a different district.
