I've wanted to read House on Mango Street forever, but never enough to select it over other options. I ought to get over my inertia, check it out and read it in Q1.

I am reading The Hunting Gun by Yasushi Inoue. It has nothing to do with hunting or guns, and is an epistolary book about an affair.

Well, I didn't reach my goal of 35 books to read. By the end of this day I would have read 30 books - 80%. Not bad. I could have completed the goal but I discovered that I was reading for the sake of completeness and not for fun or even understanding. Happy New Year everyone and good reading.

Finished listening to the The Friday House audio book by D.K. Gaston. I read the Kindle edition in 2011 and was pleased to find this on Audible. Great story!

I finished I Never Had it Made- Jackie Robinson's autobiography. And started The Warmth of Other Suns. Loving it so far. I love how in the introduction Wilkerson compares the great migration to Jewish immigration from Eastern Europe. Making it more meaningful for me.

Mama Day was an excellent book. When I heard she passed away, I wanted to read The Men of Brewster Place. I actually got it from the library, and didn't get the chance to read it before it was due back. I may try again this year. I hope you enjoy Mama Day.

The book starts ratcheting up in the second half and becoming increasingly powerful, I think.

I just finished Mudbound. I was recently at the Underground Railway Museum and the lady in the bookstore recommended it to me. I'm glad she did. It's a book that will definitely stick with me.

And, the bookclub I meet with just discussed To Kill a Mockingbird. I didn't re-read it because I had so many other things going on. But, a lot came back to me, and it was an excellent discussion.
