Lagoon by Nnedi Okorafor
This will probably be my favorite book by her
Mycroft Holmes by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
A very entertaining addition to the historical mystery genre.
I am currently listening to:
All That Followed by Gabriel Urza
Interesting - This is my first book set in the Basque Country and is based on true events.

Now moving on to The Grass Dancer by Sioux author Susan Power which seems a good place to go from The Turquoise Ledge

Also listening to The Years of Rice and Salt audio book by Kim Stanley Robinson

Now I'm reading The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives
I've read a lot of literature by Nigerian women this year and it's been great

I am reading:
Free Men: A Novel by Katy Simpson Smith
The Tears of Dark Water by Corban Addison
I just finished reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. I wasn't a big fan of the book...I gave it two stars. I'm currently looking for a book that will a great read. I havent had a book that blew me away since The Book Thief. Any suggetions?

Londa Coffee will make you black is one of the first books that I've read in middle school (when I probably shouldn't have been reading it). I loved that book. Are you enjoying it as well?

I have enjoyed his books but even though I am only at the beginning if this book follows through with the exciting beginning it will be in my top ten reads for 2015. I am looking to rearrange some things this weekend so I can listen more. :)
Also listening to The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin. This is the first book in a new series and I think this is her best series yet. Great worldbuilding and I am catching glimpses of Octavia Butler in this storyline.

So what are you in the mood to read? What type of book are you looking for?

and listening to the audio book of Bitter Harvest by Michael R. Hicks

This was a book I recently finished. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

idk that's the thing. I'm kind of in the mood for some good historical fiction dialict or maybe some time travel.

Here are a couple of historical fiction books - they are all over the board
Night in Shanghai
The Orenda
Rose Under Fire
Paradise Sky
The Headmaster's Wager

Jealous... I can't wait to read this.
I'm reading Almanac of the Dead by Leslie Marmon Silko which is amazing. I just started on the 'Africa' section which has an African American character who is a Vietnam veteran who is critically/appreciatively recalling and furthering his AA studies in college. He has connected with African religious beliefs too. This book is like Ceremony in that it deals with European exploitation of the 'Americas' but it's much more wide-ranging, obviously extending to the theft of people from Africa. What I'm enjoying in this section is how Silko describes that African people found that their gods had come to the Americas with them, but had changed, generally becoming angry and more pugilistic because of the treatment of their people

Zanna -
I see I will be adding Almanac of the Dead to my reading list. I did read Ceremony years ago and remember my daughter "taking" my copy of Almanac for a college project!
11/22/63 -- I'm enjoying, but having a hard time FINDING TIME to read. lol
Madame Bovary -- waiting on this one to pick up...
Of Mice and Men -- haven't opened this one yet, but it is on the night stand...so technically i'm reading it. lol

Interesting reading!
Will be interested in your final thoughts on Madame Bovary - it was not quite what I expected though the concept appeals to me.

Now reading Genesis by Andreas Laurencius.

I am currently reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards though I had to take a break because my cousin thought it would be funny to tell me specific details of this book that I hadn't yet read. Really pissed me off. So I had to take a break from it. Now I think I'm gonna pick it back up today.

I read only nonfiction for several years. This is the book that made me fall for fiction again. Such an adorable read and I've been waiting for the author to write something else. Favorite quote, “The ghetto looks different in different places but if you live there it makes you feel the same.”

The author is a Black Canadian writer.
I am about 25% into the book and really enjoying..
When Hermes and Apollo make a bet about human happiness, they grant 15 dogs staying at a veterinary clinic the power of human consciousness. The dogs instantly become divided between those who prefer their old dog ways and those who want to take advantage of their newfound increased intelligence. What unfolds is a powerful story about what it means to have consciousness, and the good and the bad that comes with it.
Fifteen Dogs won the 2015 Scotiabank Giller Prize.
Native Son -- OMG!!! I'm only done with the first part and I seriously don't wanna put it down! lol
Room -- Just started this audiobook this morning, but I can feel the tears coming already
The Fishermen --- only one chapter in
Eyes Like Mine -- starting off kinda slow for me, i'm hoping it picks up soon.
