Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I don't mean to appear stupid, but what is a manga?

message 52: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I agree with you, Fiona. This group is really opening up my horizons.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Perpendicularandi wrote: "I don't mean to appear stupid, but what is a manga?"

Manga is, I believe, Japanese comic books/graphic novels.

message 54: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) That's true. There is no way I am going to plow through what I have now, so I might as well add ones I'm really going to read.

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments Becky is right on the ball. It's a type of style really, mostly from Japan, Korea, etc. There's some American manga as well. Generally manga is read opposite of a regular book.. takes a while to get used to. Some are "americanized" to read like a normal comic book.

Oh, see I didn't even know that.

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments Well I'm a super geek when it comes to comic books I guess hehe. Which is funny because I never read them until I took this one Literature class in college a few years back.

message 58: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) Thank you, Becky and Kristen, I've been wondering that for a little while. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

message 59: by Kate (new)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) Goodness gracious, there are 84 messages in the last 6 hours! That is amazing! I always thought of LHoP as historical... but that is just me. My mom read them to me and my sisters when we were younger. It was great!

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments I have a concern! We're calling "WILD THINGS" and our logo is the epitome of BORING! We need a new logo!

*WOW! http://www.usps.com/communications/ne...
* http://www.bfcsignsandmore.com/Wild%2...

NO, NO, NO! I found it:

What do you think? (I love google...)

message 61: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I like the first one - we thought about doing something like this, but we didn't want newcomers to see the logo and think the group is filled with a bunch of kids discussing children's books. So we thought about putting the monster with a walker or a cane....hee hee...

But I do like your idea Sara, we're in the process still on the picture, just didn't want it to hold up the opening.

message 62: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments (Ignore the fact that that TOTALLY looks like a romance novel...)

message 63: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Wow - just saw that picture just now with the glasses....may be a bit too girly, but other than that I love it.

Fiona??

message 64: by [deleted user] (new)

I like the picture with the glasses.

message 65: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) *whispers*

You know, Fiona, Jon said he's good at Photoshop - maybe he could change the color? Is that the only thing you don't like?

message 66: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments I forgot about your hatred of Pink.... :( Sad!

message 67: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) well that picture looks like we're discussing romance novels or something :P I do think its cute, though. Just doesn't look "YA"

message 68: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments Maybe we should have a competition! We can take our own pics and then choose our logo from there?

message 69: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) A competition sounds like a plan.....

message 70: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Jon is Jon is!

message 71: by Laura (new)

I love the glasses--they're snarky. Maybe if we could change the color and make the book look more like.... I CAPTURE THE CASTLE, say... ;)

message 73: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments Awww... I almost had her! ;) I don't know... ... I do love that little Where the Wild Things Are monster....

message 74: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) maybe Jon can photoshop him into a power suit :P lol.

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

message 76: by [deleted user] (new)

Simple...

message 77: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) :)

That would be nice! May take a bit of a photoshop miracle tho.

message 78: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments The Wild Things monster is so cute!!!! It's always been one of my favorite books!

message 79: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) It is cute, I'd love to incorporate him. If we could put him in a suit, or maybe have him carry a briefcase??

We'll have to ask Jon.

message 80: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) well so are you, but you're still loved.

message 81: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I really like it! You made him look er...cheerful almost.

message 82: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) He needs a briefcase, or maybe a tie??

message 83: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I like what you did with him so far.

message 84: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Where the wild things are Pictures, Images and Photos

There are books in this one.

Kandice where the wild things are Pictures, Images and Photos

This one, I just like. It looks like an adult monster with Max, and it's NOT a cartoon.

message 90: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) omg, I love the monsters with books PLEASE can we use that one?!?!?!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) The monsters with the books is a great one!
