Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I love the variety here too, Karey. This is such a great group.

Just goes to show that being a YA reader does not automatically mean that one has poor taste in reading material. We can read, appreciate, and even love a wide range of books not written by Dr. Seuss, haha! ;)

Debbie Folder...YA - Coming of Age?

I "host" a mother/daughter book group (the girls are entering 8th grade (U.S.)...and we have been gathering since the end of 4th. I love what you all offer here!

message 203: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Will do!

JG (Introverted Reader) Welcome, Lily! Do I see Hoops & Yoyo in your profile pic? My husband loves those little guys!

We do have a welcome folder. You can just start a new thread in the Introductions folder.

Renee (elenarenee) | 82 comments Oh I love those card chars

message 206: by Bhumi (new)

Bhumi | 274 comments I second the YA series folder.

message 207: by A. (new)

A. (aekirk) | 16 comments I like the idea of a YA Series folder. What about a Paranormal folder or do you consider that covered with the Fantasy/Sci-Fi folder?

message 208: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I think I'm happy with those being under the umbrella of Fantasy.

message 209: by Lia (new)

Lia Keyes (liakeyes) I third the YA series folder and also a paranormal folder. It may be a subgenre of fantasy, but it's certainly not sci fi, and a lot of die-hard fantasy fans don't really go for the paranormal thing. They want classic, undiluted fantasy.

Lia

I agree, I'm one of those die-hard fantasy/sci fi fans but never been interested in paranormal activity.

Lydia (loverofinformation) | 596 comments Fiona, we also don't have a horror/gothic folder. When I read Tithe, I considered it horror/gothic, but apparently it is not classified that way. It would help for challenges if descriptions did have folders, especially when asked to read a genre we're not familiar with and may see differently. (Where is the group input folder? I did look, but is it inside of another?)

Is this the folder you meant?

message 212: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresainohio) How about a folder for Tv Shows?

message 213: by Koori no hi (new)

Koori no hi TV shows sounds ok, but this is a book group, maybe if they're based off books. Then we could compare the book to the movie/series on TV.

message 214: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) Fiona, I am in contact with Maria V. Snyder (author of Poison Study) and I was wondering if you would like me to see if she would do a Q&A for this group? Just a thought.

message 215: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) I'll email and see what she says and let you know :D

message 216: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) Sorry for the delay – I was actually on vacation for a week – I still wrote, but the scenery had changed J

It’s good to hear your group enjoyed Poison Study – I’d be happy to do a Q&A with them. Just send me the questions and a tentative deadline. Do you want to do a giveaway as well? Maybe a copy of Inside Out?? Let me know.

- - - - -

Thats what she said. So do you want to open a thread for questions and I'll collect them after a time and send the mto her?

message 217: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Oh goodie!! I'm just starting Magic Study. I'll think of something to ask her. :)

message 218: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I'll let Fi know Kyle. Thanks!!!

message 219: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I set up a new thread in the Authors section, thanks again Kyle!

message 220: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 74 comments Could we have a thread built for Mockingjay? I'm sure a lot of us readers have the book cracked open RIGHT NOW. I will within the next two days (finishing off Fire atm).

I'm excited to talk about the series though!

message 221: by Becky (last edited Aug 24, 2010 07:38PM) (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Tanja, you can always create a new thread, as long as it goes in the correct folder. :)

Just make sure to mark spoilers in the thread and not post to your feed... (I'm avoiding my update feed and Twitter completely so that I avoid spoilers on MJ! LOL)

Edit: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3... I went ahead and created it... LOL

Ronyell (rabbitearsblog) | 95 comments I have a question about the advertising section and I was wondering if you can advertise a group that is on Goodreads, because I wanted to advertise my groups on Goodreads, but I wasn't sure where to put it or if it is allowed.

message 223: by Ronyell (new)

Ronyell (rabbitearsblog) | 95 comments Thanks Fiona!!

message 224: by [deleted user] (new)

I am not sure if this is where to post this info--but the name of my book club is Adults that can't hide their inner teen diva anymore--- so come and check it out!

message 225: by John (new)

John Rykken (totenking) "Inner Teen Diva." I like it. I'm picturing purple sequined dresses, champagne, and Diana Ross letting loose in the background.

Anyway, I'm John. If you have a moment, please check out my book, Bloodwood, in which best friends Max and Lydia travel to the cold, dark north in search of a missing girl and hidden vampire town. It's a fast, light-hearted adventure that packs an emotional punch.

I like your Oscar the Grouch icon :-) Come to think of it, I really like the name, Fiona, too. Makes me think of a freckly, dark-haired Irish woman with green eyes, sitting near a cold stream in a field on a sunny day.
