Pierre Delerive (pierredelerive) | 9 comments Hi Leslie. What I just wrote disappeared, so I'm starting again. Sorry if you already received this. As I was saying, what I find interesting is Ishiguro's life story. Having left his native Japan at the age of four when his father took a job in London, he never returned to Japan. Instead, he went to university, became one of the best British writers together with Rushdie and Amis, and ended up winning the Nobel prize for literature. He's best known for "The remains of the day" but I like "Never let me go" as well. I don't know if writers of that caliber make me want to keep on writing or maybe just give up, for the bar is too high. Actually, it's not true, I know I have no choice; we'll just never be in the same league.

Thank you for telling me more about Ishiguro. I know what you mean, about 'the bar being too high', so there's no point in trying to write myself! I will definitely check out his books.

This book is a memoir about the Covid-19 experience of this family. It is a great read, particularly since we are still amidst the pandemic. This book highlighted the swiftness of how things played out. It definitely teaches us to value every moment. I would consider this a must read.

message 5934: by Michael (new)

Michael Hunter McVay (michaelhuntermcvay) | 2 comments These three books are fully centered around LGBTQIA+ issues with love, lust, betrayal, heartache, passion, torture, joy, and pain. Written with just enough humor, and a tinge of sarcasm in the right places, plus inspiration from the heart for anyone who has ever felt different. Take a wild ride on the complex PTSD slide. A southern train wreck with happy endings.
