hi I am also new, so nice to know you are enjoying thomas hardy.
Dorchester in Dorset is near my home town and now I live further away whenever I hear a thomas hardy on the radio it makes me think of home :)

Hi and welcome AH! Glad you've joined! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here! Happy reading! :)

Hi AH and welcome to the group. Hope the group will be the inspiration you need to get started on the classics.

I'm Hailee. I live in the UK and work as a Library Advisor for a UK university. I love reading classics but often find myself delaying reading them, especially the longer reads which is weird because really long books are some of my favourite reads as you really have time to get to know and care about the characters. So I'm hoping this group will enable me to keep on track with the long classics on my TBR.
One of my favourite ever books is Pride and Prejudice ands I am determined to read the Count of Monte Cristo during 2017 as it has been sitting on my shelf staring at me for way too long now.
I'm looking forward to joining in some discussions with all of you :-)

Thanks Pink. I'm definately thinking about reading the Lord of The Rings with you as hopefully reading it with this group will stop me from reading the first one and then leaving it so long to read the next that I've forgotten everything!

Thanks. So many people have told me that they have enjoyed it so thats promising. I've never read the Three Muskeeters but if like The Count of Monte Cristo I might give it a go just so I can compare them myself.

Hi and welcome Hailee! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here! We ready an array of books and have really good discussions. So jump in and happy reading! :)

Thanks, and yes I'll definately join in the buddy read. Sound fun and I'll complete my 'resolution' early in the year :-)

Welcome to the group Hailee! Do read The Count of Monte Cristo -- it is one of my favorites. So glad that you joined us.

Your problem with the Count sounds quite familiar to me - I've been putting it off again and again. (I must confess I did not manage to keep up with the group read back then ... )
But as you sound more determined than me, I'm sure you will be fine ;)
We just did "Pride and Prejudice" last month ...

Lilly - Yes I saw that I missed the August read of P&P but I am doing a buddy read (reread for me) of it in November over on another goodreads group that I'm a member of so still get to read it. Plus its a nice book to read just before christmas.

I would have been disappointed to miss out on a discussion of my favourite book the way it happened to you ...

Heyyyyyyyy!!! Welcome, my bestie. You will fit right in here. Thanks for joining me. Now go to the polls and vote on what we should read for the upcoming months. Yayayay!!!!

Wow! A desire to reread that big a book that quickly after finishing it is a pretty big compliment to the book! Glad I'll have the option to read it soon with people.

Welcome to the group, Megan. So glad you joined us. I am a retired mathematics teacher & love SciFi also - and this group and taught me to love classic books!

Hi and welcome Megan. Glad you decided to join us to read more classics and to have great discussions with members on those books! Enjoy yourself and happy reading! :)

I also have a bias towards sci-fi
3 books of which I was unaware until recently (that I found on classics lists) that I can highly recommend are:
A Voyage to Arcturus
The Stars My Destination
Roadside Picnic

Hi and welcome Audrey! I'm sure you'll be motivated to read more classics here! It's hard not to be! Enjoy yourself and happy reading! :)

I'm Marie from Germany.
I'm studying law and am currently in my finals period, so unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to read (except law books obviously^^).
I was inspired by Rory (from the series Gilmore Girls) to read more classics and I'm looking forward to doing so with all of you. :)

Hi and welcome Marie! We're glad you're here to read and discuss classics with us! I'm sure it will be welcome break from your law books! Enjoy and happy reading! :)

That's one thing I don't miss about university - the guilt you feel for reading something that isn't relevant to your course ;-)

Welcome Marie, I'm glad that you have joined us and hope you can fit in a classic or two between reading & studying for your finals.

I'm Zuzana and like Marie, I was inspired by Rory to read some classics! What a coincidence :) I'm looking into reading some Russian classics, I got War and Peace but I have a feeling it might be too much to introduce me to the world of classics.
Other than that, I am a Psychology graduate currently working as a Web Developer. I'm looking forward to joining you in one of your read-alongs.
