"What a beautiful, beautiful book!
The haunting story of a young woman and the traces she left in the memories of others ...
It is one of these books you do not want to put aside, one of the riddles you do not want to leave unsolved. ..."

"I liked part 1 quite a lot. Looking at the table of contents for part 2, I get a feeling there is no strong underlying concept for structure, like the pilgrm's progress in part 1. But as I read only the first chapter, it is too early to judge part 2 in any way." Dec 08, 2018 12:18AM

Tamora Pierce
“What do all my taxes pay for if monsters with daggers for teeth can land atop my castle and charm my little ones into giving away my shirts? Not to mention leave a stink behind them that took three rounds of scrubbing to get out of the stones!”
Tamora Pierce, Tortall: A Spy's Guide

Neil Gaiman
“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
Neil Gaiman, Coraline

T.S. Eliot
“We die to each other daily. What we know of other people is only our memory of the moments during which we knew them. And they have changed since then. To pretend that they and we are the same is a useful and convenient social convention which must sometimes be broken. We must also remember that at every meeting we are meeting a stranger.”
T.S. Eliot, The Cocktail Party

Neil Gaiman
“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up.”
Neil Gaiman, The Sandman, Vol. 9: The Kindly Ones

E.E. Cummings
“For whatever we lose (like a you or a me),
It's always our self we find in the sea.”
e.e. cummings, 100 Selected Poems
