Thank you, Pink! I've peeked ahead, and I'll be tempted to reread and discuss Frankenstein and Lord of the Rings in the coming months! This group chooses some wonderful books!

Welcome Melora! I just joined this group in July, and I think this is a great group and yes, they pick a lot of wonderful books that I have yet to read. That is one reason why I like the Revisit the Shelf category.

Hi Everyone, I'm Laura from the UK. Have always loved the classics, along with most other types of fiction, but haven't read as many recently as I'd like (and there's never enough time to get to them all) so have joined this group to try and give myself a bit of a push to read a few more. Looking forward to discussing with you all

Thank you, Kathy! Now that I've "dipped a toe in" with We Have Always Lived in the Castle, taken a closer look at your shelves, and enjoyed such a friendly welcome here, I'm really looking forward to more reading and discussions with this group.

Hi,

I’m Lena. I’m a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in art with an emphasis on photography. I enjoy reading all kinds of books, but my preference seems to lean more towards non-fiction. Recently, I got into this habit of reading so many books at once to the point of losing track of what I’m reading, and so I decided to join a group to get myself motivated and become more focused. I only read very few classics, but I can tell I’ll enjoy reading more. My favorite book is Wuthering Heights. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Brina Hi Melora :) Glad you joined. Welcome also Laura and Lena. Looking forward to discussing books with you.

Beatrice Apetrei (aabandreea) | 6 comments Hello ! My name is Andreea.
I am currently studying architecture.
Reading has also been my rescue from stress, bad moods or loneliness. At first I thought books to only be a passage to a secret and magical world, in which I would lose myself and had to slowly learn to live by its rules, tradition, culture. But as I grew, I found myself interested more in the characters, in the ideas, in the author, rather than the plot itself. ( that's why I am extremely scared of buying new books, written by authors that are foreign to me ) So, I decided to join this group, to share ideas, opinions about authors, their books, and to discover other similar authors, perhaps even gain the courage to try something new. ( Because I always read the same ones ). I love classics ( I rarely read contemporary fiction ) and I will never give up on reading them ( first priority ) . My favorite authors are Kazantzakis , Dostoyevsky, Dickens, Tolkien and Steinbeck. :)
I also love drawing, photography and architecture !

message 3121: by Brina (new)

Brina Welcome Andreea. Glad you joined. We read a variety of books each month so you should find books that you enjoy here. Looking forward to seeing you in the group.

Christine | 4 comments Hello, my name is Christine and live in Virginia. Sometimes my hobbies come and go but reading has always remained constant in my life. I'm open to reading a lot of different types of books but I tend to gravitate towards classics, fantasy and historical fiction. I avoided the required reading in high school (although I still managed to pass) and have been playing catch up over the last few years. I'm looking forward to being a part of this group! :)

message 3126: by Erin (new)

Erin (eecamp) Hi everyone! I rediscovered the classics after finishing school. Once I finally had the opportunity to read anything I wanted for pure pleasure, I realized that I actually loved many of the classics I had hated being forced to read in literature classes. I love to work on expanding my experience with the classics, but always have a soft spot for Dickens and Dumas.

While I love GoodReads for tracking books and feed my growing TBR list, I'm hoping to become involved in a group that shares my love of reading :)

Hi and welcome Andreea! Wow! You're preaching to the choir! I don't like buying new books either for the exact same reason you mentioned! That's why I decided to go a completely different route and read just classics and, obviously, the reason why I joined this group! Chidi Agbakwuru (rockostylz) | 0 comments Hello everyone. I'm Chidi. I'm a doctor doing a residency in Radiation Oncology. I love the Classics and spend what little leisure time I have curled up with a Thomas Hardy or the rest of his ilk. Classics are a hideaway for me from negative people and the somewhat toxic nature of reality. I pretty much don't read much of any other genre as there are still a lot of classics for my one lifetime. I'm glad to be here and look forward to lists and recommendations.
