Hi and welcome Krista! This is the place to read classics and have discussions with members of the books that we read! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here! Happy reading! :)

Hi and welcome Tara! Glad you've joined us to Catch Up on Classics! You have obviously seen our monthly group reads and have noticed that we have something for everyone (well, almost!). I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here! Happy reading! :)

Yes, I like all sorts of books! :)

I'm originally from the US Midwest too, though I've lived down in Texas for quite some time now.

Well, then, obviously, you should be reading classic historical fiction.

Hi and welcome Portia! Enjoy and happy reading! :)

Did you take your screen name from Merchant of Venice or is that just a happy coincidence?

I'm Alex - I probably know some of you from, y'know, around. I'm 42 and I live in Brooklyn with my wife, dog and baby; I read a lot of classics.

Hi Alex! Welcome! Glad you joined to read more classics with us! Enjoy and happy reading! :)

Welcome to the group Alex and nice to have you in the group. I hope you enjoy your Bingo challenge.

Hi Matt! Welcome! I'm glad your browsing led you to our classics group! This is definitely the group to catch up reading classics! Pride and Prejudice is a fantastic start, it's one of my favorite books, with Wuthering Heights being my absolute favorite! I'm also reading We Have Always Lived in the Castle! I'm almost finished! Can't wait to read your thoughts on the books that we read! Meantime, enjoy and happy reading! :)

So I ransacked my parents' library and took home dozens of books. Needless to say: I LOVED THE CLASSICS (okay, most of them ;) )
I'm over 200 books in by now and simply can't stop or slow down. By now I've found out quite a few authors I LOVE (Dickens, Tolstoy...) and some I really have to struggle to get through every page (Austen, Milton).
I've joined this group to talk about some of the classics I loved and to get new ideas on what to read.
Uff! This has turned out a rather longer post than I intended... anyway, I just wanted to say "hi" and thanks for creating/maintaining this amazing group =D

I'm Viv from England. I joined the group because I am trying to get a better balance with my reading between contemporary & genre versus classics and thought I would find ideas and reading buddies here! I can see that quite a few of my GR friends are members.
I am currently reading The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and loving it. In the next month or two, I plan to read some Virginia Woolf and am considering Les Miserables too.
I'm not sure how many group reads I'll fit in over the next few months, thanks to a reading challenge over at the Roundtable group but if I can fit any into my categories I may join in. I'm in it for the long haul :-)

Hi and welcome Elena! Glad that you ransacked your parents house and found some new favorites, like Tolstoy, who is one of my new favorites too, especially his short stories and tales! Sorry you're struggling with Austen, though that's the way it goes with her writing. People either love her (like me) or, not so much! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here! Happy reading! :)

Hi and welcome Viv! Enjoy and happy reading! :)

Hi and welcome Cindy! Sorry about your other group, it happens sometimes but I'm glad you're here and like our book shelf and the books that we are currently reading. Jump in and enjoy! :)

I live in North Carolina and have for ten years now, but I was born in Florida and spent my first forty years there, so really I'm a Floridian. I have two kids, one husband, one golden retriever, and two cats. My kids are transitioning this year from homeschooling, which is what we've done up to now, to being more traditionally educated -- my son is finishing his senior year of high school at the community college, and my daughter is a freshman at the high school -- which means that I have a bit more time for reading than I have for quite a while! I read all sorts of things. I tend towards nonfiction, but I also love fantasy, classics, short stories, etc.
I look forward to being encouraged by this group to read a few things I might otherwise have missed, and to having a friendly community with whom to exchange thoughts on books! Thanks so much for having me!

I saw that Lolita is in your favourites. I love that book . Have you ever came across a book similar to it?"
Not really, at least not on the same subject matter,..."
