Hi, I'm Lois :) I joined this group to have people to talk and share with on Goodreads, since most of my friends aren't really readers.

So how does it work really? Because here, once you graduate from "high school", you can start at the "Med school" in a university"
Congrats to your son, Kathy! And Tytti, I'm sure Kathy will explain, but just in case your post got buried, in the US, most graduate degree programs require successful completion of a 4-yr Bachelor's degree first. Med school is considers a graduate degree program here, so first is 4-yrs of undergrad after hs, then 4 yrs of med school, then residency after, which I think is 2-yrs. And sometimes fellowship after that. It's quite a long road, educationally. And insanely expensive.

Okey, thanks. We have usually three years to Bachelor's and two to Master's degree (they count study points, not years actually), but I think the "Med school" might be six years in total, straight (or not so straight) after "HS".
Welcome Helen & Lois & Suzan ~ always glad to have more bibliophiles here!
And thanks MK for answering Tytti's question. That sounds about right. I am hoping that he can pay of the student debt before he retires! He has been blessed so far as undergraduate with no student debt.

Thanks Paula & Rianna for introducing yourselves. We are glad to have you with us. I too love all the free classics for my Kindle!

I'm very fond of the classics, and I especially enjoy rereading books that I have loved in the past (Jane Austen, George Eliot, Balzac, Dostoyevsky).
I'm excited about the group and look forward to gaining new insights from our collective reading.

I love many different kinds of books, but have really neglected the classics. I'm really looking forward to being a part of the group.

Welcome all. Thanks Bryant, Krysta, MariLo, Marcy, Melissa, & Lemon for introducing yourselves. So nice to get to know you a bit better. We had a bunch of new members that just joined us in the past couple of days. Welcome all. I hope you enjoy the group.
For all our newbies, we still have polls open for May books.

Welcome Mandy & Dena. Thanks for introducing yourselves. I am glad to get to know you a bit better. I look forward to your comments.

Welcome, Shraddha. Hopefully you will have some time to read a few books with us, but I totally understand how much time studies take. Glad to have you as a member.

That's awesome! Wonder if you'll notice who the 1000th is :D.
I just checked, I'm on the 8th page of 25 going backwards in time from today, so I must have joined in the 725-750 range, roughly.

Welcome Becky! Glad that you are ready to jump right in. We are just started four different books for the month of April. I hope you will join us in a read. I look forward to your comments.

Hi, Kathy. I'm new to the group. I'm learning Spanish, and I loved Laura Restrepo's "La Isla de Pasion".

I'm Sam and I live in Sydney, Australia. I have four children and read quite a bit along with studying Mandarin and knitting/crochet. I haven't read many classics so looking forward to where this leads!

And hello and welcome to Andre and Rebecca aka Becky, too! Glad to have you join us :). Dive in, the water's fine *grin*. Happy reading…

I'm Maahi, from India. Glad to be a part of this group! Although I'm still getting used to the waters here. xD
I'm trying to get more classics in my list this year. And oh, I also enjoy reading manga. :)

Im Alicia. I live in the suburbs of Chicago. I am a self proclaimed introvert, and I love to read. I work for The Mens Wearhouse. I have a Husband 2 kids and 2 dogs. I usually read Sci Fi ,YA fiction, Historic fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Thriller, and the occasional horror. I skip the Romance section completely (I find it makes reality with my husband ..or any husband .... tough LOL) I am nearing 40 and I have been looking for the push to get back into reading the classics. I bought The Count of Monty Cristo, and it just stares at me mockingly from the bookshelf. So I hope this group can help me get me motivated.
Wow! I am loving all the new members. I think this group has some good things to offer you and I am excited to have new people and new ideas!
Hi to Andre, Sam, Maahi, & Alicia!
I'll look up Isle of Passion by Laura Restrepo. It is nice to try and keep up my Spanish reading. Even if it still takes me forever.

I love reading. Stephen King is my favorite author, so I suppose horror and mystery thrillers are my favorite kind of books. I've read some classics, but I want to start really catching up.
Besides that I like playing tennis and watching anime/reading manga.
Welcome Gavin. Nice to have you here. Hope you enjoy the Classics with us.
And so cool!!! Gavin, I believe that you are member #1000!
Thanks for helping our group grow.

Welcome Leanne. Thanks for introducing yourself and letting us know a bit about you. And congrats on the upcoming wedding!
