Hi. I'm Lori from Oklahoma. I had a question...What is the definition of a Classic according to the group's definition?

I don't think we have one...
I guess that's why I couldn't find one. ;)

Welcome to the group, Chess! I'm glad you like the format of our group reads. I hope you join us in discussions!

Hi Dave! We have several group reads each month and previous months' discussion threads always remain open for comment, so I hope you find the inspiration you're looking for. Welcome to the group!

I work in retail and have two small children, so I can't read as much as I'd like, especially since I'm getting too old for all-nighters under the covers with a flashlight. I joined the group to help direct my to-read pile and participate in coherent adult conversation.

Welcome Phaedra. I also live in the land of cotton, only in my case it is on the south plains of Texas. Don't be ashamed of junk food books. We all read some I'm sure. I hope you enjoy our group.

Welcome Jessica! Archaeology sounds so interesting. I hope you will be able to join us for some of our group reads, and that you enjoy our group!

Hi Phaedra! My kids aren't small anymore but I remember when they were, and I'm impressed that you get as much reading done as you do! I hope you enjoy our group!

Hi Phaedra: Welcome to the group! It's always an encouragement to see what other people are reading and the challenges help take down the To Read pile. I do similar to what you do, I have three or four going at once and it just depends on what my mood is. Hope you enjoy the group like I do.

Welcome Arlene! I'm glad you've joined us. I hope you enjoy the group!

I'm Lilly from Augsburg (Bavaria), 26, and student of history, literature, and some other stuff. I've been trying to catch up with my classics for a while now; though I must confess, after 5 years of studying, my "to-do" list only ever seems to grow faster than the "done" list. :D There's never enough time.
My favorite genre is fantasy (though I love 18th and 19th century novels just as well). Robert Jordan, Garth Nix, Patrick Rothfuss ... just to name a few.
In my spare time I do ballroom dancing, writing, and painting. I also love photography.
Currently, I'm spending some effort on Thoreau's "Walden" and Woolf's "To the Lighthouse", as I have to write term papers on both of them.
I'm looking foreward to this group, as it will give me some good excuse to read some books outside classes. :D

Welcome to the group, Lilly! It sounds like you have a full schedule, but I hope you find time to join in some of our group reads with us. :-)
Hey. I'm a reader. Duh. Otherwise I'm in the wrong place. Right? I read a little of everything. But my loves are fantasy, horror, and historical.
I recently got laid off (again) and so I'm using my free time to read (and reread) books I've been meaning to get to. Which includes classics.
Some of my favorite classics are, Count of Monte Cristo, Les Miserables, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Frankenstein, Dracula, Phantom of the Opera, and others...
And here's to finding more favorites with all you.
:)

My name is Kassie and I am a 23-year-old living in Ohio. I love to read both fiction and nonfiction, but am hoping this group helps me conquer my long list of TBR classics. I have "read along" the past couple months with Cranford, The Count of Monte Cristo, and The Canterville Ghost, and am looking forward to participating in discussions!

My name is Kennie and I recently moved to Washington from Alaska. I feel that I did not read very many classics while I was in school or while I was growing up, so I figured why not join you guys! I am also working my way through the 1001 Must Read book list and I love book discussions! Please feel free to message me! :)

Welcome to the group, Kassie! I'm so glad to hear you've been reading along with us. Please do jump in to the discussions. The more the merrier! :-)

Hi Suzana! Little Women is currently one of the nominees for our April group reads. Click on "Polls" on the group's home page if you'd like to cast a vote! I hope you find many other books to enjoy here too. :-)

Welcome Kennie! I have slowly been whittling away at Boxall's 1001 Books list too. I find that most of our group reads end up being on that list. I hope you join in our discussions!

In my spare time I enjoy drawing and knitting.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day today!

Welcome Amber! I hope this group helps you find some reading inspiration. :-)

Hello Niles! The great thing about Goodreads groups is that you can participate as much as you want, and there is never a book report due or a test! If you'd like to jump in to one of our March group reads, they will be: Mrs. Dalloway, Notes from Underground, and The Scarlet Pimpernel. We will also be completing the last month of our three month quarterly read of The Count of Monte Cristo. If none of those appeal to you, you can choose any of our previous group reads and add to their discussion threads. If you like games, our 2015 Classics Bingo game might give you some inspiration. Welcome to the group! :-)

Welcome to the group, Jenna! I hope you enjoy reading with us. :-)

I will be reading a lot of classics as I get to them

Welcome to the group, Stu!

Sounds like some good choices! After reading Pride and Prejudice last month, I plan to try to read some more Austen this year also. Happy reading!

I have a reading list of about 11 pages, front and back. lol I'm 21 years of age, always loved reading, but never really indulged myself properly into it until almost 2 years ago. I love crime thrillers, and mystery, but I'm also a student of literature and journalism so I basically read anything that sounds interesting. I finally have a little time on my hands, and starting with classical works such as of Salinger, Burgess, Nabokov, Orwell, Yates, Hemingway, Dickens, Dostoyevsky, Kafka's and many more. I understand some of these you guys might've read in highschool, but I didn't so wish me luck. :)
Looking forward to having a companion for future book hangovers. :D all of my friends here are only interested in twilight and 50 shades kind of books. ._.

My name is Johanna and I love to read classics. I look forward to joining the group reads."

Hello Sadia! I'm glad you joined us. Many of us (myself included) as partly trying to catch up on the books we didn't read in school, so you're not alone. ;-) Welcome to the group!

I'm Iselin from Germany and I just found this group while trying to locate my edition of Heidi on Goodreads (I want to reread it this year). I saw you were reading great books, so here I am!
I'm currently wrapping up uni (German Lit and Computational Linguistics), writing a thesis on my favourite German book, Measuring the World.
I love being outdoors, cinema, rowing, traveling, ... cake. I love cake too.
Looking forward to chatting and reading with you!
