Welcome, Rebecca. Nice to see another fan of reading. I look forward to reading your comments and book reviews.

I'm Holly, and I am currently obsessing heavily over classics, and have been for the last few years. My aims are to do an English Literature degree, and then either go into libraries or publishing. Most likely libraries. First I have to pass my A-Levels... I guess I joined here to chat with other people about classics, who share the passion that I have for them. Teenagers don't appreciate them enough!
Holly, so happy to see you join the group. And I am excited to have your passion for classics as a part of our group. I look forward to your comments.

I love meeting new people! :)
Welcome Cagliostro and Virgina. So nice to have you both here. I hope that you enjoy this group and the different books we are reading.

I'm so impressed with the wide diversity of members! At least three (Anna and Antonio, I think?) speak three languages. Awwwww I always wanted to learn a second, but other than HS Spanish from another lifetime ;-), it remains on the bucket list.
I just joined your group yesterday, Goodreads the day before. Kathy sent me a lovely note, asking me to drop by this into thread to say hello. I live in Maine (northeast corner of the country, bordering Canada, for those outside the US). Married, one grown daughter, currently in Dublin beginning her second year of veterinary school. One dog, three cats, was four until two months ago when said daughter took Jack the cat with her to school in Ireland.
Used to be an avid reader, until I started spending all my reading time surfing the net, ohh late 90s or so, I suppose. Resisted a Kindle until about two years ago, because I thought I preferred 'real books'. Glad I stopped resisting, bc I love my Kindle! Read more now then I have since I discovered the internet ;-). The number of free books blows me away. I spend hours sometimes, just browsing the best sellers free lists on Amazon. Reminds me of library visits when I was a kid :-D. With libraries of libraries to browse thru, tho! heh. Looking forward to reading the classics with such a friendly, diverse, interesting bunch. I've downloaded one of this month's classics, Picture of Dorian Gray.

Welcome Deborah. Glad to have you aboard. I haven't read The Phantom of the Opera myself. I too have a long list of books that need reading.

Welcome Nicole! I haven't read Jude the Obscure, but will check it out. Perhaps we can read it for a monthly read?

Michelle and Mariana -- Welcome. So glad you are here. I am sure you will be a great asset to the group. I look forward to your posts.

I'm Zhao Jing (my friends usually call me Jing), from China. I'm an MA student in Xiamen University, studying literature.
I'm glad to join the group, and look forward to seeing literary opinions from all over the world( cool).
Be a Chinese and like a Chinese, I tend to keep silent, but that doesn't mean I don't participate. I tend to be more an observer than a speaker.
Jing
Welcome Jing. Glad to have you in our book group. I look forward to reading your comments. And observers are welcome too. I hope you enjoy our reads.

Hi Emily. Nice to have you be a part of the group. I look forward to your comments.
Cool that you are doing NaNoWriMo. I'm not a writer, but it is still an intriguing idea.

Iris so good to have you here. I think all of us readers over commit a bit -- but that's ok. Join in when you can .

I'm Connie from Manitoba, Canada. This is the first time I have joined a group on Goodreads. I love to pull out the classics frequently. I am not currently reading one but am ready to get back into one soon. I work in an elementary school and have 2 adult children. Looking forward to some interesting discussions.
Hi Connie.
Nice to have you here, and I've enjoyed your comments in the different threads. Hope you have fun and enjoy the reads here.

I've had it sitting on my shelf for awhile and haven't got to it yet. Maybe it's time!

I have a lifelong pattern of returning to the classics every decade or so and I am on another one of those rides. Currently revisiting Tom Sawyer.
During the day I am a college professor of psychology.
This seems like a nice group of people and I am happy I found it.
Rick
Welcome Rick. So good to have you aboard. I have found the group to be a nice and fun group of people.

Nadia, so glad to have you aboard! I hope you can join us in on some of this month's reads. I look forward to your comments.

Welcome Ravi. We are glad to have you join us here! We haven't read The Brothers Karmazov as a group read yet. Another one to add to our TBR list eventually I hope.

My name is Teresa and I'm here in beautiful BC. My fave books range from comedy, romance - classics and anything else that may pique my interest. Thanks for the welcome!
Teresa. So glad to have you here. BC is beautiful. Just north of me in Idaho. Hope you find some books that interest you here. I look forward to your comments.

Please, please help. I read a paperback a while back but I can't for the life of me remember the title. Its a classic novel of course settings in the early 1900. About a debutante. Surprise ending the married man she was seeing has come back into town & stops into this house to find all the furniture in the foyer ready to be moved out?, (I think) only he didn't know the woman of the house was his mistress and that she passed away of consumption. Any idea. Thank you in advance.
teresa
Hi Teresa, I can't think of a book to match your description. Sorry. Perhaps as the group thinks about it, someone will come up with a plausible title for you.

Hi Cury. So nice to know a little bit about you. I love being a lifelong reader and learner too.

I just finished The Turn of the Screw

Reading classics has been a natural part of my life since I was a child. After first starting in the children's section of the library I jumped straight into classics with avid passion due to the fortunate influence of an impassioned classic-lover adult.
If I read a classic now I often get the feeling that I've read it before. (I'm pretty sure that I'm reading David Copperfield for the second time.)
I like other genres and my interests also extend to cycling, slow cooking (I’m vegan) and birding.
People in Goodreads offer interesting insights and I’m looking forward to being a part of this group.
