Stuck in bed yesterday, so I had the chance to read: We Have Always Lived in the Castle. A great gothic novel! Also: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, which was good, but slightly unsatisfying. Next up: The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, and Them: Adventures with Extremists.

I'm actually really enjoying it Deb...I'm almost half way through now.

Reading this one now: Them: Adventures with Extremists. Love this writer's work!
"In this eye-opening portrait of extremist groups--75 percent of which are located in this country--Jon Ronson takes readers inside the hearts and minds of people often summarily dismissed as kooks and crazies."

I have the same reaction, Deb.

Amanda Stevens. It's book 2 in a creepy series centered around a graveyard restorer who sees ghosts.

Finished Animal People- Wonderful book! My review is here http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I read Lovely Bones a while ago now and it had a profound impact on me at the time. I had just experienced a death in my family and it was a wonderful relief to know that other people share my belief that we 'hang around to make sure everything is ok' for some time after we die. Whew! It is not the end...just the start of a new journey.

Burning Lies and Second Chances Entries close July 21st

I finished 15 Seconds by Andrew Gross...wonderful! My review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Now, what to read next....

That is a revolting book."
I'm interested - What didn't you like about it?

"Bring up the Bodies' sort of chronicles the fall of Anne Boleyn (from the point of view of Thomas Cromwell). First chapter already looks promising! Medieval era court politics never fail to amaze me. All that plotting and scheming are just epic! I love Mantel's style of writing, it gives you a good feel of the era without being verbose or excessively dramatic.

The book sounds execrable (and I do propose to read it, shortly after Stygia glaciates, to verify that), but your "interview" with Frey is just about the funniest thing I've ever read!

Nicola, I haven't read it, but looking at the reviews, there are a lot of people on either side of the fence about it. It seems to me it's either one you love, or not. And everyone's opinions are different (thankfully), hence you might enjoy it immensely, while Jess didn't!

I don't think I have EVER seen a book with consistent 4 or 5 stars....or 1 or 2 stars! I think it would be boring if that was the case, as there would be no interesting discussion about the book...
