Dee-Ann | 644 comments I am reading a strange little book, Short & Tall Tales: Moose County Legends Collected by James Mackintosh Qwilleran, which I found in the library. It is only 120 pages, and it contains very short stories (some are barely a page long), and I am going to use it for one of the reading challenges. It contains tales and anecdotes from the 1800s, early 1900s of Moose County (somewhere in the US), which at the time was a mining, bootlegging, rural area. Some of the tales are actually quite spooky, others are funny and despite reading the reviews before I read it (I should not do that), I am enjoying it.

Neko Yesterday I finished Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard and I was really happy to see a 2nd book is being released sometime. Very interesting seeing all the different styles of artwork while some strange stories being told.

Otherwise I started Binge Trading: The Real Inside Story of Cash, Cocaine and Corruption in the City while I was sitting in my car this afternoon. I can already tell I'm interested by the very few pages that I read...However, I don't think I placed it on a challenge so I might stop for now :x

Oh and I currently got through-

VORK #1
Simpsons Summer Shindig #4
Green Arrow #30 to 32
Futurama #48 -52

Neko I'm still reading Rendezvous At Kamakura Inn but I had a dream about the book last night..I kid you not..LOL Nothing about what was happening in the book though. I dreamed I bought another copy of it on eBay but i thought it was a different book. It was a hard back copy, it looked really good. Opening the cover I found it signed in red ink. And at the back of the book there was some hand written comments from the author.

It was SO odd of a dream XD But it really stuck out in my head..lol

Mine was a book club book too. I found it a little dry but I hear The Surgeon of Crowthorne is better

I finished reading Animal Dreams my first Autumn book ticked off for the season. I love Barbara Kingsolvers novels. She manages to make you live with the characters. They are so increadibly real. I haven't written a review, I need time to sit and think about it further.

I am back to finishing reading Unaccustomed Earth. They are short stories so it was easy to interupt and read another book in between. These stories are simply told. About family relationships of Bengalis surviving the transition of living in America. I love these stories, they give you a feel of the alienation felt by these people.

Iris Blobel (iris-b) | 127 comments i just finished 'cassie draws the universe' ... great ending, but boy the story dragged along ....

I have just started reading People of the Book. This book will tick off one from the Aussie Authors challenge and one from the Autumn challenge. The embarrassing thing, but great thing about this book is that it was recommended to me by one of my American friends. (Embarrassing because I didn't know she was Australian before it was recommended.)

People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks

I liked the Garden of G & E tt. It's a book I wished I hadn't read so I could read it again. Laurel

Laurel Lamperd I'm reading The girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. I'm not so sure I like it. My daughter said it's a good read and has lent me the two books which follow on. When SL describes a house/building he informs the reader of its area eg 150 metres. I've never seen that before. aussieauthorsatwork.blogspot.com

Laurel, a friend of mine read all three books and said the stories were great but those occasional forays into measurements and meaningless detail nearly drove her crazy.
