This story is about a petry critic who moves to a small coastal town, Zane, somewhere near Eden, a while after her divorce from a popular ladies man university lecturer/writer. She has come to work on a book she is writing and also to find some direction to her life. This story tells of her time in this town as well as that of other locals and vistors, all whom have issues. L'inizio è appassionante, ti invita a leggere per scoprire quale mistero aleggia su quel cottage a Zane e come si svilupperà la storia. Ma l'intreccio poi delude un po' le aspettative, risultando poco accattivante. Molto interessanti in compenso, i momenti descrittivi riguardanti la natura e lo scarso rispetto che gli uomini spesso le portano.

Non sempre apprezzo il gotico, come stile letterario, ma questo libro mi e’ piaciuto, anche se la trama e’ un po’ frammentata . L’ ambientazione e’ descritta in maniera coinvolgente

Dorothy Coade Hewett (21 May 1923 – 25 August 2002) was an Australian feminist poet, novelist, librettist and playwright. She was also a member of the Communist Party of Australia, though she clashed on many occasions with the party's leadership.
