Finished Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation. I know I whinged about it buy it got really good after the first 100 pages or so, that I had to give it 5 stars (maybe I am just generous). My review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...I will be reading Margaret Atwood's MaddAdam trilogy next, starting with Oryx and Crake. This is in anticipation of the release of book #3 in August. There is just something that draws me to post apocalyptic trilogies...

I am currently reading an ARC (for the second time, for reviewing purposes) of Hellraiser—Mother Jones: An Historical Novel -- which, incidentally, I highly recommend.

I have to buy the paper copy because I already bought the first two that way. I tend not to buy my very favourite authors on kindle.

Finished Oryx and Crake and LOVED IT. Can't believe I had waited this long to read it. Here is my review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...Now onto The Year of the Flood, 2nd book of the MaddAdam trilogy.
I've just started the children of the King by Sonya Hartnett. It is a 2013 Children's Book Week book.

Hi Brenda
Is it the 'done' thing to put a link to the book & the author when we comment here? I notice you do it...
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. It was a freebie a couple of weeks ago when I picked it up. It was the 'Emerald' winner with RWA (unpubbed manuscript) in about 2006 and it's taken these years for the author to finish it. Anyway, I'm about 10% in and it's a lot of fun so far.
At the moment - Ashes Cricket - has my attention tho!
Cheers
Lily M

The reason we encourage everyone to link their books is that it's so much easier to just click on the link to learn about that particular book. Often if it's not linked, people don't bother, so that one slips through. It's nice to be able to check what others are reading with ease:)

Finished The Year of the Flood. What a bizarre book! Evokes many different emotions at once and sucks you in right away even if you haven't read the first book of the trilogy. Not very dystopic but it is definitely more literature than dystopic! Same post apocalyptic setting with different characters. Five stars.

Now I don't know what to read next. Maybe I should hold out until MaddAdam is out.
Michael wrote: "Lily you can have just the title or both title and author its up to you. :)"Thanks! Will do.

But you did read the first book of the trilogy didn't you? The second book makes a lot more sense if you have read the first one.

Currently reading The Giver as my YA book for the winter challenge. It reminds me very much of Margaret Atwood and The Handmaid's Tale. Similar type of dystopian society.

I've read this. I enjoyed it a lot but my hubby wasn't so rapt.
Just started
by John Elder Robison as I really enjoyed his first book
and I'm going to his Dymocks Literary lunch next month with my sister
I recently started reading
and am loving it so far.It didn't start off how I expected but I'm really enjoying it now.
Just started reading Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution by Michelle Moran, which is appropriate as yesterday was Bastille day, but purely co-incidental :)
After reading Tampa I thought I might read something completely nerdy. The nostalgia is high in this one (if you grow up playing computer games in the 80's and 90's). You by Austin Grossman
Started The Burial last night and could not put it down. Especially after that deeply unsettling first chapter!

You are a braver woman than me Sharon. I don't think I could handle this one, not at the moment while I have young kids (2 boys).

I just finished Ghost Story - another excellent book fom the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. It had quite a twist to it and was very entertaining! And now I am starting The Cuckoo's Calling because I can't wait to find out what it is like. It starts extremely well.
