same here Holly! Though she will defiant til the end. did anyone else think Olly is up to no good? I don't think he was concerned with Jon the way Sam thought.
I never thought too much about Jon Snow before but this season he has really stepped it up, last nights episode was incredible!

Only problem with last nights episode: I had watched Mad Max Fury Road just hours before, and unfortunately, every single stimilus afterwards (and for the next few years even) paled in comparison.Otherwise, it was kind of cool to see the set of World War Z on the attack.

I did the exact same thing yesterday! Wow, Mad Max was insane. I still dug the zombie horde descending on the town, though.
I'm not a big Game of Thrones fan. Basically I watch it because my family has it on. But that was an awesome episode!!! Zombie battle! Cersei-shaming! Jon Snow showing some personality and even shattering a white walker! Ah, good stuff.
It was an awesome episode and nothing at all like the dreadful CGI of World War Z. The "Wights" were both zombie and skeleton and were superb.Tyrion and Dani chatting together was amazing as well.

They were just fast moving, is all. and I agree on Tyrion and Dani chatting was amazing. They both bring out the best in each other. If the spider gets in the room soon? that will be some great dialogue.

The last episode was stupendous and for me it surpassed the greatest episodes of the past. Simply amazing.

Loved loved loved last night, even better than the week before. Despite some very forgiveable poor special effects on the last few moments of the episode, the coliseum scene was truly amazing and jaw dropping. (once again, it helps that the shows have overtaken my reading). The show and Martin are 'never afraid to go there.' I have a feeling Jaimie is 'gonna get it' from the Dorne woman. I suspect she'll risk her own life for some revenge. Them Dorne woman kick-ass.
Man, what an episode! The word EPIC truly applies here! I was very, very upset (view spoiler)The coliseum scene did have a few shots that were sort of fake looking, but overall? I thought it rocked and was clapping my ass off in my living room, like an idiot. :)

and about part 2, me too! I wanted to wake up my wife, give her the whole entire backstory of GOT, and then tell her what happened. Fortunately I did not. 'Good hold', as they say.
Anyone else catch an allusion to Abraham and Isaac in that scene?

That's the one. The fire god seems to reference both Zoroastrianism and Judaism in multiple ways. Maybe it's just me :P
I didn't see the parallels, I thought Abraham did that because God asked him to do it? (I haven't read the bible in ages) with nothing in return for Abraham. Stannis did it so that it would have him get the throne, "a life for a life"-- royal blood to get him the throne or better his chances? I see what you mean but even Abraham I think might've refused, I can't remember.
I didn't see it as a literal retelling but I did see common traits - one true god as opposed to everyone else's seven or whatever the case may be, appears as fire, has a thing for sacrifices... Maybe the parallels aren't intentional and maybe I'm stretching for common threads but that's what I got out of it. Sounds like it's just me but that's cool.

No, I'm seeing it. Seems to me that Stannis views Melisandre as a God. She certainly presents herself as one. Or at the very least, God's right hand woman.
I just don't see how the final episode could top these last two.

Apologies if everyone here is already well-acquainted with what follows. While the comparison to Abraham and Isaac is not without merit, most GoT fans have focused on the parallel between Stannis and Shireen, on the one hand, and Agamemnon and Iphigenia, on the other. Certainly, the fact that Shireen is seen clutching a stag (carved for her by Davos) as she is led to the pyre lends additional weight to this correspondence.
I've been a fan of Stannis and have seen him as a hard man but a just one, one that would do what he at least thought was right. So for me, what happened in the last episode was out of character (unless it was a sacrificing the one for the good of the many and not merely to advance his personal goal - which i didn't see). So, I wonder if Martin will go tho route in the book and hope he doesn't. Shireen can grow into some so much more.Your comparisons to Agamemnon, however, are well received. And for me, this was the most powerful scene of the season. Episode 9 always is

I did, and it kept me awake afterwards. I was shocked, dismayed, and not in a good way like I was with everyone else's death throughout the series. I'd like to say more, but not sure how to add that cool spoiler tag here. I used to laugh at those who say "that's it, I'm not watching next season" but I have to say I am less inclined to watch (but will!). I'd rather we lost Darryl Dixon (yeah, I said it :-) )Stages of Game of Thrones Grief.

I must say that Season 5 overall was disappointing. Cersei's walk of atonement was the only high point for me, and it wasn't enough.

I guess I'm the only one who thought it was a good ending! you know he didn't dead right? (view spoiler)I was disappointed with dany's and I know daario is gonna do something to jorah! I knew that little poop Olly was gonna do something, and after Jon let him live after killing ygritte. I think next season it will be a season of revenge, and a lot of it. I was disappointed that there was no lady stoneheart but other than that, I thought it was good.

One: I have never read the Song of Ice and Fire series, but I thought season 5 finale was good; but sad and devastating. I was expecting more of Dany's storyline. Cersi's atonement walk was quite brutal (not sure how it is in the books). I ALMOST shed a tear for her. So I wonder how will she be in the next season. Two: If TWD kill Daryl, I'm done with the show.

Although I have the boxed sets of the first four seasons I don't feel at all motivated to buy S5 when the boxed set comes out.
Well, that was some ending but I think there will be more to it. Cersei's walk to the Red Keep was pretty brutal, I wonder if she will lose her mind because of it? I also wonder about the new member of the king guard...someone we know perhaps?

Cersei losing her mind in season 6 would be interesting. Because of how brutal that walk was, I wouldn't be surprised. However, I expect a lot of vengeance from her. I actually thought this season was great. It started off slow but really picked up in the last few episodes that really setup the tone for the next season or seasons of the show.
This is one of the few television series that I still watch on anything approaching a regular basis and, after watching this seasons’s finale, I’m still giving the series a fairly solid thumbs up. I enjoy the Byzantine political intrigue and admire the fact that characters tend to be grey rather than black or white. In addition, the season boasted at least one truly exceptional episode (Episode 8, “Hardhome”). On the other hand, the show was the target of some harsh criticism this year, not all of which was easy to dismiss. Given George R. R. Martin’s slow writing pace, the show’s plot line is increasingly diverging from that found in the books. Perhaps this is the reason that more and more we’re witnessing the use of rather lazy plot contrivances. Part of me wonders whether this season will in hindsight be looked back on as the one where the chinks in series’ armor first became apparent. Season 6 will, I suspect, prove to be something of an acid test for Benioff and Weiss.
I rather thought it was a decent season, I think they are diverging some from the book and that might be why some aren't too keen on it. I think book 6 comes out sometime this year but I do believe Martin is aware and in talks with the writers and producers about the show. I do also believe he gets some input. that being said I have hope season 7 will be a whole lot better.

I could easily be wrong, but the most recent scuttlebutt puts Martin’s next book in the series, The Winds of Winter , on the 2016 publication schedule.
I do believe Martin is aware and in talks with the writers and producers about the show. I do also believe he gets some input.
Martin has provided the show’s producers with an overarching vision of where the books are heading and how they’ll end. I don’t know, of course, how detailed that information is (or, for that matter, how detailed Martin’s own vision is at this point).
