Eva Not much is new with me. How about you?

message 19906: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Oh yeah I think I tried reading that book once.....

message 19907: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose never heard of it. I have to deal with this thing called History Day, though, which is like this huge 3-month-long project that pretty much decides whether I pass or fail 7th grade. Fun. And on top of that, I'm getting braces in exactly 2 weeks from tomorrow. Also fun.

message 19908: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose I love how this discussion was meant to be some friendly competition, but it's really just a chat page for us to complain about our lives.

message 19909: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose K, good to know. If there's one thing I'm looking forward too, though, it's an excuse to eat ice cream and mashed potatoes for a few days. And probably skipping school that day.

message 19910: by Eva (last edited Dec 04, 2018 04:45PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Ooh, braces. Never had them, probably I never will. My teeth are relatively straight and I really don't have that bad of an overbite, and I have other people in my family who need them way more than I do. So we'll spend the money on getting them braces, not me.

But seriously, if your at all worried about how braces will look, don't be. Whatever you may think, nobody actually notices them after seeing them for like, three days. Also, they don't look bad at all IMO. They're just normal.

I hope it doesn't hurt too much for you!

message 19911: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose I guess I'm more worried about how they'll feel and the eating restrictions I'm going to have. Seriously, how am I supposed to survive 2 years without cashews or raisins or crunchy cereals?

message 19912: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Oooh... that would be tough.

message 19913: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva So, do you guys have any weird holiday traditions?

message 19914: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose Ummm... we eat crab? I dunno if that's weird or not, but... crab.

message 19915: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Wow, Evelyn, that sounds hectic.
I dunno how weird crab is, Lexington, my family doesn't eat a lot of seafood.

Rose I like Percy better

message 19930: by Eva (last edited Dec 11, 2018 07:21PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Yeah, Percy's pretty good. I just love Harry Potter so much. It's just amazing to me with all the world building, and it's all so original. I'm not saying Percy Jackson isn't original, but so much of the world building is based off of already existing Greek mythology. I've read other book series based off of that same Greek mythology.

Please don't be offended, Percy Jackson's great. Hilarious. Amazing. But something about Harry Potter just draws me into the world, and gets me more invested in the world overall instead of just the humor and the storyline. It's different for different people, I guess.

Victoria Evelyn wrote: "I myself, really don't like Harry Potter because it is really hard to keep track for me of whats happening, don't get me wrong, Percy Jackson is hard to, but I just like Percy more."

I have read both but I agree. Plus who can resist Percabeth.

Eva JOHNNIE wrote: "Harry Potter is trash..."

Umm. Your opinion, of course, but there are nicer ways to say it. It especially annoys me when people call books trash or really horrible, because books aren't exactly easy to write. So most of us don't have a right to say that a book is "trash" just because we don't like it; plenty of us couldn't do any better writing a book. Give those authors some appreciation!

message 19939: by Sophie (new) - rated it 5 stars

nah its still garbage but im trynna win

message 19941: by Eva (last edited Dec 13, 2018 02:01PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Seriously though don't call a book garbage or trash please. It's really very rude to the author and to those who like reading those books.

If you don't think it's wrong, fine, but it still offends me, so please don't do it again. I already asked you not to once and you just did it again, which was very, very rude and very, very immature.

There are nicer ways to express that you don't like something. Maybe a polite argument why you don't like it would be appropriate.

message 19942: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Ooh I love peppermint hot chocolate!!!

message 19943: by Victoria (new) - rated it 5 stars

Victoria I saw peppermint hot chocolate. I would kill my god sister if she even thought to take my Peppermint goodness.

message 19944: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose I like it

message 19945: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Not great. Let's see...

We had three tests, and one was basically a very long pop quiz. And who knows how I did on them, probably horrible.
I'm really tired and can't fall asleep.
Plus I found out today that my best friend likes the same boy I do, and I'm just really hoping that it doesn't get in the way of us being friends.
And there's really no one for me to talk to about all of this so here I am typing this into a Goodreads comment section at 11:00 at night.

Really though it'll probably all be fine eventually, I just needed to vent.

message 19946: by Rose (last edited Dec 15, 2018 11:36AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose Oh, wow. I'm genuinely not sure whose life is worse, then. Here's mine:

First, my good-bye to my friend wasn't just 'Seeya tomorrow!', it was 'Seeya next year!'.

Then, it wasn't 'Seeya next year!', it was 'Goodbye, you're not gonna be my friend anymore when we see each other again!'. So basically, school started and she stopped talking to me.

I've been really struggling in math, and I probably have to retake the 'normal' math class I took last year(I'm 2 grades ahead in math, like last year, but I'll probably have to go to being 1 grade ahead, thus retaking a math class that I already took. *groan*)

3 words: History. Day. Essay.

I haven't been able to sleep and have been absolutely exhausted in class, and I think it's bc I think I might have Depression or Bipolar Depression.

Did I mention I think I have Depression or Bipolar Depression?

(btw, I'm not trying to say 'Stop complaining cuz my life is worse', cuz I can't really tell whose is worse)

message 19947: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose Oh, and we found out my dad was gonna lose his job in June. And I have to get braces. And I have a buttload of missing assignments. Just lovely.

message 19948: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Oh my goodness that really puts my problems in perspective, I feel so bad about everything. I really hope it turns out ok for you.

About having depression or bipolar depression, have you talked to someone about that? Like your parents? That's probably important. I'm not trying to be pushy, really, but even though I haven't met you in person I do care about your wellbeing and, well, none of us are professionals on the subject. So maybe if you haven't talked to them about it, consider it?

I really hope that you make new friends, and maybe even get your old friend back, and your dad's job situation turns out alright, and you do well in math and on your history essay, and the braces don't hurt too much, and you can still eat your favorite foods even with braces.

And I hope that everything else turns out okay! I know nothing that I can say could actually help at all, but I really do hope for your sake that everything turns out okay.

Rose I have tried talking to my mom, but last I checked she thinks it's just me growing up. And I hope so, too.
