message 19806: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Okay well at least I'm winning again.

message 19807: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva And I found a book to read, it's historical fiction which usually isn't my type and the main character is a ten year old but I actually enjoyed it, it's The War that Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley

message 19808: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Really good book, though it's not really written towards a super mature age group. Maybe 6th or 7th grade up because it does deal with some tough topics. I definitely would recommend it though.

message 19809: by Mia (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mia Saints and Misfits by S.K. Ali is really good.

message 19810: by [deleted user] (new)

i found the blackthorn key series by kevin sands really good. especially the second one.

anyways, so do you know the problem with this discussion? anybody who's ever posted or commented on it will always receive notifications to this discussion any time anyone else posts. so this thread will NEVER END.

can someone tell me how to mute the notifications for this

message 19811: by Eva (last edited Sep 20, 2018 07:30PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Oh I read the first book in that series (Blackthorn Key), advanced reader copy actually, but I kind of forgot about it! I should really check out the next books....

But about muting notifications, I'm doing this from a computer I don't know about the app, but on my computer below the box where I am typing this comment there is a checkbox that says, "Notify me when people reply." Just click edit and choose "None" to never get notified about this chat. Hope it helped, sorry if it doesn't work with the device you're using.

message 19812: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Also, clicking "Edit" by "You are are following this discussion (instant email)" should work, it's just above the box where you type your comments.

Please give a round of applause to....

3rd place - me
2nd place - me
1st place - me

To everyone else, thanks for participating!

I'd like to thank books, and Goodreads, and my mom who taught me to read, and books. This was not an easy journey and I never could have done it without you all! Also thanks to my competitors, this has been so fun. Thanks again!

Pretty good, but I've been reading books I'm not particularly interested in instead of reading books I need to read, which is frustrating...

message 19823: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose Eva wrote: "Nope definitely winning"

Now I'm winning. I'm also probably starting an infinite back and forth war between us.

message 19824: by Sol (last edited Oct 01, 2018 03:22PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sol I am winning now. Also, I just finished the book An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. Has anyone else? It is a really good book.

message 19825: by Eva (last edited Oct 06, 2018 05:07PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva You two were winning, but now....
Well anyways, I haven't read that book. It's not really the kind of book I usually read, but I'll have to check it out!

Well I've taken the lead at least.

Magnus Sigh. People still thinking they can win this?

message 19834: by Lou (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lou Magnus wrote: "Sigh. People still thinking they can win this?"

I know right, I mean, why not just use this as a chat thread instead?

message 19835: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose LydiaMae wrote: "Magnus wrote: "Sigh. People still thinking they can win this?"

True, but I still wanna win, whether it's possible or not.

message 19836: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva *laughing at the thought that I would actually think I could long-term "win"* I don't, I just have this horrible procrastination problem so I end up here and think, well why not just win for once? I mean, when Olympic athletes set a record it usually gets broken eventually. Just think of me as the Olympic athlete of typing a message into a comment section.

message 19837: by Lou (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lou It just seems sort of pointless...

message 19838: by Eva (last edited Oct 17, 2018 02:13PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva But if you want a chat thread, I'll start the conversation: Top 5 Books You've Read With a Tween-Teen Main Character
1. Harry Potter
2. Keeper of the Lost Cities
3. Hunger Games
4. Greenglass House
5. Ella Enchanted

What are yours? I know that most of mine are pretty basic choices, but I can't deny that they're great books.

message 19839: by Lou (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lou 1. Percy Jackson
2. Children of Blood and Bone
3. Divergent
4. The Wrath and the Dawn
5. I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have To Kill You

message 19840: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Ooh all good choices. I haven't read most of them but I think I've heard of all but the last one and I want to read most of them.

message 19841: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose Here are mine:

1) PJO/HoO/Basically every Rick Riordan book ever written

2) WoF(I'm pretty sure they're approximate t(w)eenagers, as it is mentioned that Clay is one year away from being a full-grown dragon)

3) 39 Clues(Yeah, I only got into that one cuz book 1 was by Rick Riordan)

4) Universe Jumpers(by me, nowhere near finished, I'm running out of ideas, read what I have already here: https://www.goodreads.com/story/show/... , plz send halp)

5) Shadow Children

Welp this was harder than expected.

OH WAIT HOW COULD I FORGET

6) WARRIOR CATS

And Harry Potter isn't on this list cuz I've never read it. I have no shame.

message 19842: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Oh have you at least tried reading Harry Potter? Because if you haven't you should give it a try! But if you have and don't like it then I of course respect that and that's okay.

message 19843: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose Eva wrote: "Oh have you at least tried reading Harry Potter? Because if you haven't you should give it a try! But if you have and don't like it then I of course respect that and that's okay."

No, I haven't tried. The thickness of the books is just so intimidating.

message 19844: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Oh I know, but when you're reading them you don't even realize because they're so good! But if you don't want to read them that's okay.

message 19845: by Rose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rose Eva wrote: "Oh I know, but when you're reading them you don't even realize because they're so good! But if you don't want to read them that's okay."

No, I don't really wanna read them. I'm perfectly happy being in just the PJO/HoO fandom, the WoF fandom, and the Warriors fandom.

Also, don't ask why I'm up at 3:30 in the morning. I don't know.

message 19846: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Lexington wrote: "Eva wrote: "Oh I know, but when you're reading them you don't even realize because they're so good! But if you don't want to read them that's okay."

Well, that's okay! Also, it was 1:30 here lol.

message 19847: by Eva (last edited Oct 24, 2018 02:39PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva So you like Wings of Fire? I've never read them, but my sister is pretty into them. It sounds sort of similar to Warriors, but with dragons, genre wise. Does that sound right? They sound pretty cool but I'm not sure if I wanna read them. Like you said, I'm perfectly fine with the fandoms I'm part of. :-)

message 19848: by Eva (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva Am I really still winning here? Wow.

message 19849: by Eva (last edited Nov 03, 2018 04:13PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eva So how's it going, any good books on the agenda?

Two for me: Before We Were Yours and Hidden Figures.

message 19850: by Ella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ella Swift Percy Jackson is awesome!
