This series is kind of goofy - more sex than plot. The "cats" are a feline-ish series known as Zetithians whose planet was destroyed when many neighboring species went to war against them because their sexual prowess made other men jealous. Now a few stragglers are left in the universe, and two are on a reptilian planet as slaves to the queen when she gets a Terran to come as a piano teacher. Needless to say, Kyra ends up quickly falling in love with one of them, Tychar, but in one instance has sex with both to relieve the other of his twenty-year drought. There is also a sub-plot of assassination and overthrow, but mostly it is Kyra and Tychar falling in insta-love, having lots of sex, and a small cameo at the end of the couples from the previous two books. Now I don't have anything against the series and may continue it eventually, but I'm not dying to read the next one even though I own it already. :)

Not bad for a YA Dystopian read. I liked the main characters, Evie and Jack. I wish Evie would have gotten over telling Jack her secrets. How he found out would have been a major freak-out for anyone. Evie's "super-power" is weird...like, freaky weird. The whole tarot card thing is strange too. All in all, it was pretty good and I will read the next one in the series.

Review:

Well, what can I say about this book. I liked it but I'm confused. I'm a fan of the Lux series. Obsession is a stand alone adult spin-off novel. In the Lux series the Luxen are the "good guys" and the Arum are the evil bastards that destroyed their world. That is NOT the story we are given in this book however.

There are some pretty serious allegations against the Luxen in this book and I'm wondering how that will play out in the overall scheme of things. This is a stand alone so will anything even come of it. Like I said, I'm confused.

Jennifer Armentrout has a gift for writing sexy, arrogant a**hole aliens that you either want to kiss or punch in the face. It is an ever changing decision. Usually if they are talking it's the latter. But in the end, they always fall for the girl and do the whole alpha male possesive, protective thing.

It was very interesting to learn more about the two alien races. And there was some crossover with groups and characters. Even a brief spotlight with Daemon, though he wasn't mentioned by name. I bet this is even more confusing for people who haven't read the Lux series.

Needless to say I'm really looking forward to Origin. I need answers more now than ever. Hopefully I'll get some.

7/15/13 - Finished my aliens book - Invasion - 3 stars

Well, it's been a long time since I've read Robin Cook's books. I used to devour these types of books many years ago, but now the appeal seems to have gone. This is not to say that this is a bad book - it's not - it is actually a quick read and entertaining. It just lacks something for me.

What I did like about this book was the originality of the aliens. These guys were microscopic which is a new one for me. I also liked the group of people who combined their efforts to thwart the alien invasion. This is where the book picks up a little bit too much medical jargon, but again, that's OK.

The book did read like a made for television book. The chapters had that episodic feel to them. But that's not a bad thing - it makes this book a perfect summer read for the beach, pool, or cabin. It's easy to put down and pick up again.

I finished Born of Shadows by sherrilyn kenyon...07.17.2013 4*...Im really starting to like this author more & more. It took a little bit to get into the characters but as they unfold their story everything starts to make sense. We have love we have family betrayal & we find lost family we never knew we had...great story. Definitely going to read the next book in the "league" series.

I had a hard time staying interested in this book. It's the first Alien book I've read, but I don't think that had anything to do with. Serena (the human) and Hunter (the alien) where interesting characters. The writing wasn't bad. I think it boils down to that its the same old storyline I seem to be reading a lot lately. You know, the one where girl is in trouble...boy (who is sullen and completely against love) is tasked with protecting her...girl and boy fall in love with each other...boy goes ape-crazy when girl is in danger...girl and boy live HEA. Not a bad set-up, but it can get old.

Any-who, I have no intentions of reading the next book in the series. I would recommend this book ONLY if you are not tired of the particular template I described above. Not a bad book, just not for me.

These are two fun novellas in the Immortals After Dark and Alien Huntress series. In the first, it took me a little while to realize that it covered the same time frame as many of the previous books, but because of keeping secrets from everyone else, the events were all new. Murdoch is one of four brothers that are part of the vampire Forbearers and Danii is half-Valkyrie/half-ice fae. That makes for a really weird fated match and it takes quite a while for the two of them to figure out how to make it work. I liked that the time frame covered made falling in love more realistic.

In the second story, Aleaha doesn't know if she is human or alien, but she can take the place of someone whose skin she has touched. When a group of warriors come to Earth from a planet ravaged by a cannibalism virus, they take her and a few other members of her AIR team captive and while she and Breann (the alien leader) fall for each other, there are lots of problems facing them. It was a decent story, although I didn't love it. I enjoy both series so it was a good read overall. Both authors are good writers!

Sadly, I don't have a whole lot to say about this one. I was expecting to love it and it was just middle of the road for me. I love Vlad. He was always one of my favorite characters from the Night Huntress series. I really like Leila too. She's strong, snarky, and goes toe to toe with Vlad. No weak heroines for me, thank you. And still, something was lacking for me. Maybe it was just my mood, maybe it was because it followed Chasing Magic and failed to live up to that, who really knows. I just know that I found myself re-reading paragraphs because I zoned out and couldn't for the life of me tell you what I just read. I took a break for the night and came back to the same thing. It's not bad at all. I know plenty of people who really loved it. I just wasn't one of them. Better luck next time.

7/22/13 - Finished my paranormals shelf book -
- 4 stars

That was awesome! If you haven't heard of this series, I urge you to take a look at it. This is a wonderful urban fantasy series starring Lily Yu, a touch sensitive and FBI agent for the Magical Crimes Division in San Diego and her Lupi mate and overall great looking guy Rule Turner.

I love the world created by Ms. Wilks. There's the werewolf pack and their magic and lore that is passed down through The Lady. Then there be Dragons - yes, huge dragons keeping larger cities safe. There's also Lily's grandmother, a feisty lady full of mystery and magic.

In this installment a sorcerer has attacked one of the wolf pack's own at clanhome. Lily and Rule must find the perpetrator who looks different to each witness. This is a formidable opponent and there are treaties that all parties must abide by.

This is one great series and each book gets better and better. Can't wait to read the next book.

If you're looking for a book with A LOT of sex and a vampire, then this is for you. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good sex scene, but there were multiple ones that went on for pages and pages. It got to be too much.

The main character, Reggie, has a dominate vampire fantasy. She meets a man at a bar, they go back to her apartment and have "tie me up" sex. She falls in love with him after only spending twelve hours with him and then finds out he's a vampire. They decide to get married and she decides to become a vampire. The ending is very rushed compared to the rest of the book. It's just so hard (no pun intended) for me to get behind a book that contains the word "spurted." And yes, it is pertaining to what you are thinking. Oh, and have you ever heard the word "fishwife" used in contemporary writing? I had to look that one up...very awkward.

I will not be reading any other books in the series. I can't believe I spent over six dollars for this book. I think I'm being generous with two stars. It really deserves one and a half stars.
