but I did manage to find 3 possible choices :)

Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1) by Gini Koch & The Legend of Michael (Zodius, #1) by Lisa Renee Jones

Megan L Harnett Ugh this one is going to be hard to pick!

message 155: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought the same thing, hopefully one of the three I picked will turn out to be good :)

message 156: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I've read Grimspace and Touched by an Alien and I enjoyed them both, Kat :)
In fact, my options are from both of those series too Doubleblind (Sirantha Jax, #3) by Ann Aguirre and Alien in the Family (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #3) by Gini Koch . I think I'll read Doubleblind.

Oh actually maybe a book by Linnea Sinclair. Not sure yet.

~Melissa~ | 1616 comments For Aliens I will be reading Blood Queen (Blood Destiny #6) by Connie Suttle

Question Do I have to finish the Dystopian book I chose before I finish this one?? Just started the Hollowland (The Hollows, #1) by Amanda Hocking today ~ wondering if I could read them at the same time. Wasn't sure it mattered or not....

message 158: by [deleted user] (new)

No it doesn't matter melissa, I'm still reading my dystopian book too :)

message 159: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 1616 comments cool - will try to get them both done this week.

Josie | 1967 comments Finally finished my book for angels and demon shelf.

My Soul to Keep (Soul Screamers, #3) by Rachel Vincent

Title/Author: My Soul to Keep by Rachel Vincent
Date finished: 14th July
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: The blurb basically ruined this book for me. After accidently seeing (view spoiler), it made the first half (200 pages) really slow seeing as I knew what was going on and what was going to happen! After getting past that, it got better for me (though I felt like the end bit where (view spoiler) was very sudden).
For some reason, I'm really looking forward to the next one. The storyline seems to be shaping up nicely, I only hope that they deal with a bit of the aftermath (view spoiler).

yay! it looks like we're ready for another stamp :D and I think we only need one more review for Cover Love to get that stamp too !

Good Job Team!

message 162: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 15, 2013 03:45AM) (new)

I've decided to go with Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1) by Gini Koch for the Aliens shelf. I tried out all three and this one seems to have grabbed my attention the most :)

I'm going to try and get all caught up this week with my bingo books.

Megan L Harnett This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
Cover love
7/15/13
★★★☆☆

This book was okay. I listened to it on audiobook and I didn't really enjoy the narrator but the story was ok. The reason it only gets three stars is that I was not in love with the main character. It is the summer before she goes to college and Remy is a anal, annoying brat! I can't really stand her. I know a lot of people love this story but the fact is she is only 18 and already so jaded and doesn't believe in love is just disturbing.

Doubleblind (Sirantha Jax, #3) by Ann Aguirre

Title/Author: Doubleblind by Ann Aguirre
Date finished: 17th July
Rating: 4.5 stars
Review: Excellent book, a great addition to the series! There was less "action" but it was not slow by any means. Jax has really grown from the first book becoming a less selfish person - I hope she hasn't completely curbed her impulsiveness though.

Vel. I love him. I don't care that he's like a big insect, I'm Team Vel :P

(view spoiler)

message 172: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I agree Josie, I thought it a bit strange as well.

LOL. Team Vel!!!!

message 173: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments LOL! How much did you just love him? And I'm wondering (view spoiler)

Will you be moving onto the next book?

message 174: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Definitely, but gotta finish this months reads first.

I was wondering who his lover was that Siri had met, as well. Hadn't thought of that concept though. Interesting!!!

message 175: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments LOL but no doubt completely wrong, just my wishful thinking ;)

You're so good at planning out your reads!

Oh I met an Australian the other day that lives in Sydney (or just outside). Do you live in that part of Australia?

Ender's Game (Movie Tie-In) by Orson Scott Card

Ender's Game by Orsen Scott Card
Finished: July 18,13
Shelf: Dystopian
Rating: 4 stars

Review:
First off I'm going to start out by saying that I don't usually read a lot of Science fiction novels, so after having read Ender's Game and really enjoying it, it think I will be looking into read some more. I found this book every easy to read the writing style was not very complicated or jammed packed with terms that I had no idea what they were talking about. The only thing I was a little disturbed about was how young the character was and what he had to go through but I think Card did a excellent job bringing Ender to life and I look forward to continuing on with the series.

message 177: by [deleted user] (new)

OK I finished my Dystopian book now I'm going to get started on my Alien book hopefully I can have it finished by Saturday before the next call and be all caught up :D

Not really good at planning, cause I usually finish challenges on the last day. LOL. Procrastination central!!

Yep, that's exactly where I live. On the outskirts of Sydney - north west, on 5 acres. Tell me more of your acquaintance.

Sandra | 25908 comments Kat, I loved Ender's Game, glad to see it struck a chord with you as well :)

message 180: by [deleted user] (new)

I did enjoy it very much Sandra, I think another GR friend and myself are going to do a series Buddy read for this series in fall when I have more time to sit a read the whole series from start to finish :)

LOL that's exactly why I don't do so many challenges - there's always 1 or 2 left which I never feel like reading!

Go Kat! I need to read Ender's Game before the film comes out, nice to see you liked it :)

message 183: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Okay this week's shelf is paranormal mix or paranormals
(Judithe's explanation: "As you can see, the actual shelf is much smaller than it originally appears, so we have a second shelf for you as well. A book from either of these shelves can be used for the 'paranormal mix' shelf!")

This gives us 4 in a row (woo!) so if everyone focuses on finishing this shelf first so we're ready in case 'keepers' is called next week :)

Josie | 1967 comments My choice is going to be Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs

message 185: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm going to go with Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee this week, a few people have been reading this one lately and it's been getting great reviews so I'll give it a try :D

Katherine (katdylan) | 34 comments I'm gonna read for paranormal mix: Hunting Julian (Gatherers, #1) by Jacquelyn Frank or Unleashing the Storm (ACRO, #2) by Sydney Croft and Claimed (Brides of the Kindred, #1) by Evangeline Anderson for aliens. Since dystopia isn't really my thing, I'm gonna wait a little more on this one.

I'm not sure I'm missing something, but I see Aliens as week 6, and paranormal mix as week 8? Is this right? Cuz I can't see week 7.

message 188: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Dyllan, Week 6 is Dystopian, Week 7 is Aliens and Week 8 is Paranormal Mix.

If in doubt, they are all listed on the Announcement Shelf thread.

message 191: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Yeah don't worry Dyllan about dystopian at the moment, especially if you're having trouble with it anyway :)
If we all make sure we finish paranormal mix by the end of the week since I think if 'keepers' is called, we'll be racing against another team!

message 192: by [deleted user] (new)

OK I'll put my Aliens book on hold and get reading my Paranormal Mix book tonight :)

message 193: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I haven't started my pick yet! I'm just in the middle of reading Aftermath (Sirantha Jax, #5) by Ann Aguirre so I'll start after this one (I know Endgame will probably be delivered and I'll be tempted to go straight onto that one but I'll try to be good LOL).

message 194: by Megan L (new)

Megan L Harnett The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) by Richelle Mead /Richelle Mead

Shelf: Paranormal Mix
Finished: 7/21/13
Rating: ★★★★★

This is another great story in this series! This series is a spin off from the Vampire Academy series telling the story through the point of view of Syney who is an Alchemist. She is head of the group that is protecting one of the royal vampires. With trying to keep up with hijinks from her group, a new human boyfriend, and vampire hunters she tries to keep it together while making sure nobody gets hurt.

I really like this series, which I am not surprised since I practically devoured the Vampire Academy series. I hope things progress between Adrian and Sydney. I hope she can get over her fear of vampires and decide she wants to be with him. Can't wait for the next book!

message 195: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 1616 comments I'll be reading Running Scared (Sentinel Wars, #3) by Shannon K. Butcher for paranormal-mix shelf
I'll post my review this week for my aliens book and hold off finishing my dystopian book until I'm done with paranormal book. Using it for another challenge should be done by Thursday.

message 196: by Megan L (new)

Megan L Harnett Enslave Me Sweetly (Alien Huntress, #2) by Gena Showalter /Gena Showalter

Shelf: Aliens
Finished: 7/23/13
Rating: ★★★★☆

This story wasn't as good as the first one of the series but it still was a good read. This is the story of Eden who is an alien but she hunts aliens that disrupt the peace on earth. She is partnered with a human named Lucius. They are sent to kill a slave trader and in the midst of it find they are attracted to each other.

I thought this series would continue with the story of the couple in the first book but it was a completely different story. The characters from the first book weren't even mentioned in this book. I don't know if I like it disjointed like that. I would rather have a series flow with the characters from previous books making appearances in other stories. Makes it a true series. Still going to read the rest of them because they are fun reads.

message 197: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Finished for paranormal mix

Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs

Title/Author: Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs
Date finished: 24th July
Rating: ★★★★☆
Review: *There may be general series spoilers ahead*

Okay, I just want to clarify regarding the rating, it's really only a comparison with the rest of the series rather than other books.

Overall, this was a great addition to the series. I read the book fairly quickly so it definitely kept my attention but I enjoyed reading 'River Marked' more. I love how Mercy has grown into herself, the pack and her relationship with Adam - this was shown throughout the book and in her decisions. Asil was present as well! Just thought that was worth mentioning though I would've liked more interaction with him - he just seemed to be there in the room or car with not much of a role. The POV change from first person Mercy to third person Adam was very unexpected. I think I liked it.

The reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was that the pacing was a little strange, especially at the end where there were mulitple jumps back and forth in time. I had to reread the final paragraphs to know when and what was going on. It seemed quite quick and vague, I personally like a bit more of a "let's talk about what happened" between the characters at the end (i.e. between Mercy and Adam, maybe on Asil leaving and how they left things, more about what Bran knew etc).

But overall, enjoyable.
