Review:
My first Jane Austen book and I was pleasantly surprised from the start. The writing style was new to me but I was easily able to understand the story.
I fell in love with Jane and Elizabeth right from the beginning. Mrs Bennet was annoying but still lovable. Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley were perfect and you just can't help but fall for them too.
I loved how Jane and Elizabeth were very close with each other being the 2 oldest girls. The different relationships between the sisters and parents made the story interesting. Watching the relationship between Jane and Mr. Bingley and Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy blossom was wonderful. I found myself rooting for them and every obstacle they encountered.
I will be reading more of Jane Austen!!
Yes I finally finished one!! I was able to read this book because I had a paperback and and e-book. I read it tonight on my way to Cirque du Soliel. Since I wasn't driving I read a lot and just finished after getting back. Now to bed I will head and will pick up either my Assassin book or Free Space book.
Not sure how to get the stars to show up so I used the * instead. Hopefully we can request a stamp with me finishing this book.

Your review made me want to watch P&P all over again. Love Mr. Bingley.
Regina, have a great time camping. You definitely deserve it. Anywhere near Eagle River? I worked there the summer I was 18.

And...OMG...I COMPLETELY forgot to post my review this week...and finished the book last Sunday. Umm...busy?? Getting senile???

Enclave by Ann Aguirre
Shelf 4: Cover Lover
Date finished: 6/23/13
Rating: ★★★★ 1/2
Thoughts:
I fell in love with Ann Aguirre's writing and characters in Sirantha Jax's series. I picked up the first books for two other series by her, but have only recently started them, with Enclave being one of those.
Still feeling the love.
Enclave is an extremely different world. It's our world, post-apocalypse (in this case, the agent was disease) leading to some unique micro-cosmic societies. We enter this world underground, more precisely, the sewers of the former New York City. Our guide is Deuce, a fifteen-year-old, newly named hunter. She hunts food for her community, which is strictly run, and everyone is steered into specific "work" paths. She is the type who would follow her leaders implicitly, as long as they have her trust. Unfortunately, in their harsh dealings with outsiders, and within the community, some cracks appear in Deuce's faith, leading to an unexpected split. Along the way, she picks up some new companions, not necessarily by choice, but not entirely due to her protective nature either.
It is a gritty, but hopeful world. Fascinating details, complex characters that you love and hate at the same time, intriguing inner and outer conflicts...all in all a great read. I'm definitely continuing with this series!

And I agree - so difficult when it's sitting there staring you in the face!

Now really gonna get to bed...

I saw her st a book signing a few months ago and couldn't help myself from buying her book... now I just need to read it!

Covet
Angels & Demons
Gideon
I Am Not A Serial Killer
The Angel Experiment
Storm Front
I am going between:
Covet and Storm Front. I will see which one I can find first then let you know which one I choose.

Monica - I liked Covet as well. I've read all of them in that series.

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'book boyfriends'.
[Your updated BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D

So glad you are enjoying your book, Regina. How is everyone else doing on their reading?
I have not started my book yet. Spent all day yesterday reading Heart of Obsidian. So good!!

I just finished mine, review later today! Very good, and considering a reread of Angelfall while shelf waiting...decisions, decisions.

Going to bed to get some reading done.

I would love to read Bourne Identity again, Monica. I remember really enjoying it. I went through a period of time where I read all of Ludlum's books.
I started my book today. Not sure about it yet.
And Yes, Judithe!! I loved Heart of Obsidian.

I can see why you love the Ludlum's books. I watched the movie the other night.

so sorry that you left your book. I hate that.

Book: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Date finished: 23rd June 2013
Rating: ★★★
Thoughts:
This was actually the second time I tried to read City of Bones. The first time I gave up about half way in and never really gave it a second glance. But I'm one of those people who love to read the book before seeing the movie and the ads for the film coming out in August really motivated me to re-try this book.
I liked the world. Shadowhunters and vampires and shifters - oh my! The characters are interesting - with my favourite being Magnus Bane - and I enjoyed seeing what happened to them.
This being a somewhat old book meant that some of the things that should have been exciting and dramatic had already been slightly spoiled for me by fans but I enjoyed the journey none the less.
I will be reading City of Ashes in the near future.

Thoughts:
I love Jane Yellowrock, and so have been meaning to get to this...but so many books! Lucky for me it was on this week's shelf. Sorry for the late review, I'm got caught up in book 2, Seraphs, and writing the review slipped my mind!
This is earth, post-apocalypse. One result, the Seraphs and other members of the Heavenly Host make an actual appearance, no longer just a matter of faith. Also, some other interesting combinations have shown up. One is the neomages, of which our heroine, Thorne St. Croix, is one. She is a fugitive from Enclave, where the other neomages live, for various reasons, but has to hide her identity from the humans as well, or face a painful death (think Old Testament, stoning, etc. and worse...)
From the GR blurb: Thorn St. Croix is no ordinary neomage. All the others of her kind, mages who can twist leftover creation energy to their will, were gathered together into Enclaves long ago. There, they live in luxurious confinement, isolated from humans and exploited for their magic. When Thorn's powers nearly drive her insane, she escapes - and lives as a fugitive, disguised as a human, channeling her gifts for war into stone-magery and the pacific tasks of jewelry making. But when Thaddeus Bartholomew, a dangerously attractive policeman, shows up on her doorstep and accuses her of kidnapping her ex-husband, she retrieves her weapons and risks revealing her identity to find him. And for Thorn, the punishment for revelation is death....
Well, you know it wouldn't be interesting if she kept her head down and her life continued as before. And that definitely does NOT happen. There are plots on many levels, and it's a fascinating, thrilling ride. Obviously, I'm still reading. Already picked up the final book, and just hoping for a "good" shelf from Mr. R so I can happily read to the end!

And thanks I will fix our pending! Hopefully we can take another pending off soon.
I am almost with my book. It took longer than I thought it would.

Book: Starglass by Phoebe North

Review:
This book is amazing. I am in the process of writing out a longer more detailed review, but wow -- this blew me away. Beautiful writing, wonderful characters and an amazingly unique setting. Everyone should read this. Young adult, coming of age, some romance, spaceships, the end of earth -- and the hope of a new world.
