I read that recently and definitely recommend it. The second in the series is a little slower read, but still good.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 65 comments I've just finished CAST IN SILENCE by Michelle Sagara and I'm now starting ASHES TO ASHES by Jennifer Armintrout.

It's a brilliant book but I'll admit when it came to the the tragic feet part I wanted to do a Joey from Friends and put the book in the freezer!

I'm not sure I could watch the movie at the cinema. I just know I would walk out at the end with red puffy eyes and plenty of well used tissues!

message 56: by Lucille (new)

Lucille (lucillexxelias) | 36 comments i'm reading Grave Peril by Jim Butcher.
I want to read the time travler's wife as well

Stella (stella_exlibris) | 11 comments Hey Everyone, I just stumbled upon this group and since I love Kelley Armstrong's writing, couldn't be happier that there is a reading group dedicated to her novels! :-)

I just finished reading Broken for the first time and though Armstrong's writing style shines through and her bitingly sarcastic, funny dialogues are to die for, I found the main plot, the main mystery not too exciting..

message 58: by Mysticalgoddess (new)

Mysticalgoddess I finished "Silence of the Lambs", awesome book, read "Suicide Blonde", not my favorite, very depressing book. Now I am reading "Lady Chatterly's Lover" and "The God's of Eden" I like them both! Lady is a classic book, so far it's a little slow. The gods are kind of eye opening, and would probably freak people out!

I received LEADER OF THE PACK by Karen MacInerney this morning in the post so ASHES TO ASHES was shelved and I read this instead. I couldn't put it down till I was finished!

message 60: by Lucille (new)

Lucille (lucillexxelias) | 36 comments Just finished Dante's 'Inferno,' an epic poem about his journey through Hell, and Ally Carter's 'I'd Tell You I Loved You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You.' I also just started Catcher In The Rye.

message 61: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) Finished Blue Moon (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #8) by Laurell K. Hamilton by Laurell K. Hamilton and jumped right into [image error] by Laurell K. Hamilton

message 62: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 65 comments Just finished YA fantasy THE SAFE-KEEPER'S SECRET by Sharon Shinn. I highly recommend it as it's a simple, original yet refreshing read with an unexpected twist.

Lucille wrote: "...I also just started Catcher In The Rye."

Oh dear, I feel sorry for you. It took me two months to read that book, I constantly found myself putting it down to do anything else other than read it.

message 63: by Lucille (new)

Lucille (lucillexxelias) | 36 comments yeah... it's kind of strange, and as of yet, I'm not really sure what the plot is. I only started today, and I already started on another book when i got bored 20 pages in..

message 64: by [deleted user] (new)

I started reading The Vampire Academy series by Richelle mead 2 days ago and was immediatly hooked! I've finished reading Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3) like 5 minutes ago and cannot wait for Blood promise. :)

message 65: by Lucille (new)

Lucille (lucillexxelias) | 36 comments i love and adore The Vampire Academy.
So, i just finished Glass Houses, and I thought that it was ok. Last night, i finished Pride, and i think that the series is getting a lot better/showing a lot more potential. and i am about to start 'The Strain.'

Yh i've just started reading The Dead girls dance bk2, this YA series is ok so far and pretty interesting. But it isnt as developed as Vampire Acedemy.
Pride was actually my least favourite book in the shifters series buts its still really good. I think its coz i missed the Ranch and Malone pissed me off so much.

message 67: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) Been awhile since i've updated... finished Obsidian Butterfly, thank god! Needed a break from Anita, so I went back to the brothers! Reading Lover Unbound! Not very far into it, but I love V & Butch!

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished Blood promise by Richelle Mead and...WOW! the ending was amazing. I'm really starting to like Adrian and wouldnt mind if him and rose got together. As for Dimitri...maybe theres still hope

message 69: by Lucille (last edited Aug 30, 2009 10:03PM) (new)

Lucille (lucillexxelias) | 36 comments meh. i bought Blood Promise the day it came out. I feel like it was kind of pointless. Really, they're all kind of in the same situation that they were at the end of Shaddow Kiss, with minor variations.
I did, however, also enjoy Adrian.
Also just read Tricks, by Ellen Hopkins, and she can do no wrong. And finished L J Smith's The Fury, and Dark Reunion, and quite enjoyed it.
Reading The Laughing Corpse by Laurrel Hamilton, and The Society of S by Susan Hubbard.

I really enjoyed Blood Promise. It may not have furthered the story line on that much, but I think it was important for make the physical/emotional journey she did, and there were a lot of interesting reveals. I'm torn on Adrian. I love him to bits, but Dimiti... ;)

Last night I started Greywalker by Kat Richardson. I've heard good things about this series and thought I'd try it out as she's going to be at dragoncon.

Oh and I just finished listening to the audiobook of Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews. I'd already read the book when it came out - but it's probably my favorite new release of the year, and I got sucked up in it all over again. Brilliant!

Sorry but I found this book really really boring so good luck, I hope you like better than I did.

I loved Magic Strikes too. Curran and Kate crack me up! I laughed so much at the last page.

I've recently finished [Book:Fire Study] by Maria V. Snyder, not the strongest book of the Study series but it did wrap everything up. I also finished [Book:Marked] by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast which was ok.

I'm currently in the middle of [Book:Kissing Sin] by [Author:Keri Arthur], the sequel to [Book:Full Moon Rising], which I'm finding difficult to get into. It's quite repetitive and I'm really tempted not to finish it.

message 72: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) Since posted last I finished Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward , started and finished Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer, #3) by Karen Chance and am back to the Brothers and Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward

message 77: by Stella (new)

Stella (stella_exlibris) | 11 comments Meeka, in my opinion it is best to read the books in order, to see everything (different species, events that happened, new characters, etc.) more clearly. I liked DSM, but its sequel (Industrial Magic) was even better! :-)

message 79: by Stella (new)

Stella (stella_exlibris) | 11 comments Meeka, you can find the chronological order of the Othwrworld series here: http://www.kelleyarmstrong.com/mSerie... click on the "Series in chronologocal order (novels only)". It makes it easier to see through how all the novels follow each other.

And have you read Stolen after Bitten? that is the 2nd book in the series, and the sequel of Bitten.

message 80: by Meeka (new)

Meeka | 7 comments Thanks again. No i didnt read Stolen but realized there must have been another 1 as I was reading Broken. Im alil upset about that but i will read it. I have a hold on 2 more books they seem to be hard to find at my local libraries

message 86: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) I just finished Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews , i have to say this is a good series, but i'm not in love with it! I love the character and the world but for some reason it's just not grabbing me like some other series do. Definitely going to continue with it tho. I'm currently reading Storm of Visions (The Chosen Ones, #1) by Christina Dodd

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

I just got finished reading Odd Thomas...WOW! This book had me feeling all kinds of emotions while reading it. I was laughing, then wanting to shoot someone, then wanting to throw up, then just flat crying. I figured i knew how it would end and then a twist of the story made me doubt myself and then i was totally unprepared for the ending!

Now i am going to start the second book in the Odd Thomas series... Forever Odd

message 88: by [deleted user] (new)

message 97: by James (new)

James Gouldsborough (jamesgoldygouldsborough) | 7 comments I quite like the Cabal saga in the otherworld series. Seems a hell of a lot more interesting than your typical werewolf chasing werewolf.

However i do like the wrewolf theme just prefer the paige n lucas stories or even hope stories better.

BTW i'm currently reading The Interpretation of murder by Jed Rubenfeld. Hell of a book.

message 100: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 65 comments Sarah, Shift has been out in the UK for a couple of weeks. I bought and read mine as soon as I heard from Bookdepository.co.uk - it was EXCELLENT! Alpha is going to be EPIC!

Where did you get your copy of Black Magic Sanction? It doesn't come out in the UK until April 29th.
