Stevo (stevop) | 230 comments I'm in the home straight with Divergent and it has REALLY hit its stride. Nonetheless, I might put it on ice in two days to start a Christmas book!

Andrew✌️ (andrew619) | 335 comments I'm reading Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, a pleasurable book, easy to read and funny. It's like a roleplay, with the heroes, a quest and an enemy, mixed with the technology of our century and his idols (company, gadget and people).

message 3653: by Messier110 (new)

Messier110 | 29 comments I enjoyed the journey up until what happens to Stuart Redman. After that, the ending and the ending of the ending was kind of annoying.

To me, IT was just perfect. A little long, but I didn't notice the length as much as the Stand.

message 3654: by Aditya (new)

Aditya Finished The Waste Lands The Waste Lands (The Dark Tower, #3) by Stephen King by Stephen King.

The book is too inconsistent for my liking, the first part is a drab rehash of its much better predecessor The Drawing of The Three. Once Roland's rag-tag band of warriors are assembled, the second half of the book picks up, racks up the tension to the fullest introducing memorable villains only to end on a cheap and anticlimactic cliffhanger. There is a good story waiting to be told with these characters in this setting but they are buried under an avalanche of filler for the book to be considered anything more than just another average addition to the King canon. Rating - 3/5.

E. | 242 comments Andrew, I loved Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore. I truly enjoyed the mix of dusty old mysterious tomes with the contemporary google-infused society. It's definitely one of my favorites.

I just finished A Head Full of Ghosts. That was an awesome creepy story. And that ending!!

Halfway through Trust Your Eyes, it's kind of a situational thriller. I'm laughing out loud while yelling "no way!" with each little twist and complication. It's a good one.

message 3657: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey (klpurcell) I just finished Brain on Fire - that's a powerful and terrifying book. I'm stuck now because I don't know what to read next - I got too many books for Christmas.

Stevo (stevop) | 230 comments Bazaar of Bad Dreams. Are they all individually listed on Goodreads? (Looks like the first two or three are, anyway.) I might be setting my 2016 target at 40 books, if so!

message 3669: by Nick (new)

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Into the Bazaar (and finally learning how to spell "Bazaar" in the process) and Misery at the same time. It's turning out to be a dead on comparison of old and new King. We'll see how it goes, and maybe it's unfair, but so far OLD Stevie (not to denigrate Bazaar but) is winning hands down.

I've finished last year Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore and I agree with you: it's a great book. I loved the part of mystery but also the quest with the addition of gadgets and companies taken from our society.
