What Are You Reading Now? Pt 2.

Big Jim is one of my all time favourite villains.
- The classic politician who never lets a good crisis go to waste.
- Several people fatally underestimate his capabilities.
- Cre..." King has said in interviews that Big Jim was loosely modeled on Dick Cheney.

Wizard and Glass is my favorite of the series! Happy reading!

The Long Walk is one of my very favorite stories. Not just of King's, but of anyone's. And to think he wrote it as a teenager.

I was wondering how Spare was. I have seen quite a few negative reviews for it.

Out of curiosity I checked the library's database and there's already almost 5,000 people in the queue as the library waits for the shipment. Over 1,000 copies will be ordered it seems.
Someday I'll want to read it but after the hype dies down. I never try to get a newly released book as there will be a long queue and I won't be able to renew it if I don't finish it in 3 weeks.
And anytime a TV series or movie is out based on books, everyone wants to read the book(s) and those will be checked out.

I wouldn't mind reading it one day either but I feel the same way as you, waiting until all the hype dies down. There is no way I would try to get it from a library now. I haven't checked my local library but I have no doubt the wait list is long. Typically with new releases, they only give you two weeks and you can't renew it.
I think there may be a GR giveaway for it too.

Taking a break from fiction for a bit and focusing on positive thoughts and vibrations. Have a growing number of fiction books waiting and each time I come on Goodreads I find a few more to add.

Have you seen the Divergent movies?

@Erin I have seen all 3 of the movies. Normally I would read the book before the movies, so this is a different experience for me. I have to say even though I know where the story is going, very much enjoying the book version and finding it hard to put the book down. I like that the book seems to closely follow what I remember of the movie with a few differences.

I personally thought the books were better than the movies. When you are done with the series, I would recommend checking out Four: A Divergent Story Collection.

I liked Red Dragon even more than Silence of the Lambs!

I'm looking forward to reading the series!

@Erin thank you for the suggestion. I finished Insurgent this morning - a few differences from the movie like Jeanine's death and who is responsible - so now very curious about where things will go in book 3 which I am starting later today. Very curious about where the book will go as I think the movie just covered half the book, been awhile so I don't remember. Very much enjoying the read and like Stephen King books, I find it hard to put the book down and get to other things.

Today starting

Have very much enjoyed reading the series. This weekend planning to rewatch movie 1 and 2 while the books are still fresh to see how closely they follow the books.
This series reminds me of

Children of Midgard: The Freyerton Saga, Volume 1 https://amzn.eu/d/iJjlG9S
Love it have go ppl he letting read for a review very nice to talk to

It came up on my good reads today so this is what chilling and reading tonight

@Erin now that I have finished the series and watched 2 of the movies this weekend - tonight Allegiant, I agree the books are better. Plus I now realize how many differences there were from the books that I had forgotten as I watched the movies years ago. I still enjoyed the movies, but books have more depth and I prefer the story - except the ending - lots of tears and always bugs me when after going through soooooooo much a major character gets killed off.
Yes I am that person who prefers a happy ending that makes all that hardship and struggle worth it, I think now more than ever in a world where so many things have gone topsy turvy.

I haven't seen the movies in awhile but from what I remember, there were quite a few differences, especially as the movies progressed they seemed to depart quite a bit from the book series.

Big Jim is one of my all time favourite villains.
- The classic politician who never lets a good crisis go to waste.
- Several people fatally underestimate his capabilities.
- Creates his own police state by surrounding himself with idiots who can be easily bullied and manipulated.
- Everyone is expendable, even a close family member
- Expert at creating fear, uncertainty and doubt
- Deliciously hypocritical
