I thought both books were great also. I've just read Caroline Kepnes's third (?) book, Providence, and while I liked that one as well, I didn't find it quite as compelling as either You or Hidden Bodies. It's a fascinating literary exercise she's undertaken with that third book, though; kind of a unique take on H.P. Lovecraft's story "The Dunwich Horror" ... in the form of a kind of bizarre love story. (!)

Robert Kratky (bolorkay) | 54 comments I realize this is an "apples and oranges" kind of question but are there any contemporary vampire books that are "better" than George RR Martin's "Fevre Dream" ? Admittedly my exposure to contemporary vampire literature is woefully lacking but I wonder about this. Even after my first exposure to this novel over thirty years ago GRRM's effort in this genre still remains, for me a very high watermark. As much as I love "Game of Thrones" , Mr. Martin's shorter, more compact efforts is something to be enjoyed as well.

I think the show is good but I also haven't read You yet so I can't really compare the two.

I have never read Fevre Dream. What about it did you like and are you looking for something similar?

There is a vampire books group that you could also ask:

Try reading the passage trilogy by Justin Cronin. It is more a cross between vamps and zombies but I thing you will like it.

I loved this book, and this reminds me I need to get to the sequel some time soon. Hope you enjoy it.

As for me, I'm working through Ghost Story and just started Roadwork. Along with a plethora of others I should probably focus on instead of starting new ones.

There are a lot of interesting ways to bring on the post-apocalypse, from a writer's point of view, and the cause determines the state of the world. (view spoiler)
