Over in a Flash - hopefully will be a reoccurring challenge.

I stole this idea (with permission) from the SOS: Serious Overload of Series group.

Over in a Flash ~ Cover Hunt & Theme Challenge ~

Duration: June 1st through June 30th.

Rules: Read 2 books with the following items found on their covers; choose 2 of the 3 options below. Be sure to post your book covers, dates read, and star ratings. If you want, you can do this at the end of the month after you reviewed your covers. Feel free to do all three, or more, if you want.

Member Choosing: June has been a GoodReads member since January, 2013, and a participant of Happily Ever After Café since March, 2013. She likes books that make her laugh or cry. Also chick-lit, contemporary, classic literature, mystery, self-help, and memoirs or biography.

HOLIDAY THEMES: (1) National Doughnut Day: {June 1st} Read a book with a cover that you think looks delicious, (and it doesn't have to be food, LOL!) (2) National Trails Day: {June 2nd} Read a book where the character goes hiking, camping, or to summer camp; or one that takes place in small town, or countryside. (3) Weed Your Garden Day: {June 13th} Read a book where the main character loves to garden, or they have a flower name, or the book’s title has the word “garden” or a flower name in it. (4) Father’s Day: {June 17th} Read a book where the main character is a father or will be a father, or where the character has “daddy” issues. (5) Summer Solstice: {June 22nd} Read a summer or beach themed book. (6) International Fairy Day: {June 24th} Read a book about fairies - or the fae - or is a fairy tale retelling. (7) Meteor Day: {June 30th} Read a book with a title that has the words “moon,” “star,” or “night” in it; or the main characters is into astronomy; or just love stargazing; or the cover featured a night sky.

ITEMS: June’s Birthstones are pearl, alexandrite, and moonstone. Its flower is the rose. Zodiac Signs are Gemini and Cancer. Other cover items are summer, camp, beach, cocktail, flip-flop, hat, wedding, road-trip, camping, bicycle, and pet.

This is going to fit in with my personal summer reading challenge that I'm currently working out the details for, so I'm in. I need a little bit of clarification, though.

This part of the rules confuses me: "Read 2 books with the following items found on their covers; choose 2 of the 3 options below." Is that an either/or situation, i.e., two different rules?

If we want to do say, 3 things, can we mix it up, by choosing a pink or blue cover for one; a holiday theme for two; finally, a cover with one of those listed items on it for three? Alternatively, could we do 3 of the holiday themes and no color/no item on cover? Or does the "choose 2 of the 3 options below" mean we cannot do that and we MUST choose either 1 item and 1 holiday OR 1 holiday and 1 color OR 1 item and 1 color?

Man, that came out wordier than I intended...

Not exactly sure of the rules but I always choose as many books from whatever category. If I decide not to do a category I leave it. My post is # 7 if that helps you any. This time I actually chose from all three and ended up with 5 books.

4. Meteor Day: (The main character shares a tradition with her mother. Whenever she feels upset or "lost", she makes herself find 3 constellations before deciding that she is okay and has her bearings again. This occurs multiple times in the book and it is important in the scheme of her splintered relationship with her mom). DONE! June 2, 2013. 5 stars.
