I'd forgotten about Marcone's secret. I'd thought I knew who she was but Lauren's comment made me doubt. So I guess I'll have to wait and find out, (again) with the rest of you! ^_^
Gisela’s Questions & Lisa Kay’s Answers for Chapters 28-33
Whew! There's so much going on in the last few chapters!
52- Were you surprised that (view spoiler)?
I was stunned Cassius was masquerading as Father Vincent! I had already listened two chapters before I read ShoSho’s declaration.
53- What did you think of Quintus Cassius playing with Michael’s morality and of the revelation of the Knight’s purpose?
It was frustrating, but expected based on Knight’s belief.
54- Were you surprised by Sanya’s revelation? Do you think it makes sense for Sanya to claim to be agnostic after being a Denarian and while wielding a Holy sword?
Again, ShoSho guessed it and it made sense with the ‘traitor’ remark. I was funny, but I went with it. I’ve met people like that, with similar analogies.
55- “People like you always mistake compassion for weakness. Michael and Sanya aren’t weak. Fortunately for you, they’re good men.” I loved Harry’s defense of Michael and Sanya. “Unfortunately for you, I’m not.” Harry contrasts himself with Michael and Sanya, do you think he really believes he’s not a good man? Why or why not?
I agree with Lauren: Harry see’s darkness within him. (LOVED what Lauren said about “black-grey-white” for Q#59!!! I’m sure, as ShoSho said, it has to do with his history with Justin.
56- Ortega has presented himself as having old-fashioned honor and yet he (view spoiler). What did you think of that?
I figured he’d try something and I didn’t believe his word.
57- Just a comment. Seems Thomas is not quite the airhead he seems, and I'll be honest he's one of my favorite sidekicks, along with Murphy of course.
So it seems. Glad he helped, because I like him, even if he is a ‘drunken, chemical-besotted playboy who does nothing but cavort, sleep, and feed.’ Also glad he followed Harry’s orders to save Susan.
58- Shiro took Harry's place and now Harry has custody of Fidelacchius. Do you think that Nicodemus is afraid of Harry like Shiro says? Why or why not?
I think there is more to it that than. I think Nicodemus knows something about Harry that we don’t yet know.
59- Were you surprised that Harry called Marcone for backup? Did you like him as a sidekick?
Yes, I was surprised, but I loved it. JB has a way of making me like people who I probably wouldn’t in Real Life. I loved the train setting and Marcone pulling a knife on Nicodemus, not to mention how he used the Shroud to save Harry and Michael.
60- Harry's comment about Wagner is another example of the humor Butcher uses throughout the series. I thought it funny that already Gard had "Ride of the Valkyries" on hand.
Yee haw! It was perfect.
61- Harry figured out Nicodemus’s weakness, had you figured it out too or were you surprised?
I’d figured it out – one of the few things I had. Nevertheless, I, didn’t expect Harry to strangle him with it, I thought he’d just have to remove it. Nor did I know the history of the Barabbas curse.
62- I laughed out loud when Harry woke up in the morgue!
Really! I’d be shouting the same thing Harry did. Love that Murphy was there, too.
63- Shiro’s letter! Thoughts?
It was sad, but I’m sure Harry was comforted knowing the sacrifice Shiro made for him in place of an inevitable death anyway.
64- Susan and Harry end of story?
I keep saying yes and I’ve been wrong so far. Still, he put all those mementoes away. And I think it helps that Harry knows Susan has a cause she can fight for – and that she can fight!
65- Remember Asteroid Dresden and Ebenezar’s innocent search for a telescope? It wasn’t so innocent after all!
I think Ebenezar is more devious than I first thought! LOL! I was with Lauren in thinking that it wouldn’t be the last we saw of Ortega. Hope it really is.
66- What did you think of the reason Marcone wanted the Shroud? Did it change your perception of him?
Yes, it was nice to know he cared for someone other than himself.
67- Harry ends up with Lasciel’s coin. Why did Nicodemus offer that particular coin to Harry? What consequences will Harry face for picking it up?
This really perked my attention. Freaked me out he touched the coin. I wasn’t quite sure why he buried it. Is he holding in reserve for some reason? Makes me wonder if and how he’ll use it in future books.
68- Any last thoughts?
Glad Harry got his duster and Beetle back! Though, I’m with ShoSho, I wanted to know if the teenage girl – Jane Doe – was alright. Not to mention wondering who she is; I figure she’s Marcone’s daughter or niece.

@Gisela,#66 - No I don't know who she is but I'm thinking either sister, daughter or wife. Leaning more toward sister or daughter because of the teddy bear.
@ShoSho68- Hmm...yes. The Egyptian was never explained. Maybe in a later book?
Again, we might be seeing more of the girl in the future - healed or unhealed because she is obviosuly important to Marcone.
Nicodemus needs his ass kicked in a BIG way!

#60 - Now I'm really intrigued about Gard. Does anyone know which book she is in next?

I think it's book 10.
I went to the bookstore yesterday and bought the next three books... so, I'm good to go.
