I will add two more. Both happen to be by the same author, Margaret Atwood.Oryx and Crake
The Handmaid's Tale
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. It's one of my favorites! I also agree with Bird about Margaret Atwood.
For post-apocalyptic writing, I've found this link to be a nice list. I'm currently on a post-apocalyptic fiction kick myself and am just hitting the last quarter or so of A Canticle for Leibowitz which I'm highly enjoying. After this I will be reading The Road, both of which are on the list linked above. Stephen King's The Long Walk is a personal favorite. As far as utopian literature, Charlotte Perkins Gilman wrote Herland and Ursula Le Guin wrote The Left Hand of Darkness.
There are many. But my favorite by far is: The Dispossessed An Ambiguous Utopia by Ursula K. Le Guin.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I'm not sure if it's a Distopia book exactly, but it reminded me a lot of Uglies. :D Unwind by by Neal Shusterman, too. In fact, Unwind and Uglies are quite a bit alike.
Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge PiercySnow Crash by Neal Stephenson
Neuromancer by William Gibson
The Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov
The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell
Kindred by Octavia E. Butler
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
Stranger in a Strange Land?

I am looking for books that either describe what a perfect human society would look like/how it would operate, or suggest a society that seems perfect in some ways but actually is horrible.
Examples/Ones I have already read
- Utopia
- Walden 2
- The Giver
- Brave New World
- 1984 (I am actually not sure this fits, but people always include it with Brave New World)
- Uglies
Add to my list, please!!
