30-day Challenge! - Day 2: A book you have read more than three times
Put me down for Pride & Prejudice too. Oh and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil - fantastic book.
Suzie wrote: "...Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil - fantastic book."I first heard about that book on goodreads, never had come across it before. Looks interesting!
Bridge of Birds: A Novel of an Ancient China That Never Was, Barry Hughart (5x)Harry Potter series (3x)
A Wrinkle in Time series, Madeleine L'Engle (3x)
The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey (4x)
The Hobbit (4x) & Lord of the Rings (2x)
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.
I read the first four Harry Potter books at least 30 times each when I was a kid. I left them lying around the house, and whenever I passed by one I would flip to a random page and just start reading. I even tried memorising them once, but I didn't get very far with that. I think I've read Romeo and Juliet at least three times too. I can't think of any other book that I've read three times, unless you count my school textbooks!
Kalyn wrote: "To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee"Looking forward to reading it. I read somewhere online that the author finally accepted it to be available in kindle :)
May 2nd Entry:I'm going to be reading the entire series again, and it will be for the 3rd time this year.
I have read this book when it first came out, and in my college class: children's literature. Will be reading again this year. I feel it brought back the joy of reading to children.
The book I have read 3 times is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling.
This year I read A Cry of Angels for the third time after it sat on my shelf for 30 years. It's still a great read and one of my favorites,

I hope you don't mind, but I copied your post up into a new thread in the Mockingbird Book Discussions Folder:

Bud, Not Buddy
and
Because of Winn-Dixie
These are the only ones I believe I've read 3 times at least.
My groaning bookshelves would attest to the fact that I read many books numerous times (otherwise I'd just borrow a library copy), so the hard part is picking one - since no one's mentioned it yet and I know people use these answers for ideas for their own next book, I'll say Dune by Frank Herbert.
The Road may be the only one other than children's books. And it's only because I taught it several times.
I noticed that I have already answered this question, the situation hasn't changed. (Though there might have been one children's/youth book that I read first for myself and then for a book report because I had liked it that much.)Kelly wrote: "And I think I'm the only person in the world who hasn't read any of the Harry Potter books. I've got to get on that!"
I haven't read them either. Tried the first one, maybe more than 10 years ago(?), but it felt too childish. I don't think I got even past the first chapter.
I've read Harry Potter books 1 to 6 multiple times, but the seventh book was a bit of a disappointment and I read that only once (or one and a half times, as I quited the Finnish translated version about half way).
I think the only book that I read 3+ times is Animal Farm There are just too many good books to read :)
Watership Down, the best Christmas pageant ever, the Mists of Avelon, Foundation Trilogy. There is a list for ya lol
Sue wrote: "Watership Down, the best Christmas pageant ever, the Mists of Avelon, Foundation Trilogy. There is a list for ya lol"I do believe I've read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever multiple times as well. :-)
I've read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland as a child and as an adult twice or thrice, The Wind in The Willows twice and Pride and Prejudice twice.
I think there are only two that I have read more than twice. The Bible, and The Lord of The Rings + The Hobbit. (counting that as a single story)My review of LOTR: http://100greatestnovelsofalltimeques...
Pride and PrejudicePersuasion
Harry Potter Boxset
Enid Blyton Collection
Heidi
Wings of Fire: An Autobiography
Jane Eyre
When I was in elementary school I practically had Little Women memorized. Later, it was Dandelion Wine that I tried to read at the beginning of every summer. Then, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values, but I only read that maybe three times. I love knowing a book really well. Time to pick a new annual re-read!
Pride and Prejudice, The Stand, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. These are re-reads every year few years for me.
Pride and Prejudice, The Stand, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. These are re-reads every year few years for me.
Crime and Punishment, because I couldn't get into it the first two times and Slaughterhouse Five which I loved.
A Tale of Two Cities, Anne of Green Gables, The Sign of the Anchor (I really loved that one as a child) and a dozen others....
House of the Spirits, How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent; entire Harry Potter series; All of a Kind Family series when I was a kid.
I don't reread books. Maybe once after a long time. But not usually. When I was in middle school I really loved this book called Përtej Largësive so I reread it many times. Set during the Bellum Batonianum, it tells the story of two military leaders fallin in love with the same woman, risking to create a conflict among the revolting tribes and divide their forces along tribal lines, and do the Romans' job for them. The end message is one of unity for a greater cause even if personal matters divide you.
I rarely re-read, so the list is short:Ender's Game
Vorkosigan-series:
Mirror Dance
A Civil Campaign
Memory
However, I have read all Harry Potter books two times. Once for myself and some years later for the kids.
Rick wrote: "Earth Abides by George R. Stewart. A little dated at this point but a powerful story."Only read it once. I may read it again someday.
Oh goodness, I have read so many books more than three times and would only do that for books that I love...but I'll choose Mary Stewart King Arthur 5 Books Collection Set Magical Merlin The Crystal Cave because they have been read so many times I can no longer count.
