Okay I got done reading The Immortals Where All the Dead Lie by J.T. Ellison I reallu loving her series of Taylor Jackson I hope she write more of the series now I need to start on her Samantha Owens Series I heard its good too

I got Ice by Linda Howard read the book was a hit/miss with me it wasnt one of my favs but also not as bad but not as good as Linda other books are

And last night I finally got done reading Carved in Darkness by Maegan Beaumont Done I am so glad i won this book i never read anything from this person and I check amazon for her 2nd part of the series and after christmas i am gonna try to get it. Also told my aunt she should read the book too she would really love it.

Now I am started on these books since its too cold to do nothing this is what i am done over my christmas vaction lol

Am reading . I'm not sure I like this book yet because of the subject matter. I'm 100 pages into it. Well written, but?? If you like the walking dead(TV ) you probably will like this.

Just finished Gideon I really liked this book because it didn't have a lot of bells and whistles of law enforcement, FBI, CIA or court trials. Just your simple crime read with a great ending.

I am now reading Triptych The first book of the Will Trent series.

I just started reading The Nightingale Before Christmas by Donna Andrews which, appropriately enough, begins on December 20th.

The wonderful/annoying thing she does is end each chapter with a mini-cliffhanger (a loud crash came from downstairs) that makes it impossible for you to put the book down because you have to see what happened!

I'm reading HOUSE OF SILK by Anthony Horowitz. I love a good Sherlock Holmes book.

I've read that Bridget. I wasn't expecting much, to be honest, but was pleasantly surprised. I thought it a good introduction to Holmes, especially for younger readers, who might find Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's language a bit dated.

Just finished The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown. What a wonderful, heart rendering and inspiring book. Who knew non-fiction could be so riveting.?

I read that book earlier this year and absolutely loved it. It was so uplifting! I had my book group read it for December, and they all loved it too. It's one of the few books I have no problems recommending to anyone.

Called into my local Hospice shop this morning to donate several books & thought i may as well have a quick look-see. Wasn't expecting to find anything, as they seem to have mostly 'popular-but-boring' books. But then i spotted & . $6 for the both of them. I didn't realize 'Sleepers' was made into a film, starring Brad Pitt

Robert De Niro
Kevin Bacon
Dustin Hoffman, among other well known actors.

Both books & movie look really good. Clearly i will have to call into the Hospice shop more often.

I just finished House of Silk. Totally loved it! Intriguing, spellbinding, in the likeness of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in style-characters responded in ways I expected. Well Done, Anthony Horowitz. I especially like Sherlock's compassion for the street kids.

Love the 'Dortmunder' series Mike. So different from Donald Westlake's alter ego Richard Stark's 'Parker' series, which i also liked.

I just acquired 'Tarantula' (aka. Mygale) by Thierry Jonquet. It's a psychological thriller/horror novel & looks rather hair-raising & not at all for the squeamish.

It was made into a movie; "The Skin I Live In (Spanish: La piel que habito) is a 2011 Spanish psychological thriller film written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar, starring Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Marisa Paredes, Jan Cornet, and Roberto Álamo. The Skin I Live In is based on Thierry Jonquet's novel Mygale, first published in French and then in English under the title Tarantula. Here's another potentially intriguing novel i acquired today.
I loved , having read it as a teenager & again last year. I enjoyed it even more on my 2nd reading. Here's a sequel, , i got today, not by Wyndham, of course, but apparently faithful to the original & the story resumes 25 years after Wyndham's classic.
Needless to say, it's on my TBR list.

The original is one of the best old sci-fi books out there. It never gets old.

Finished Escape, by Dominique Manotti. Very interesting novel.

Just finished Classic police procedural that presents a very uncompromising look at police officers and police work. Interesting more than entertaining but I recommend it highly for a relatively unbiased look at city police work today.

Right now, it's still a free download for Kindle but I've already purchased the 2nd book in the series, which doesn't happen all that often for me.

Imperfect Strangers by David Staniforth

My rating: 4 of 5 stars


Sally has friends who are bitches.

When they are being cruel to the night-watchman in their workplace, Sally smiles at him in sympathy.

It is probably the biggest mistake she is ever going to make....

I was hooked on this book from the opening paragraphs.

David Staniforth has done a great job of writing this psychological thriller.

It is a fast paced, but easy read. The author obviously has a sense of humour which he unleashes every now and then, and has researched his subject well.

I am looking forward to further books from this author.

I am currently reading . It is more of a sci fi thriller since it discusses a disaster caused by the use of some tainted gas used by police on protesters. We begin to speculate that the terrorists that are generating the unrest of the citizens might have sabotaged the gas. Citizens, after being sprayed, become zombie in their behavour. Only those with survival cellars with enough supplies will survive. I have read about 3/4 of the book and am really enjoying it. I'll give a complete review when I finish.

I discovered Barbara Cleverly earlier in the year. She has two series, one a Scotland Yard detective, the other a fantasy about a young woman and Sheroock after his retirement. Sandilands has several in India, so I learned a lot. The Sherlock a little slow. But once you accept the premise, quite fun.

Her latest, "Enter Pale Death ," in the Sandilands series we finally got from the library. An incredible wait! So there must be many Cleverly fans. Read both in order or there will be much confusion!
