I saw many good comments on this author. Do you recommend to start from first book or can I go to this book
?
I just finished
. It was another freaky religious killer. I am starting to see a continuous theme in this series.
I recently finished Blake Crouch's Wayward Pines Trilogy,
,
and
, they were very good and it's been made into a tv series, can't wait to see it.

They are all stand-alone stories, but the build up and knowledge of the characters starts at the beginning. If possible, I would recommend starting at the first one. I was recommended to do it that way, and I'm glad I did:)
Hi Everyone.New to the group. I just started Elizabeth Little's "Dear Daughter," which I think JUST came out. I saw that it was recommended by Entertainment Weekly and so I picked it up. So far I love the protagonist's voice. She's not always the nicest person, which is nice to see with a woman protagonist.

The first time I read the book I took it on a trip and went tubing near Virginia Tech. The book survived the trip as a held onto my bag for dear life as we went through some rapids. I did save both my copy of the book and our beer. PTI

And all the things we can learn from each other.

Just finished Peter Pan Must Die: A Novel by John Verdon. It was good, but at times I wished it would move along a little faster. I seem to recall feeling like this with previous Verdon books as well.Later this evening, I'll be starting Immoral by Brian Freeman.
I finished two recently, mixed opinions! The Final Cut
I truly enjoyed the start to this new series. The story was thrilling and a page turner. Will keep an eye out for the next one!
The One Minute Manager
This is about as far as you can get from a mystery / crime book, but my girlfriend, who studies HR, lent it to me. Not impressed. Not at all.
Both my reviews are on the book pages if you feel like reading them.
Keeping on with In Cold Blood in the meantime!

I finished The Zahir and I was disappointed specially after liking his other books: The Alchemist and Veronika Decides to Die very much. I didn't really connect with the book.now I'm reading The Last Policeman and enjoying it so far
I just finished She Is Risen by Travis Adams Irish.
I loved the cover to the book! This book had a very unique plot as I have not read a book with this sort of topic. The book was well written and the characters were well developed. I found it confusing at times as they were going from character storyline to another. After a few chapters as a reader and listener you catch on. I have to say that the storyline disturbed me. To think that the CIA would watch individuals they deemed high risk on cameras and try to control the outcome disturbed me immensely. The ending wasn't exactly a happy one but the people that were in the wrong met some form of justice. I must have missed what happened to a former agent Devlin as I felt that wasn't answered. I wished that was answered.
I just finished Dear Daughter by Elizabeth Little. I really enjoyed it. If you don't like sarcasm or flawed main characters, then you might not enjoy it as much as I did. Up next, I'm going cozy and reading Mother's Day out by Karen MacInerney.

How are you enjoying In Cold Blood, so far? I'm over half way and like Capote's writing style very much...
Bec wrote: "I'm enjoying the Bryant and May series, The Peculiar Crimes Unit"I agree with Jan C. I loved the first one, especially. And it's a reliably good series.
I finished Blowback by Valerie Plame. As the story opens, CIA operative Vanessa Pierson is meeting her Iranian asset - a nuclear physicist - in Vienna. The physicist reveals that Bhoot - an arms supplier wanted by the CIA - will soon be at a nuclear facility in Iran. Before the informant can reveal the facility's location he's assassinated by Chechen sharpshooter Pauk. So Vanessa sets off on a country-hopping odyssey to find the location of the nuclear facility, capture Bhoot, and stop Pauk. Vanessa is a daredevil rogue agent who defies rules so she has to hide many of her activities from her bosses in the CIA, a maneuver that may get her booted off the case. This is story with plenty of action but limited depth. A good choice for a vacation read.
Took an hour to read something I totally forgot aboutThe Yellow Wallpaper
Quite a powerful short story!

I am about 65% finished with Deadly Heat
and after that, I have no clue what I'm going to read. I have too many options lol. Suggestions? I want something to knock my socks off! :)
I finished The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling). In this second book in the series, private detective Cormoran Strike - an Army veteran who lost a leg in the Afghanistan war - is hired to find eccentric writer Owen Quine. Before long Strike finds Quine - dead and disemboweled. Quine was a nasty guy who had written a book maligning almost everyone in his orbit: his agent, editor, publisher, wife, mistress, fellow writers, etc. Thus there are plenty of suspects in this mystery, which is essentially a cozy. As in the first book in the series Strike's secretary and assistant Robin Ellacott - who longs to be a detective herself - helps with the investigation. Strike's financial woes make it necessary for him to work on other cases while looking for Quine's killer and these investigations - which generally involve getting evidence on cheating spouses or lovers - were entertaining additions to the main story. For me the resolution of the mystery wasn't completely satisfying. However I enjoyed the book and would read more adventures involving Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott.
Okay I got done reading Missing You by Harlan Coben I so couldnt put it down but also I am also Knew how the book would end with Kat & Jeff I wasnt shock still it was a good book! Now I am reading The Other Woman by Hank Phillippi Ryan So far Its very good I am on page 100 first tiem i ever read anything from this person
I'm half way through Lock 14 by Georges Simenon - ancient stuff :-). Not bad but perhaps not one of his best.

Do yourself a huge favor and go there between October and May. We went in August one year and the heat index was 117 and it was beyond humid. And I live in FL!
There are tours there that take you to the places in the book, though, so it's well worth it.

As I mentioned before, I'm reading
. Am not crazy for Iles as an author. This book I will finish as I seem to be a dedicated reader who when reads more than 100 pages will persevere until the end. The story is ok if you like the idea of transmigration of souls.
