I wouldn't have a clue what the first book was that I read. I have been reading since I was 3 years old. :) So it probably was some kind of kids/picture book.

All the books in my life? I have read over a thousand (and more) books. I don't even remember all of them, and what I do remember is what is on my list. I only started to keep track since I joined this site.Though I don't think I can pick one favourite out of all those I do remember. I just got too many books I liked.
I have no clue either. Probably a Dr. Seuss book. Great question, by the way.But I remember my very first romance, Love Story by Erich Segal, which I won during a school contest. Before that I only read horror and detective books :)
I don't remember the first book I really read by myself but I do remember the first book I choose by myself (I was about 10 I think): "The Neverending Story" by Michael Ende. My mom wasn't as thrilled as I was. She's never been a big fantasy fan. But she bought it for me and I still have it.

You should write about it in the front cover so when you hand it down the person receiving it will know why it was special to you!
I don't really count picture books and kids stories, so the first real novel that I read on my own was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban when I was five, because my mom used to read them to me but I remember getting really anxious and just read it on my own.

huge book for an 8 year old to read! Read the first three Harry Potter books when I was 9.
The earliest memory of me actually reading about a book because I wanted to was a cam Jansen book. I don't remember which one but I just really enjoyed it
Hmm, it was probably a Disney book, since that is what my parents said I had them reread over and over for me, of course I was reading Shakespeare in elementary (my teacher had a set of comic books telling his stories which I absolutely loved)We also had many of the little Golden books and the set of Serendipity books (like Leo the Lop, and The Muffin Muncher)
the first book that had me hooked was born blue by Han Nolan. It was awesome!! It was about a girl who was put up for adoption and wanted to sing like etta james. It really still gets me to this day.
I don't remember the first book I read. If I were to guess I'd say it was probably The Monster at the End of this Book, my younger sister loved that book and my mom read it all the time.I do however, remember the first actual novel I read, The Indian in the Cupboard. I had a lot of trouble with reading as a child because I'm dyslexic and so reading a book with more then a few pages in it was a real landmark event.
Probably a Magic Key story in Primary School ahaha I can't remember! I've been reading as far back as I can remember.
The first book I've ever read (I think) was either a Clifford or Barney book :)The first YA Book that I ever read was City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
The first books that really got me into reading when I was younger were the Junie B. Jones, and the Tinkerbell books. :-) I just loved them so much. I feel really nostalgic when I think about those times when I was younger, reading those books. :-)

I actually can't remember. I've never really been reading a lot as a kid, because my parents never do. But there was a time when I started reading to impress a guy (oh no i was so stupid) and then I got really into it.. I read like tons of books and I can't remember any of them.. well except Eragon because it is huge. But the first book that got me into reading for real, like how I love reading now.. was Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. My friend forced me to start reading and I have to thank her for that :)
I have two books that I consider the first chapter books I ever read by myself:The first Harry Potter book was what I started reading first.
Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell was the first one I finished.
The first picture book I read by myself was a Winnie the Pooh story!
I don't remember the title, but I do remember liking to read biographies. So it was probably a biography of either Tom Edison or Young Ben Franklin.
I remember the first real chapter book I read was
in 3rd grade. I do remember my second grade teacher reading
to us.
I think one of the first books I ever read was,Berenstain Bears. I'm not sure which one though. My first chapter book was Amelia Bedelia.
Umm... The first book that I could get through and remember is probably The Hunger Games. I know, I know. What the heck!! Well to be honest I was the worst reader. Now, i can't even imagine life without reading! (Even though I'm only 13) The hunger games I think was one of the first books that really caught my eye and really inspired me to read more. Like I do now.
I guess the book that I remembered on my early years were Nancy Drew and Goosebumps. Your typical teenager. But the one I really considered my first read was Fablehaven, because it was the catalyst in making me the book addict I am now.
The first chapter/novel books I read (not including reads like Dr. Seuss and Roald Dahl) were Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and Harry Potter when I was 7 and 8.
The first book (novel) I read was Eragon when I woke up at 5am and didn't want to go back to sleep, I picked it up from my dad's bookshelf.
Hmmm...maybe my first book was A Tale of Peter Rabbit cause what I remember that I really love that book and I read it over and over again until that book was damaged.
My first book that I read and loved.. was Clifford the big red dog. There are countless books to that dog.
Catwitch by Una Woodruff. I still love this book today. It's so hard to find though, the last copy I found was beat up, and it was a library book, so I tried to be extra careful reading it.
I've been reading for as long as I can remember. My first specific memory was of The Baby-Sitter's Club in kindergarten. My first series love, lol!
The first novel I read when I was little was Peter Pan by J.M Barry
it was one of my favourites when I was like five or six.
I'm not entirely sure what's the first book I ever read, but I love Dr. Seuss books as a kid so it might be that.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears.I read it when I was in kindergarten, and I read it for so many times that the pages fell off…
