Starting this week with a few Ellora's Cave novellas. What's everyone else starting the week with?

message 2: by Theresa (new)

Theresa Romain | 420 comments I've been reading a few Superromances lately; right now, The First Move by Jennifer Lohmann. I think it was Janga who let us know Superromance was switching to a longer story in 2013? I like the way these longer books can dig deeply into character.

Phoenix77 | 346 comments I’m starting the week with a fantasy romance Fire of the Dragon by Lori Dillon. After that, I haven’t decided if I’m still in a fantasy/paranormal mood or if I should return to my tried and true historicals.

Versha I have started Gone with the Wind it was there in my to-read list from a long time.

Junek | 54 comments I have started in on After You'd Gone by Maggie O'Farrell, so far so good. I did enjoy another of her novels a fair while ago The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox.

I reread my favorite novella of all time today--Loretta Chase's "The Mad Earl's Bride," due to be released in digital format in June. It made me want to reread all of the connected books, not a bad idea since Chase announced that Vixen in Velvet, which was scheduled for August 27 release, has been delayed until 2014. I can only go so long without reading Chase.

Theresa, I thought The First Move was an extraordinary book. Joan Kilby's Maybe This Time is another HSR I highly recommend. And I loved Karina Bliss's May release A Prior Engagement. I always check out the new HSRs, and it's a rare month that I don't read some of them.

I was just planning to read The Mad Earl's Bride as well! So sad that there's such a long wait to read Vixen in Velvet...

I reread The Viscount Who Loved Me by JQ yesterday. I think I might start Beautiful Redemption next. It's the last one in the Beautiful Creatures series....I just kind of what to see how it ends even though I wasn't that impressed with the last book.

Janga, have you read any of Chase's early novels that she's recently re-released? I think there are 6, and I'm wondering which to read first.

Glad to know you enjoyed The First Move so much! I'll be sure to look for the Kilby and Bliss stories too. Thanks for the rec.

I just re-read The Viscount Who Love Me as well yesterday and I forgot how much I wanted to yank out his nostrils through his lungs. I know in the end he is great and there are reasons why he is like the way he is, but jeez he drove me crazy when he was talking about mistresses with his ex-mistress.

Theresa, I've read all of LC's books, and I bought new copies of the trads soon after they were available as ebooks. None of them is quite as good as LOS and Carsington Books 2,3, and 5, but all the promise is there--and the wit and the prose. Devil's Delilah is my favorite because I have a weakness for beta heroes and I love that the heroine's father is the Hyeresque Devil. Objectively, I think Knave's Wager is the best of the bunch, but I like both DD and Viscount Vagabond better.

Susan (susaninaz) | 1075 comments I discovered Valerie Bowman this past weekend. I've already hoovered Secrets of a Wedding Night and A Secret Proposal, now I'll start Secrets of a Runaway Bride.

Thanks, Janga! Eventually I'll get them all, but I'll start with DD. I do love a great beta hero.

I ended up reading The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice (A.N. Roquelaure)yesterday- Eeeek! Some parts were pretty cringe worthy but I've satisfied that part of me that insisted I read this book.

Irisheyes | 896 comments Halfway through Janice Kay Johnson's THE MAN BEHIND THE COP. Looks like I've found another author. I'm really liking this one. I'll have to give a couple of her other one's a try and see how it goes before I start glomming. I've got a huge backlist if that's the direction I want to go in, though!

Has anyone read Rush, book one in Maya Banks Breathless series?

message 18: by Elaine (new)

Elaine I'm half way through Mary Balogh's two novels in one "A Counterfeit Betrothal" & "The Notorious Rake".
I cried near the end of the first novel!
Always a good sign for me that it's a wonderful story.

I really like it, Elaine. While it's just novella length but the plot move smoothly.
