Kelly (kelly_l) | 21 comments I just finished reading Accidentally Demonic and just started an off genre book called The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

Demonic was kind of fun in a trashy kind of way. ::eyebrow waggle::

I figured this is what would happen to Bianca if she refused to become full vampire. I must admit what happened to Lucas surprised me, so I am quite anxious for the next one as I can't believe that she'd let them go through so much only to let things end this way for them.

Jenn (sportsgirlca) | 8 comments Cindy wrote: "ok i finished reading Hourglass (Evernight, #3) by Claudia Gray and i would like to talk to someone that has read it?"

As I was reading it I sort of figured at least the Bianca part b/c the of title to the 4th book. The other thing I was afraid might happen as the book went on but hoped I was wrong.

message 773: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelly_l) | 21 comments Yeah, wow, what fun Real Vampires Have Curves (Glory St. Clair, #1) by Gerry Bartlett was! I am a new Glory fan! I'm running out and buying the other 3 books immediately. That is all there is right? 4 total books right now? Glory is very Sookie-esque to me. I really enjoyed it.

I just started the next Anita Blake in my line-up, Bloody Bones (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #5) by Laurell K. Hamilton I always enjoy Anita and I'm glad to be reading her again.

Question...I want to start with a Kelley Armstrong book. I'm thinking to start with the Rachel Morgan series. I know she has a YA series out and some others...do you girls all recommend Rachel Morgan???

Diane ~Firefly~ Kelly wrote: "Question...I want to start with a Kelley Armstrong book. I'm thinking to start with the Rachel Morgan series. I know she has a YA series out and some others...do you girls all recommend Rachel Morgan???"

Kelly - Did you mean Kim Harrison (who writes about Rachel Morgan starting with Dead Witch Walking) or Kelley Armstrong, who has The Women of the Otherworld series and The Darkest Power YA series?

If you want something closer to Anita, I'd go with Kim Harrison which is the most UF of the group. I personally like The Women of the Otherworld series just a bit better (especially the books following Elena and Clay).

message 775: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelly_l) | 21 comments oh jeez...leave it to me to combine the two and make an uber author eh? I DID mean Kim Harrison but I was looking at the Otherworld books too. It sounds like I'll be reading both eh? Maybe I should get the first couple of books from both authors? And then get my facts right. :) Thanks Diane.

No biggie. I've mixed up authors before and will probably do it again. You will most likely enjoy both series as they are both great.

No, there are 5 of them. The 5th came out in February, I think. It's Real Vampires Hate Their Thighs (Glory St. Claire, #5) by Gerry Bartlett . The 6th one comes out in December. I've never read Kelley Armstrong and I don't care for Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan books, but I'm in the minority on that.

message 778: by Julia (new)

Julia | 119 comments Melodie,

You're not the only one who didn't care for Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan books...

I have read both of (all?) of Kelley Armstrong's series. I suggest you start with The Women of the Otherworld, Kelly. The first book is Bitten. Then when you read the YA series, you'll know where the kids make the mistakes...Bitten

message 779: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I just finished The Dead Girls' Dance (The Morganville Vampires, #2) by Rachel Caine which I enjoyed, and am now starting on Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4) by J.R. Ward .

message 780: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelly_l) | 21 comments Oh good Julia. I actually purchased Bitten today and I bought the first Rachel Morgan book too. I know I would have to read it eventually.

Back onto "Real Vampires" I also bought three more of them and ordered a 4th. So will have all 5 and will wait impatiently for the 6th. My husband is gonna flip when he sees my expenditures at the book store! hehehe

message 781: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I finished Lover Revealed and loved it!! I can't get enough of those Brothers!

I also finished The Accidental Demon Slayer (Demon Slayer, Book 1) by Angie Fox . It was ok. Nothing too exceptional. It had some funny dialog between characters and it had some annoying characters. I will probably read the next book in the series to see if it gets better. I'm now reading Key to Conflict (Gillian Key, ParaDoc, #1) by Talia Gryphon

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Waiting for the latest Sookie Stackhouse book to come out. While waiting, I read the first 3 books in the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants series. (I'm waiting for the final book, #4, in that series to arrive from Paperbackswap.) Started reading a few short stories from The Magic Shop, edited by Denise Little.

message 784: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I Finished A Hoboken Hipster in Sherwood Forest by Marianne Mancusi a cute, charming time travel story. Very chick-lit-ish. I'm now reading Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep

message 785: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished listening to Once Dead, Twice Shy and really enjoyed it. I was so happy that the once dead part of the title didn't mean teenager vampire. Kim Harrison created an unusual situation for Madison Avery. The universe was filled with angel like beings and rippers. The philosophy of the rippers was new to me and not illogical. I'm waiting for the audio download on book two.

I continue to read Proven Guilty and just started Enchanted Glass.

Julia | 119 comments Day before yesterday I finished Unleashed by John Levitt #3 in his urban fantasy series that starts with Dog Days.

Then I read the delightful Me and Orson Welles a coming of age novel that takes place in NYC in 1937 when Orson Welles is mounting his production of "Julius Caesar."

Last night I finished The Entertainer and The Dybbuk, a well- worth reading Holocaust supernatural revenge novel, which I think isn't so appropriate for most younger middle schoolers, but HS and adult audiences might like a lot. I did.

Now I'm reading Ghosts of War, a memoir about a young man serving in Iraq. Unleashed (Dog Days, #3) by John Levitt Me and Orson Welles by Robert Kaplow The Entertainer and the Dybbuk by Sid Fleischman Ghosts of War The True Story of a 19-Year-Old GI by Ryan Smithson
