"It's not?" Hayden asked softly. "Wouldn't someone notice us hiding? How close are we?"

"It wouldn't be too hard. Just take a room no one is using," Beven explained, from experience. "We are in Colorado, probley miles from any town. The school likes to keep a low profile," she said sadly

Hayden nodded slowly. "That's a long way to walk with me sick and you injured," she pointed out.

Beven nodded. "That's why we are staying here for a bit longer," she said, just hoping that the rain would give them enough time to just recover a bit.

"How much longer is a bit?" Hayden asked curiously, closing her eyes and hoping that it would be a while.

Beven looked outside, it was just downpouring. The sound normally would have been welcoming to a normal person, but it was terrifying to her. "A day about," she guessed.

"A day?" Hayden asked softly "You think I'll be better by then?"

Beven sighed. "Honestly, I don't think either of us will be fully better. But we should be well enough to move," she said softly

Hayden bit her lip. "Well enough to move," she agreed softly. "My head still hurts, Bev."

Beven bit her lip. "Just lay low, relax," she said softly, knowing you couldn't do much more. It's not like they had much space to move around or could go anywhere. The erasers couldn't pick up a scent on them if they tried, the rain washed that way

"Right," Hayden said softly, curling up in Beven's lap. "I don't feel good at all."

Beven shook her head. "No it doesnt. But it means other people dont control when you die," she said slowly, knowing that she couldnt say Hayden would live forever. Everyone died, you couldnt get around that.

Hayden giggled. "I'm immortal!" She said giddily.

Beven frowned slightly. Was that a good thing that Hayden was saying that? Did it give her confidence, or was something going to her head?

Hayden giggled, stretching out on her back. "What are these?" She wiggled her fingers. "What are they?"

Beven frowned and raised her eyebrows. "Fingers," she answered slowly. Something was defiantly up.

Hayden frowned. "No they're not." She said. "These are sausages," she said decidedly.

Beven raised an eyebrow and cocked her head to the side slightly. "They arent sausages. You can eat sausages, but not your fingers. Which is what they are."

Beven's eyes went wide. "No!" she said strongly before grabbing both Hayden's hands and lowering them from her mouth and to her lap.

Hayden frowned. "But they're sausages," she pointed out. "I can eat them."
"It's not hard to sneak into a hotel," Beven mused. "Anywhere will be better. We are too close for the school for comfort."
