Why does everyone hate Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace?

Absolutely LOVE Jamie Campbell Bower. Love Jace. Dont love them as one person. I guess I pictured someone taller, more built. English boys dont really work out like American guys. But I adore the kid, so I hope he proves me wrong :)

For real :O I thougt I hated him as Jace but when I saw the trailer I got to say he sold the role...and the accent doesn't hurt ;) I love him, and I'm excited to the point of tears for August :D

Hehe... I'm a sucker for British accents.
now that its brought up, can someone clarify it for me. I read the first three and dont recall jace,isabelle or alec being British, only maybe that they had british ancestry(obviously from how the infernal devices shape it). Were they brits just living in New York? Because I cant for the life of me remember, and dont remember catching that detail.

They grew up in New York, and shouldn't have British accents.
Although, I do remember an interesting comment from someone (I don't remember who, sorry!) who said something about Jace and an accent from when he grew up in Idris. Maybe if you grow up in Idris you develop a British accent? I don't think that happened in the books, but its an interesting idea.
In the end, I think it's just because Jamie Campbell Bower naturally has an accent.

i just watched the 2nd trailer and..oh my god i cant wait to watch the movie!!!!!aaahhhhhh!!! so good!!and i think Jamie is not that bad plus he acts well...of course he is absolutely not as i imagined Jace to look like but....its all good.
I think Jamie will be great as Jace!! It could've been worse they could've chosen Robert Pattinson to portray Jace!
well that's true, but Jamie is like a skinny little kid with long hair and frankly if he dyed is hair black he make a great Alec. All im saying is Jamie better have some pretty spectacular acting, maybe he can act like he's got muscle.
Because he's old? I've seen the trailer and I'm not impressed. It's like another Twilight shizz. No offense to the Twilight fans. I'm just sick and tired of Hollywood adapting good books into blockbuster movies but somehow making them look like crap.
And the actors. Jeez! They always seem to pick the WRONG people. Or the actors just really cannot act.

Someone called him UGLY, I don't think that's exactly fair. I disagree. Yeah, he's got big roundish eyes and a feminine face but no way he's UGLY. It's not like he looks like something that got squeezed from someones ass.He'll make a convincing Jace. Most people want the lead guys to be other-wordly attractive. In reality, there NOTHING wrong with an average looking guy.He can still deliver!Secondly though, why is his accent so strong. Some of the lines he delivers come off as really weird. I think they should have made him drop it.
He's not as attractive as Alex Pettyfer. But screw that, he acts much better than Alex. I love Jamie!

I don't hate him but I just didn't imagine him as Jace. I personally desired Alex Pettyfer but I think Jamie could fit alright. I just wish he was more appealing but that's just my opinion.
To tell you the truth i think his kinda Ugly, the book decribes Jace has this magnifisent guy so handsome.. then you see the tralier, and your like Oh this is totally not what i was expecting and you dont feel to intrested in the chracter as much.But im still going to watch it anyways!

Jace is meant to the arrogant, and with his looks...He gets away with it. The guy they picked is not hot at all, no one will put up with that ugly face in the trailer. I know Jace is suppose to be epic, vampire flying bike epic. I think the Jace in the trailer has the epicness of.....I don't even know anything that is low enough in cool to compare him too.But the casting for Valentine...Is perfect.
I love him! I think hes perfect!!! There is always hate because they cant get everyone's vision of him.

Trailer is for marketing purpose, and some details might change. I also hope they follow the detailed info about certain characters in the book or we will have a totally different City of Bones....

I don't know. Jamie was great as Caius Volturi (Twilight Saga), but I just don't see him as Jace. (And I didn't imagine Jace having a British accent.)Ughh, Lily Collins doesn't even RESEMBLE Clary!!!

I don't know, I think he fits Jace well, and that's just his appearance, I think people should stop arguing and judge him on his acting, where argument actually counts.
I think he is perfect for the role of Jace. If you have seen any of his interviews or even just the trailer, you can see that he's Jace to a T personality and acting wise. As for his looks, I personally think he's beautiful (can I say this about a guy?) in an different way so people should stop judging on that. People all said Alex Pettyfer as Jace but let's face it, he can't act! It wouldn't do Jace' s character any justice.I don't know, maybe I'm partial to him because the trailer actually led me to read the books...I don't know...I just personally love Jamie as Jace.

I hated jamie when i knew he was casted and i was never ready but then the trailer came out.... so ultimately it's his acting that counts in the end

If you've seen one of his interviews he's got basically the same personality as Jace and physically, he IS fit.....I love him as Jace and he definitely has the acting skills for it. Don't judge before you've seen the movie.

The only thing that bothers me is that he doesn't look at all like Jace. Jace is supposed to be slim but muscular, with golden eyes. This guy is so thin and he has blue eyes. But I guess that if he got the part, he must be really good at being Jace. And if they keep Jace's sarcasm in the movie, and not just his bad temper, I think that Jamie can be a pretty good Jace. I am really excited about this movie, and I am 90% sure it won't disappoint me!
