Why does everyone hate Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace?

I LOVE HIM!!!!! I've never not loved him Lol, I think he's perfect for the role

I think he'll make a great Jace I don't know why everyone's hating him so much because to be honest I think he's gonna make a better Jace than Alex Pettyfer would .have because Pettyfers acting is kind of...wooden.
I don't hate him. I think he's PERFECT! His acting is very fitting! I actually like him over Alex Pettyfer (the majority votes) because Alex's acting is poor and awkward IMO.
He's no what imagined when I was reading. But i'm sure he'll be a great Jace.
I just dont think that he is hot like I imagined Jace to be. Jace is cocky and arrogant and he gets away with it because he is "stunningly attractive" as he calls himself. And Jamie Campbell Bower is not hot.
He was obviously picked for his acting skills... but I have a hard time seeing him as Jace. I'm sure he'll be wonderful and all and I'm trying to keep an open mind, I really am. I have nothing against him. It's just that when I look at him, I don't think Jace. Anyway, I'm sure I'll come around to him. What matters is if he can get Jace's mannerisms across, not if he looks like him! I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE MOVIE COMES OUT! 8D
I don't hate him but I don't LOVE him either. I prefer Alex pettyfer because he's muscular and attractive and who a lot of readers visualized for Jace's part. He seems a good actor and all but I am having a hard time getting to know him as jace. I also wished he at least tried to do an American accent. I'm not really sure bout him but lets see after the movie.
People are saying that Jamie is better because he can act but I havent seen him in any movies but twilight where he has like 5 lines per movie! Alex Pettyfer is hot and I have seen him act. He can pull off the cocky, arrogant, hot Jace. Jamie might be able to except he lacks the hot aspect. And, Alex was given the role first! He was given the role first because they thought he would be best for the role of Jace so everyone who says Jamie would be a better Jace are obviously being contradictory to what the movie casters thought. They saw the auditions. We did not. And neither actor has played a character like Jace. Correction *There is no character like Jace* So only the movie will tell us if Jamie is a good Jace but I stand by my opinion and those of the movies casters that Alex Pettyfer would have been my priority Jace
Jamie is a good actor, but I don't find him exceptional looking. Jace is written to be very attractive. The kind of guy that girls would stop and gawk at or could be described as beautiful. Jamie doesn't fall into that category for me. I am hoping he can pull it off because I really love this series and want to love the movie to. We'll have to see how he plays it.

Alex Pettyfer is much closer to what I imagined of Jace when I was reading the series.
I love it. At first I was iffy, but now I'm in love with the whole cast
Personally, I love him as Jace! My friend though.. gaw every time I see her she complains to me about how he is too skinny, or his cheek bones are too defined, or how his hair is ugly. I don't know why people hate on him, but I think it's because they haven't seen his acting or his actual role as Jace.
Because some people don't realize that there's more to Jace than being really really ridiculously good looking? I don't know, I've always known Jamie would be perfect. I hate to call everyone who doubts him shallow, but that's how it seems considering it's based solely on his appearance. I think it's more than they have a hard time morphing how they saw Jace in their head to how Jamie looks. It wasn't hard for me, but I guess everyone's different.I do wish people's opinions didn't wind up hurting Jamie's feelings, though. He sees the negativity and it kind of breaks my heart. He worked his ass off for this role and I think he deserves a lot more respect than some people give him.
I didn't know people were hated jamie as jace! : Olily collins wasn't what I expected clary to be, and neither did I expect jamie as jace. however, I think it's nice that lily and jamie can channel their characters into themselves, as I saw in the trailer. also, yeah, from the trailer it seemed like they worked hard for their roles and worked hard to become their characters. I think that is worth something, do you agree?
I don't dislike him, the jace I pictured is completely different, but if he does jace justice in the film then I don't care :)
Well, Lily Collins is really just, gorgeous. I mean seriously, she's so pretty. Her hair is kinda fake red, but she looks like Clary I think.But Jamie Campbell Bower is...I don't know...Thought he would be more angelic looking. He's more angles. But I don't really hate him..it's just his HAIR. I seriously hate the HAIR. Me and my friend is calling it 'The Hair'. lol
Jamie doesn't seem masculine enough to portray the right attitude of Jace. And defiantly not dreamy enough... Hope I'm wrong tho...
I didn't like Jamie at first, but he has grown on to me. Alex Pettyfer just seems to old, and if I am correct, he TURNED DOWN THE ROLE of Jace because he wanted 'more serious roles', whatever that means. What's funny is that I didn't think Jamie was Jace at first, and it took me awhile for it to settle, but my little sister who is in the middle of the book took one look at him and went, "Oh my gosh! That is exactly how I pictured him!" so that proves that we all have our ideals. But as for Jamie, I've heard terrific things from the cast and Cassandra Clare about him. Apparently they were getting really frustrated trying to find Jace, and when Jamie walked in, even before he started the audition they were like 'This is Jace.' Cassandra Clare started crying he was so perfect! So if he is good enough for Cassandra Clare, he is good enough for me. Also, he does his own stunts!!! Like in the trailer where he flips onto the table and kills a vampire, there were no wires there!! Isn't that so cool?!?!?!?!?!?!
I have a curiouse awnser to you :) Now I don't hate him :D he really can be jace and the secound trailer is the proof :)before i wanted Jace to be roled by Alex Pettifer BUT HE TURNED OUT THE ROLE and i was a bit sad for that, but fine is his life and he do whatever he wants (he will be my jace from books). And first time i saw jaime i was Hum..... he looks like a girl -.- (and was older than alex, and also didn't seem as jace before), but THEN pass this all weeks i finaly see him as Jace :) he prove that he can really play Jace very well ^^ I'm exaited (sorry if i mispelled) to see the movie :)

I really wasn't happy at first but I have sorta come around on the idea of him being Jace. He is good-looking, tall, charismatic, sarcastic and a good actor. What more could we ask for?;)
Well at first I wasn't thrilled about who was playing the leading characters Jamie Campbell Bower & Lily Collins). When I think of Jace's character weirdly think of Alex Pettyfer or Austin Butler( mostly Austin or that is who I see on Lost Souls cover anyway)- but after seeing the Trailer he rocks at being Jace.

I personally don't think he's very attractive. I thought of Jace as this extremely attractive, witty, guy and I just don't think Jamie will be as good for the role as other people might have been. He doesn't seem to carry himself in the way I see for Jace, I don't hate him I just don't think he's right for the role.
After seeing the trailer, I thought Jamie is perfect for the role. I've seen him in some other movies and I think his acting is very good compared to Alex P. who (in my opinion) hasn't proven his acting prowess that well yet. Jamie's going to pull it off, people! "Have a little faith." :p

I actually found out that he was cast before I started reading, but I don't have a problem with him at all. The trailers proved it, he can be Jace. Guess we'll have to find out more in the movie :)

Personally I think that Jamie Campbell Bower is an excellent choice, and I'm very glad Alex Pettifyer turned down the role. So far, the main complaint seems to be that JCB doesn't have the right looks. Isn't it more important that he gets the character right?

To be honest i couldnt imagine any actor as Jace because he seems to perfect for someone to play him however I really like Jamie playing him. I think he fits the description as close as it comes and he will do him justice :)

He isn't particularly the Jace I imagined, but I don't think he'll be a bad Jace. I sort of imagined someone like Matt from the Vampire Diaries. But I'm still going to watch this movie. :)
who cares.... the producers and directors and Cassandra chose HIM.. there is a reason for that... who cares for the hotness we want a good movie and you will see he will pull it off... I reallt think TMI is more than looks and romance...

I think he is AMAZING for this role! And when he was saying that all the negative stuff that was being said about him was hurtful, it made me sad. I think even if you don't think he is a good choice, you should actually see him playing Jace instead of saying he is a "bad Jace"!!! I think he will be great, especially from what I've seen in the trailer!!!

I totally agree with his acting talent being the most important thing. But, I think, (at least for me anyway) that people are so focused on his looks because of the way Jace is described in the books. Something the books really emphasize are Jace's looks. It's all a part of his cocky, "I know I'm hot." attitude. It's part of who Jace is. I'm not trying to rag on Jamie Campbell Bower or anything, but I think maybe that's why some people are having the reactions that they're having. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Its just cause everyone imagined Alex Pettyfur and wanted a HOOOOOT guy. I have nothing against Jamie. He has a sexy accent, he's actually not that bad looking and yeah he's not as muscular as I imagined Jace but hey, its a book. This is reality. We're not gonna find a guy who looks EXACTLY like Jace and Jamie is actually pretty close.
I am not so much as disappointed as him but the fact of the matter is I noticed some things that are not in the book at all. Like when is says that Clary is the key to their survival? I am sorry but what does that mean??

Sure Clary plays an essential part in the battle against Valentine (haven't read past the 3rd book so far, so I can't say anything about the other installments), but I never saw her as the key to anything. Her abilities just made everything easier...

This fact might be bitter for you, but Alex was offered the role, and should he have said Yes, there would never be Jamie as Jace. Alex said No, Jamie got the role. Alex was the first option, while Jamie is the next one.

As sour as it is, they chose Alex first, the movie peeps and Cassie. You should have read Cassie's comment when Alex won Jace polling on Facebook in 2010. And since Jace is hot, it is absurd not to count the hotness of who plays Jace in the movie.
If you read the story, you will see that when Clary desribes Jace, it is mostly about his look.
Jamie is Jace now, and we wish the best for Jamie and the movie, but 'demeaning' Alex will give nothing good to Jamie. It only gives away the fact that Jamie was not the first option to play Jace.
Personaly my heart warmed to jamie i dont know why but i just see him as jace,Ok he might not be that hot or sexy but he just......suits the role of jace(for me that is):)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
I personally prefer Jamie to Alex. Jamie's acting skills are great whereas, Alex's acting skills are very basic. Yes, Alex may be who you pictured Jace looking like, but what's the point if he can't actually get what's Jace is trying to say to the audience. Jamie is the better choice, he may not be insanely attractive but whatever. He's Jace.
i agreee jaime is great i think people will change there mind if the ysee him as caius in twilight movies
In the beginning I didn't like that they casted him.. But now I think he's perf
I don't mind him being the actor. I'm more afraid of producers changing too much everything.
i just dont picture jamie as jace... here are a couple of reasons why...1. Jace is not British... and shouldn't have a British accent!
2. he is not how I pictured Jace in my mind when i was reading the book... i know cassie clare Likes him as jace... im just saying...
