Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Hello Mauvelous Members,

I hope everyone is having a good week. Since we are such a quiet group, the mods would like me to add to our spreadsheet, the last time you guys posted, or I talked to you at some point. I know with everything that goes on in life, some of us don't have the time to be so active on the thread, so for anyone who is not here often can take the time to check in like every two weeks, with just a Hi, or etc. So far, I think the mods are using the increase in book reads every week to see we are all active members. But I think a lot of teams have had inactive members, so they want to make sure that we are all present and active.

I hope it won't be too much of a problem.

Also on the update, drop by https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

if you have an challenge idea to use in August since the Mods are taking a break.

We are probably going to be repeating 7% Solution, I know some of you guys didn't get a chance to participate much in it, but any books not used in previous categories and read from June 1st can still count, so drop by https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Barbara ★ We can all do the puzzles. If you check the spreadsheet, there are multiple names for each puzzle. If I recall, there's something when you redeem cupcakes that you can only use the member who posted for that puzzle (not sure of the specifics).

I would think, that if you've finished a puzzle that someone else already submitted, submit yours as well. It certainly can't hurt anything and it could benefit us in the long run.

message 309: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ puzzle 63 is up another spot the differences.

message 310: by Barbara ★ (last edited Jun 19, 2013 03:33PM) (new)

Barbara ★ I will do puzzle 61.
ETA: posted

message 311: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments I think jingles has done 61....?

message 312: by jingles (new)

jingles Yes I did do puzzle # 61. However I didn't realize the benefit of multiple members doing/submitting the same puzzle.

Thanks for pointing that out Barbara.

Do you think it would be ok for me to work backwards and submit the puzzles I've not done yet? I'll make sure to keep up with the newer ones too.

FYI- I am posting from mobile so if it seems weird that's why.

I went back and did that last week but only the puzzles that require you to email the answer. The others only count once.

message 320: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments Puzzles 69 and 70 in the bag. Since I'm not reading much (or I should say reading LONG books), I might as well some puzzles.

message 321: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments Hey everyone!!!

We are still going strong --- we are only 12 books away from 1st place :-D We actually slipped to 5th (only by 2 books) --- I am partly responsible since I've been reading some long books, but we should be able to count them double using the bouncing cupcakes !!!

Great job everyone!!

message 322: by jingles (last edited Jun 24, 2013 06:53AM) (new)

jingles Jolene, maybe I'm confused, but when I looked at the spreadsheet, we fell behind Electric Lime by 13 books. The totals I saw (with the book points advantage) were Electric Lime - 362, Mauvelous - 349. Wild Blue Yonder is in the lead with 374 (w/book point advantage), which puts us behind the lead by 25. I'm looking at the most recent update done yesterday (06/23/13). Is there something I'm not seeing?

In any case, I think we are all doing great!

message 323: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments Ooops --- you're right jingles --- I shouldn't look at things late at night. I was looking at electric lime instead of us (the font is easier to see)

:-D

CountessPaige de Quantity | 150 comments Announcement

A decision has been made regarding the use of juvenile/children's/middle grade books for Round II. We have decided that we will accept all non-picture books equal to and greater than 160 pages. Little children's books are still not acceptable (for example: Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss , Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. , and Richard Scarry's Best Rainy Day Book Ever by Richard Scarry ).

As you are reading your book, think about the following: does it seem like there are 250 words per page? How many pages have you read in 15 minutes - is it more than normal? When you tag your book look at the other editions - does that version's page numbers look similar to the others. If you have a question, ask in the Page Numbers, Just About Page Numbers... and we will help you out.

For all electronic books (ebook/Kindle/audio) that do not have an equivalent print copy on goodreads, they will still be verified for a word count. In situations where electronic books vary by 100 pages to print editions, those will also be verified.

The Moderators and Countess Paige will still be conducting random spot checks. We reserve the right of veto power over some books, specifically ‘gift books’, ‘novelty books’, or ‘coffee table books’.

Thank you for your time and understanding!

Barbara ★ I've been working on Puzzle #73 and it's a hard one. Here's the link
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

It's a word jumble and it's all things reading and tower teams reading challenge related. If there is a CAPITAL letter, that means there is 2 or more words to the clue.

I've figured out all of them except for
13) ipgoSrtuesr =
15) rnskiehpyl =
20) alsecbmr =
27) unctosse =
32) uydadeanStpu =

Please PM me if you figure any of these out so we can submit for team credit.

message 341: by jingles (new)

jingles I read a couple of smaller books last week in hopes of helping to regain some ground in the challenge, but my strategy did not work.

:(

message 342: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments We are still holding at 5th a very respectable 5th place. If you read the fine print, there is a person that was not logging there books for a long period of time which is why we all of sudden dropped one place. The mods are reviewing this situation and will be making a rule about this for the future :-D.

I also finished up my longer books and will try to read a few quickies this week :-D

YAY JoLene!! I saw that you finished all the big books when I was doing the Sunday updates...Congrats!

message 344: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments Well -- I didn't finish The Passage -- but I think I might shelve that one.

I'll finish another audio one today :-D

message 345: by jingles (new)

jingles I did see that issue. It looks to me like we are one behind Radical Red but that may be pending the outcome.

Never the less, my intention was to help us gain some ground. Maybe in the long run it will. Maybe it won't. I'm good either way.

Good job on the big ones JoLene.

message 346: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments I think we can get some extra chunksters points, so that will help --- I think that Barabar has also read some long ones :-)

jingles JoLene wrote: "I think we can get some extra chunksters points, so that will help --- I think that Barabar has also read some long ones :-)"

Great! I also have 7 or 8 that are 500 pages or more. We should be well set for that, I think.

message 348: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ JoLene wrote: "I think we can get some extra chunksters points, so that will help --- I think that Barabar has also read some long ones :-)"

I've read 3 over 1000 pages since 3-25 (don't remember when this challenge started.)

message 349: by jingles (new)

jingles I think it was April 12, Barbara, but I could be wrong.

message 350: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ cool then all 3 would count if needed. I have another biggie (1016 pages) scheduled for July.
