I finished
on the train. It was the pick for the FOrever Young Adult bookclub. I was reading on the Kindle and was surprised when the book was done at the 75% mark. I'm not sure if this is a mental thing, but I really felt like the story was unfinished as well.I just started the audio of Pride and Prejudice --- doing a re-read as part of my own challenge of reading at least 6 Austen-ish books, wither the books themselves, or re-tellings, or continuations.
Trip is good --- we just arrived at our last stop which is Copenhagen. Weather is much warmer than Stockholm!!!! Turns out that they just put wifi into the hotel so I can still check email and stuff......I actually need to get myself organized on the SRC Spring challenge (I think a couple of you also participate in that one)
The RaT starts on Wednesday. I want to choose my books and be ready to read. Have we come to a decision on the theme?
I participate in the SRC but I'm not doing so well this season...only 315 points so far. I read books to complete other challenges first and if they fit for SRC that's great but SRC tends to suffer.
It looks like young adult would work so let's go with that since I know everyone wants to plan. This is only my 2nd SRC, but I haven't even posted any points yet. I was working on it and I just realized to get max points, I was thinking about it wrong. I was trying to do the 30 and 25 pt tasks fist, but since they require 2 books, I should actually do the 20 and 15 pt task first. I am mainly reading what I want this time and then filling in.
What's SRC? I shouldn't even ask because then I will be interested in joining another new challenge and I already have so many things to juggle. Don't tell me....no WAIT PLEASE TELL ME!!! lolSo now I am off to find a book for YA and our color hopefully in the next three days. I can get it done.
SRC is Seasonal Reading Challenge. It's a three month challenge, the current one is for Spring and will finish at the end of May.I have read quite a few YA books and they are tagged on my shelf, if you want to look.
Young Adult it is then. JoLene, I will probably be checking out your shelves as well. I don't think I have anything YA on mine.I think I'm going to starte the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn, using the first bookcover of that series to fit the "mauve" requirement.
3 DAYS AND 6 HOURS TO THE READ-A-THON START!!!!
Are you ready??? I know I am excited :o)
Any question I let it pass unanswered? I was away for a week, a lot to catch up!
For team captains
Only 3 more days to submit your team's mini-challenge ideas.

Hi,First of all, I will be shelving my books on my "tower-team-mauvelous" shelf :-)
I wonder if this book counts as mauve?
And does it count as Young Adult? (I'm new to this genre). How about
?

Hi Thilde,
Thanks for letting me know. I can answer about Julia Quinn right off, It will not count toward Young Adult.
Hina wrote: Hi Thilde,Thanks for letting me know. I can answer about Julia Quinn right off, It will not count toward Young Adult.
Hi Hina.
Thanks. Too bad though. I'll have to think of something else.
Lisa Kay wrote: "Thilde, I would say that in in the mauve range.
"Thanks, Lisa Kay.
I hoped you would say that. :-)

Barbara ★ wrote: "Going by LK's response in post 125, I'd say that both of those could be considered mauve."Yup.
I didn't get any definitive feedback on the mini-challenge so I decided to submit the following.Take a vacation: Using books that you have read in the last year, using the book links option, create a vacation with one of the following options:
A. Visit at least 4 continents
B. Visit 5 countries
C. Visit 6 states in the US.
JoLene wrote: "I will post later today or tomorrow. I just got back from Europe about an hour ago."Welcome back!!

YAY!! Just wanted to be sure. Now I have to pick one of them!!
I am going to go with Dangerous by Amanda Quick. - the kindle edition looks slightly different, more bluish than what I posted which is a paperback, would that make a difference?

Nope.
Nope.

Awesome!! I was beginning to really want to read this book.
Hello folks, I'm wondering if we weren't too aggressive on our goals. We have a lot of pages. We will get extra points for each person who completes their individual goal and also their team goals. We have until May 8 to adjust!
Here is what was submitted..
Team Mauvelous reporting for Readathon :-D
Hina - 5000 pages
Barbara - 4000 pages
Evil Twin One (Ange) - 2000 pages
Carrie - 1500 pages
Jingles - 1000 pages
JoLene -1000 pages
Valerie - 1000 pages
Thilde - 600 pages
-----------------------
Team Goal: 16100 pages
JoLene, Yeah from some of the other team's posted goals, we are definitely on the high end, but the numbers were something every one should have been comfortable to reach. Barring any problems due to life, work etc, I think we should be okay, if not we have time to adjust. Thanks for submitting!
Okay, so now we have a mini theme within the read-a-thon. Guess I missed that.I'm sorry, but this is starting to become a little overwhelming.
First - there is the team challenge, which is the primary focus.
Second - there is the read-athon, which seems to be very important, as it can give us an edge, should we place,
Third - a mini challenge within the read-a-thon, in which we are to post books for a certain guideline.
I am starting to get really uncomfortable with all this, and I'm not even sure what I'm doing.
For example, am I suppose to read as many Young Adult books and books with Mauve colored covers as I possible can between May 1st and May 12th? Or am I considered done with that part after reading one book for each? Are there extra points involved by reading a second Young Adult book for example? Or do I just read whatever I want to, after I've covered the color and genre requirements?
Please can someone help? And maybe give a little assurance, that I've not signed up for the wrong thing?
I have absolutely no problem fulfilling the 1000 page requirement during May 1 to May 12. It's everything else I'm worried about. And just to explain how I have it planned out - I have one color cover book and one Young Adult book lined up for the read-a-thon. I have a third book lined up that does not fit either of these categories to round out my page total.
Please excuse me, I'm just getting a little nervous.
:)
Jingles, between May 1st and May 12th, you only need 1 young adult book and 1 Mauve colored cover. I have got to get something done at work and I will answer more fully to the rest, don't worry it seems more overwhelming that it is. Otherwise, you can keep reading things you had planned. It could even be books below 160 pages. The books under the page limit can't be counted for the main challenge but it is allowed for the read-a-thon and to achieve your 1000 page requirement. The ones over 160 you shelf as usual, just don't shelf the under 160 there.
jingles, joining the R-a-T is NOT mandatory. Sonia is reconsidering removing the extra five points for
all
member participation, even though it is only five out of over a hundred and something points possible. (Sorry, can't remember the exact number off hand.)
Gotcha. I think I'm okay then, as I already have those two books on my TBR and ready to go. That was my main concern.
JoLene, I'm on target for my 1000 pages, as the mauve cover and young adult book I have picked both total 735 pages. With just one more book of roughly 300 pages, I will easily make that mark, and it can be any book from my May TBR.I should be good to go.
I also only have one mauve and one YA book on deck. As Hina mentioned, that is all you need. RE: the mini challenge, each team was supposed to submit one, but the idea was that they were book related, but not necessarily involved reading extra books. I know that I'm participating in a couple other challenges so my reading list is set for May. I would expect that the mods will post a mini-challenge, but as a fun activity --- hopefully not for points.
The Readathon is really met for fun --- not another pressure. Participation is NOT mandatory and they did remove the points for everyone in the group participating.
Hey folks, i need to get starting page counts. Can you let me know if you are planning to add any books read today by posting something here so I know to adjust it :-DMucho thanks!! (I'm in the CA time zone --- but since I just got back from Europe, my time is off --- got up at 4 am today so I don't think I will be up late tonight :-D)

That's exactly what my concern was as well.
JoLene,I'm going to finish reading a book tonight but I"m going to go and mark it complete right now so you can get your numbers.
ETA: all done. my numbers are complete for April.
JoLene, I have two books in currently reading, I have finished one and finishing the other right now. Give me an hour so and I will mark them both read.
I'm 69% done my book, lol here's hoping when I'm done reading and reviewing I can hold back from picking up a new book.

So are we just supposed to post our daily page count here in this thread? Or does our bookshelf count them for us? I understand the challenge, but not sure how we are keeping track of everything.
Oh, and one more thing...what if I have a YA book that also would qualify as mauve? Can I knock out both mini challenges with one book, or do I need to read two?
Hina jumped the gun a bit --- I will let you know how to report by the end of the night.@Hina --- can you delete you post in the other thread, please until the instructions come out and remove the link in the above thread. Thanks!
@Valerie, no, the young adult and mauve cover have to be 2 separate books.

I've read Through the Grinder, which was ok; A Wallflower Christmas, which I really enjoyed; A Little Bit Wild, which again was just okay. Actually this one really frustrated me at times. The last one - Scandal in Spring, was good. It was my least favorite of the Wallflower series though. I'm up to 11 books for this round.
What is everyone else reading?
JoLene, how is you wonderful vacation?
