Continuing on with the TTRC...
For those of you who want to finish what you started, we are leaving the Tower Team Reading Challenges threads, the "sister group," and Team Home Page Challenges open.
Some of you want to finish your Team Mini Challenges for November; some want to see what they can do towards reaching 1,350 (with or without BAPs); others want to go until the end of the year; and die-hards want to go until April, 2014!
Whatever you decide, as an individual Team or Team Member basis, is completely up to you. Even if you are the only Team Member interested in continuing, we're sure the other Teams will interact with you.
We, the Mods and Captain Paige, will do an informal update once a month.
Whatever you decided, remember to have fun! There will be much less pressure, definitely.
As far as Round III, we do NOT know when it will start, but it will NOT be in January. For the next Team Challenge, the other Mods want to do some type of board game that will last anywhere from one to several months.

I would really like to, at least until the next team challenge starts.
So, I will join you.

cool...I am just curious to see how long it will take to get to my own goal and our team goal. Plus with nothing else to worry about challenge wise...its easy enough to tag the books I am going to read.

This round I had a lot of frustration going on because I just really didn't understand all the BAP's, cupcakes, etc. I was reading like crazy, trying to get our numbers up, and it seemed no matter how much I read, or pushed myself to read, we just kept falling further and further behind. Thus my frustration.
I think continuing will help me prepare for Round III.

This round I had a lot of frustration ..."
True there was a lot of things I didn't understand...but I look at it this way...don't get anxious and worry about getting numbers up...because there is always going to be someone who has read more did more BAP's...all you could do is that you did the best you could and enjoyed reading the books you did. LOL...so I hope you don't get frustrated in the next round, but you were probably one of the people who read most books that counted as cut throat.

@Hina - you are absolutely right. My focus on the numbers totally messed me up. Instead I should have just been happy with doing the best I could and let it go at that. A very good lesson learned for next round.
All in all, I had a lot of fun doing it. Our mods are so totally awesome, with all the things they came up with. It sure was interesting, trying to keep up with them and wondering what they would come up with next.
I am totally looking forward to Round III. I know it will be some time before it starts, but in the mean time, I will keep "practicing", and you know what they say - "practice makes perfect". Lol.

Carrie, I had the same problem with this too, in Round I. The only way I knew I could keep track of it in Round II and not miss anything, was to create a spreadsheet specifically for the Tower Team Challenge. Each time I finished a book, I would add it to the spreadsheet, and then always check my spreadsheet total with my Tower Team shelf total. If my numbers were off, I would go back and check to see what book I'd missed tagging to the Tower Team shelf.
Honestly, that's the only way I was able to accurately track it in Round II.
I have a lot of other challenges going to, so I have just one excel document, with a different tab for each challenge I'm doing. It was easy to just add another. Lol.

Mine was to tag the book on the challenge as soon as I could...whether I finished the book or not. I tried the excel file just to see what and how much I am reading in a month and what books I want to read in the following month...but I tend to fall behind and I hate catching up with the excel file...so there is a lot of unfinished lists left.

lol...the only one i can remember now is when I tagged a book that didn't meet the page requirement...but then again...I usually put my books on my google calendar so I can put in the right start and end date in GR and which books I have read if I don't get a chance to come on GR, which so rarely happens...since I stop by for a little bit every day...:)

it was a mystery that we fell so far behind but I think it was partly because we were mostly reading shorter books --- before the BAP started, we were ahead of the curve, but then when teams started earning extra BAPs, we weren't getting many extra points.
I think it was only Barbara and Jingles that were consistently also reading longer books. I know that I did change my reading habits a bit and read shorter books. For next go round, if there are "chunkster" points from the beginning, I will just read to my list.

I'm already preparing for Round III. I'm making a list of chunkster books, books that can be turned into Cut Throat, etc. I also decided maybe I should look into anthologies, since at the very end there, we needed some really short stories.
I know that things will probably not be the same in Round III as in Round II, but at least I can make some preparation for going into Round III. If I need it, I'll have it. If not, no harm done. It certainly can't hurt to prepare. Lol.

I'm thinking like monopoly or chutes & ladders which are basically scavenger hunts. So cut throats and chunksters may not matter. Just a thought.
Oh and I'll keep tagging as well.

I kept forgetting to tag them too, so I made it a point to check each book listed on my "2013 month" shelf for the TT tag a couple times a week just to make sure I got them all.

I am wondering how they are going to do the next round, it sounds very interesting and the mods are very creative in coming up with some of these things so I am very curious to see how they are going to take a board game and turn it into something that lasts months.

Anyway, I'm so happy that this is over. I grew up in Washington Illinois. My childhood home, neighborhood and grade school were all destroyed by the tornado. Luckily all of our close friends are safe and sound with minimal damage. Even though I haven't lived there in 35 years, I still can't seem to focus on other things right now :-(

It's definitely doable but like JoLene said. It involves tons of administrative work.

So sorry to hear that JoLene. Regardless of living away, its the place you grew up at people and place you know so it definitely hits harder than just hearing of a tragedy on the news. Glad to know that your friends are safe and sound.

Nice games! Now you are tempting me to other groups and join even more challenges...lol...RRRC did a snakes and ladders game too.. It was fun! It was designed for individuals, not team based.

My version, people were playing on their own board --- so if they landed on a property that they owned, they would get "rent". People could take a turn every day. I had about 25 people playing and if I didn't validate every day or every other day, it could get crazy out of control :-D
I spent a whole weekend, creating a spreadsheet that would automatically track everything, but you still had to go through people's turns and validate their books.
Thanks for all the well wishes. My family gives me a really hard time for living in CA now, but after Illinois, we moved to New Orleans (Katrina) and now my mom and brother live in Tuscaloosa (5 miles from huge tornado 2 years ago), so CA is looking pretty good (knock on wood).

That sounds neat JoLene. I love how you adopted it to suit you group. It takes a very clever person to do that effectively.

I am doing great. I finished my 195th book last night for the Tower Team II challenge. I had further to go than I thought I had. It will be interesting to see if I complete my goal (250 books) before the end of the year.
How is everyone else doing?

It's a good thing Tower Teams Challenge ended or I'd be no help at all to the team. :(

On that note, I hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Oh well, enjoy your holiday!
