 48 Hour<br />Puzzle Crazy

Cool Text: Logo and Graphics Generator

We've had the addition of a few new Teams,
Who are also sharing our TTRC dreams.

It only seems fair they should get a chance,
at all those puzzles that hold you, as well as entrance.

But I don't want to leave you out of the fun,
so you'll get an opportunity, too, at those NOT done.

I'll give extra hours to Banana Mania, Forest Green, and Pewter & Cadet Blue,
who also has a lot of members who are new, too.

Still, all the rest of you are granted forty-eight.
“Rev Your Engines!” to get a running start at the gate.

I've given you some important links below.
Remember, there are more links in Post #1, to the puzzles, you know?

Okay, 48 hours to you, and 72 hours for the Teams that are new.
I'm excited! Let me see how many cupcakes you can accrue.

Oh! By the way, your time starts now!
Stop reading this and get working. Holy Cow!

Here is where to post!

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments Mauvelous Mavens, the only puzzle we haven't done is 91, a slider.

I don't love sliders, but I can probably do it later today.....just for completeness :-)

message 505: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Have at it JoLene as I have hit my limit with the sliders. Too darn annoying.

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments OK -- I sent in Puzzle 91, so we are complete :-D

message 507: by jingles (new)

jingles Great, Jolene.

I tried several times with that one, but could never get it solved.

Thank you for hanging in there with it.

message 508: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments Yeah --- it was one of the ones that didn't work right when using my Chrome browser.

I did part of it while on the phone with my mom and then cooking dinner last night. In small doses it was better. And also I had to look up the cover because it wasn't laid out how I thought :-D

message 509: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Good job JoLene.
I know when I did them, I always had to look up the cover as doing it blind rarely worked out well. :)

The “Cutthroat Competitor Cupcake” is coming!

This is a cupcake that’s NOT fooling around.
Hard to conquer, but your BAPs will surely mound.

You thought the “Triple Threat” was hard to earn?
This one’s NOT vinegar; yet, neither is it sauterne.

This cupcake counts as ‘cuatro’ – which translates to four.
With a 350,000-word-endurance, these books are worth tons more.

This Captain will give you four BAPs to really increase your points.
After all that page turning, this isn’t one that disappoints.

Announcement:

With regards to “Cutthroat Competitor Cupcakes,” 350,000 words = 1,400 pages.

However, keep in mind that for some of the longer books they squeeze more words on per page. We go by word count first, when we can find it, then refer to WorldCat.

Sooooo... that is why sometimes you will see an 800 or 900 page book count as a “Cutthroat Competitor.”

Also, your Captain has a link to a list of approved books, to which we will continue to add. Thus far they are:
An American Tragedy
Atlas Shrugged)
A Breath of Snow and Ashes
The Civil War, Vol. 1: Fort Sumter to Perryville
The Count of Monte Cristo
A Dance With Dragons
The Fiery Cross
A Storm of Swords
It
Les Misérables
Sacajawea
Voyager
The Wise Man's Fear

message 516: by jingles (new)

jingles Oooooh, I'm getting ready to read The Fiery Cross pretty soon.

Barbara ★ Ok puzzle 136, 137, 138 and 139 were posted today. These Mods are getting diabolical.

137 and 139 are nasty jigsaws which I love so I'll tackle them. But I'll work on 137 first so if someone wants to do 139 go ahead. I'll check back before starting it.
139: (remember to change the pieces to 247 piece triangles) http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

136 is a Spot the Differences

138 is one of those killer encrypted quotes specifically for JoLene ;)

I also did 136

Now for the encrypted one....

message 520: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ I finished 137 and am moving onto 139. Go have fun with #138 JoLene as you're the only one who can actually do it.

message 521: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 705 comments I finished 138.....I like the jigsaws as well, but with so many pieces those are tough.

There is another encryption as well.

message 522: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ In case you get bored JoLene, the Mods just posted #140 - another encrypted quote. You definitely have your work cut out for you.

JoLene wrote: "Although I have to say its a bit of a pain to keep having to trade -up."

I doubt very seriously if there will be any more 'trade ups.' It isn't fun for us, either. That is why there is such a big jump to the "Cutthroat" and why it is worth so much more.

Thanks Hina but it's one of those that works better (for my anyway) just to say the names out loud and when I hear a repeat I make a tick mark. Only took about an hour to complete.

I am fine with Readathons....its easier not to have to plan anything except what we were already planning on reading during that time....definitely less restrictive.

I can't believe we are already coming so close to the holiday...I am already seeing ads/promotion for holiday shopping and its not even October.

Yup! I am actually dreading the closer we get to the holidays! Then the radio will play nothing but christmas music and at work we are tuned into it. I like christmas music as the next person, but 8 hours at work listening to that for a month drives me crazy.

Yes, I would think so.

message 541: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Especially, since you can't pick your type of Christmas music.

message 542: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Lisa Kay wrote: "Especially, since you can't pick your type of Christmas music."

Nope...and at work we are very unfortunate in terms of finding a good station without static...so the only good radio station without static that does not have the whole office in an uproar tends to play way too many christmas music during the holidays....I can literally pinpoint the day it happens. lol.

message 543: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Ugh. Every type of music genre out there has Christmas music. I wouldn't be very happy if I had to work to one I didn't particularly like.

message 544: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Music can energize you - if you "feel" it. I probably wouldn't be very productive with one I did't like. LOL!

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments Lisa Kay wrote: "Music can energize you - if you "feel" it. I probably wouldn't be very productive with one I did't like. LOL!"

I know...we get the classical music station static free, but only me and another co worker like classical music, while everybody complained that it was putting them to sleep. I have just gotten better at tuning out the radio altogether.

message 546: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Oh! I LOVE classical music. It is all I listen to in the car, unless it is an audiobook.

This one would keep them awake:

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 2120 comments Just lurking here for a bit but Lowe's (a home improvement and appliance store for those who don't know) has the Christmas trees up.

K-mart (department store) started running lay-away commercials last week. It's way too early for Christmas!

message 549: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 884 comments LOL....I have been seeing Halloween stuff since last month....I mean who starts preparing for Halloween that early, unless maybe you are doing a haunted house or something.
