Kat | 1178 comments Peeps, I have to say how great a group you all are!

My German bookclub is fighting among themselves about how someone worded something in some post or whatnot for the 4th or 5th time since I joined them - and that was after I joined you.

I like that we have no fights here and that the atmosphere in the group is so great.

Thank you everyone, I love being here!

message 955: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments Oh yeah :-)

message 956: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments I’m gluten intolerant. Why do you have to keep talking about cookies?

message 957: by Kat (last edited Dec 30, 2017 08:08AM) (new)

Kat | 1178 comments I'm sure there is a cookie for you out there....

....actually, I have a cookie recipe for cookies made out of eggs, almonds, butter, sugar and milk. No flour. They're glorious.

message 958: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments Well that cookie fight didn’t last long.

Kat | 1178 comments HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE !!!!

I celebrated with a good friend on the balcony of my flat. Private fireworks in the neighbourhood lasted a solid 40 minutes - there was so much smoke everywhere you couldn't see the other side of the street.

Trust the Germans to make fireworks illegal on 364 says a year, but then blast a fortune into the air on the one night they're allowed to. People just gather on the streets and shoot rockets into the air in front of every house.

For a moment we were panicking a bit because we couldn't get the cork on the bubbly to budge. In the end I just left the bottle on the kitchen counter and went back to party in the front room. 10 minutes later there was a very loud POPP! in the kitchen. I still haven't found the cork (which left a mark on the ceiling), but at least we have bubbly now!

I hope you're all having great parties, wherever you celebrate!

I'm probably going to celebrate by sleeping

Sumant | 522 comments I just drunk a combination of Rum+Bourbon and spent the afternoon in bathroom.

Mark | 482 comments Was in bed asleep, have a chest infection on antibiotics so no alcohol.

message 968: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments I was asleep too - just took my last antibiotics yesterday, but I'm still needing a ton more sleep than usual. I'm sure it was New Year somewhere though =)

message 969: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments Awwww, get better soon you two!

message 970: by Sky (new)

Sky | 1291 comments I was also sick Christmas - New Years. Chugged some Nyquil and was asleep by 8:30 :)

message 971: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments After 4 years of abstinence I have logged into WoW again.

Found that everyone is 18 levels higher than me and I'm no longer top dog. Guild: the officers have not robbed me blind, which is nice. There seems to be a single guildie still active, but I haven't caught him online yet.

Been flying around Pandaria doing fishing dailies on my hunter, and sent my druid to Uldum to farm crocodile leather so my mage can learn leatherworking. Not sure if I really want to go level...

I really enjoyed Legion, but I kind of burned out in the last few months. I was pushing to earn a bunch of stuff for my artifact weapon, and now that I have most of the (missing 1 that requires raiding and 1 that requires rated PVP battlegrounds) I've cut back to 2 nights week when I run with other people

message 973: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments :) I was ending up with not enough time to play once the semester started so I cancelled my subscription. But I do miss it. I've been doing the dungeon runs in Hearthstone sometimes for a quick fix. But its not the same :)

message 974: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) Anyone else playing Horizon: Zero Dawn? I got it for Christmas and I'm a little bit obsessed.

message 975: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) I also got Horizon: Zero Dawn for Christmas. I haven't played it that much (had to finish Uncharted 4, as well) but its very good.

message 976: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) I may have screamed a tiny bit once when I encountered one of the bigger machines in the game.

message 977: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) I'm still very much avoiding conflict if there's more than one big machine. it's the right level of difficulty

message 978: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) I avoid where I can as well, especially the bigger ones. HZD is pretty much all my favorite things about games. Big world, cool enemies (robot dinosaurs are just neat), third-person, interesting story. It's been a real problem in my life that I'm happy to have (see: not reading, workouts suffering).

message 979: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) I don't think I'm very far into the story yet. I can't wait to figure out where the robot dinosaurs came from.

message 980: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) I'm just discovering that now (I always end up ignoring the main questline in any open world game and get distracted by side quests). The stuff I'm doing says level 16 or something and I'm level 30. Oops.

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
I'm playing Mario Odyssey and Overwatch (and WoW of course). I doubt that game will make it to the Switch anyways.

message 982: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) I'm only about level 16 right now.n early in the story but still lots fun

message 983: by Kat (last edited Jan 17, 2018 04:04AM) (new)

Kat | 1178 comments Well, I got a surprise today.

I have a new computer, and until it's all set up properly and all my files copied over, I have the old one still sitting next to it. I thought it was the perfect opportunity to run 2 instances of wow at the same time, and activate my second account so I could mail any items and gold I still have on there to my current account, and invite my own characters into the bank guilds I had on the other account.

I have 2 accounts because I used to dual-box a pala and a priest. (actually, I have 4 accounts, but that's a different story.)

So I bought a one-off subscription for a single month, log on, and - aside from the old dualboxing priest, I find a lvl 80 shaman. WTF?! I could have sworn I never rolled a shaman in my life. He must be older than my last 3 relationships....

Geoff (geoffgreer) @Dara - I hate all flying robots in Horizon. They are all massive pains in the ass.

I just posted this in the Sword and Laser discussion threads, but if anyone here has any tips to help me find sci-fi art prints that I can put on my walls, I'm all ears.

There was a thread I created awhile ago in S&L that had some good suggestions if I recall. Of course I never followed through on any of them. Oops.

Geoff (geoffgreer) I probably posted in that thread too.

Here it is:

Where to buy SFF paintings or prints suitable for framing

I've avoided most stormbirds but glinthawks really are a pain in the ass. They're always in packs and they're hard when you're at lower levels. I think they're my most annoying machines to fight.

I have questions.
