those titles are so confusing - I'm actually waiting for the third book right now. Overall I really loved the first two. I also couldn't put that first one down! Enjoy :)

That's pretty awesome!

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments I finished Through the Woods by Emily Carroll this morning. A good, creepy comic read. Quite enjoyed it.

I decided I'm gonna read The Queen of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #1) by Erika Johansen next since I got lucky to get it before people at the library started putting holds on it.

You just made me like her more haha.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments I finished The Queen of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #1) by Erika Johansen last night. Really liked it, but in this particular story that had a lot more to do with plot than character. I will say, I heard Emma Watson is supposed to play the lead character in a movie and I just cannot see that.

Then this morning I read 3 of the 6 Amulet graphic novels Amulet, Vol. 1 The Stonekeeper (Amulet, #1) by Kazu Kibuishi Amulet, Vol. 2 The Stonekeeper's Curse (Amulet, #2) by Kazu Kibuishi Amulet, Vol. 3 The Cloud Searchers (Amulet, #3) by Kazu Kibuishi I don't know how many of you guys read comics/gn's, but this series would technically count as YA and has an awesome female lead many seem to be in search of. Plus it's just so good.

Up next I'll probably read The Blade of Shattered Hope (The 13th Reality, #3) by James Dashner

message 1260: by Wren (new)

Wren (wrenlee) I'm reading:
'City of Savages' by Lee Kelly right now
I just finished 'The Playlist for the Dead' by Michelle Falkoff. I'm not sure about it. I really don't know. It's only...okay.

message 1261: by Jessi (new)

Jessi (jessilovesbooks) | 364 comments I'm reading Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard and it's definitely living up to the hype! I seriously wish I didn't have to prep for class tomorrow so I could just read!

Good standalones are so hard to find! But I totally understand wanting to stay away from series - I have like a hundred started (that's actually probably not an exaggeration!).

Krystal (sapphirehodge) | 3 comments I just finished Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira and now reading Doon (Doon, #1) by Carey Corp and Opposition (Lux, #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

message 1271: by Alison (new)

Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 525 comments Not sure what to read. I wanted to start the monstermologist but I am not in the mood for a series. I am supposed to be getting a cold legacy today so I may read that and then the red queen. Then wonder, then the monstermologist, sounds like a plan :)

message 1272: by Jessi (new)

Jessi (jessilovesbooks) | 364 comments I'm almost finished with Unteachable by Leah Raeder which is not my normal kind of book, but it's so good. I still haven't finished In The Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken - I'm just not into it. Very disappointing because I loved the previous two books. I'm definitely going to finish it because it's the last one and I only have like 100 pages left. And then...? Not sure. Just got Still Point (Awaken, #3) by Katie Kacvinsky from the library so that'll probably be next.

message 1273: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments I finished reading The Blade of Shattered Hope (The 13th Reality, #3) by James Dashner last night and am still enjoying the series a lot. One more book left.

I started Theodosia and the Staff of Osiris (Theodosia Throckmorton, #2) by R.L. LaFevers this morning. I liked the first book, but really debated whether or not I'd keep reading the series. A couple chapters in and I'm already glad I did. Instantly liked it better than book 1.

Keep reading Theo's books. The last three are pretty good. Theo is a great character.

And if you like the author, she has another children's series and now has an awesome YA trilogy about Mortain's (aka Death's) assassins in medieval Brittany (a duchy that's now part of modern France).

I just finished In The Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken - I didn't like it nearly as much as the first two. If it hadn't been the last book in the series, I doubt I would have even finished it.

Yeah, I finished the book this morning and liked it a lot. I'll be reading the next book for sure and will definitely look up more by the author if I end up liking the series as much as I think I might.

With all the want for good female mains I see about, I'm really shocked this series isn't more popular. Theodosia is an amazing character.

Yes! She's tough, but not one of those too-tough heroines who can do no wrong. She messes up sometimes, but she's still pretty awesome! Totally worth reading!

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments I finished Theodosia and the Staff of Osiris (Theodosia Throckmorton, #2) by R.L. LaFevers this morning. Really, really liked it. I debated whether to continue or not after book one. So glad I did. I'll read more in the series before deciding how strongly i recommend the series, but this book was awesome.

Up next, finishing off the 13th Reality series with The Void of Mist and Thunder (The 13th Reality #4) by James Dashner :)

message 1294: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca McCray (RebPai) | 19 comments I finished Allegiant (Divergent, #3) by Veronica Roth last night. While I agree that it was sad, it was the right way to end it. If the author had taken any other route, it would have been forced. I give her credit for recognizing that and carrying it through. Certain things are exhausting to write and that must have been torture for her.

Omg! You lucky girl!! I randomly picked up a signed copy of Vampire Academy at a library book fair - I didn't even realize it was signed until I almost gave it away because I hadn't realized I already had a copy.
I'm impatiently waiting for it to come in at the library. I seem to be impatiently waiting for a lot of books right now!

You should totally read Red Queen asap - it's really good!

I'm still working my way through all the Harry Potters on audiobook. I'm almost finished with the last one. I still don't love it as much as everyone else, but it's enjoyable.

Exactly how I felt! I was kind of shocked with the amount of people who hated the ending, only because it cemented the trilogy as a top notch trilogy for me. I liked all the books, but that ending made me want to read whatever Veronica Roth puts out next.

That's interesting that people hated it. Everything that happened was completely "in character." The funny thing is that the actual moment didn't bother me at all. It was the impact on the other characters that I found sad. I suppose that's typical of life, though.

That's how I felt about it as well. I don't mean to insult anyone who disliked it, but I think (view spoiler)
