Even though our opinions on Cinder vary drastically, I highly recommend either The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater or The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness (assuming you haven't read either, of course).

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments The other night I finished a couple books

The Alchemyst (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #1) by Michael Scott which took a bit to get into and felt a bit more info-dumpy at parts than I thought necessary, but ultimately I enjoyed it.

&

Zot! by Scott McCloud which, if you're a comics fan, I absolutely recommend, but if not, I don't think it's essential reading.

I'll probably start The Magician (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #2) by Michael Scott by tomorrow night.

message 1205: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Luu (lovelucyluu) | 7 comments I just finished The Pledge by Kimberly Derting which was intriguing and I am now currently reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvator.

message 1206: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments Finished The Magician (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #2) by Michael Scott a couple nights ago. I liked it a bit more than The Alchemyst.

I'll start The Sorceress (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #3) by Michael Scott tonight or tomorrow.

Ender's Game was great. I haven't read any of the other books, though.

message 1209: by Madi (new)

Madi Just finished Blue Lily, Lily Blue. Looooved it. I want Raven Boys ;)

Quarter of my way through Rose Under Fire. I loved Code Name Verity but this one is kinda slow :/

I have to read but the movie put me off of it.

I've started that but I'm having a hard time getting into it. :/ I've heard it's amazing though, so I'm going to stick with it!

message 1215: by Hanna (new)

Hanna (hanawe1) | 44 comments Same here! The first chapters were REALLY slow...

message 1216: by Wren (new)

Wren (wrenlee) I finished 'Pinned'. For BoB. About to move onto a sports story. 'Second Impact'

message 1217: by BriAnna (new)

BriAnna | 98 comments Reading Matched!

message 1218: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments Finished The Sorceress (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #3) by Michael Scott and liked it about as much as the first two, which is enough to finish the series, but not enough to get too excited about it. Really recommend it for readers in their tweens-early teens years.

Next up, Legacy (Legacy #1) by Ellery A. Kane which I got for an R2R.

message 1219: by Wren (new)

Wren (wrenlee) I finished 'The Night Circus' yesterday, and I'm starting 'The Walled City'

message 1222: by Linnea (new)

Linnea (bluepie1011) I'm currently reading In the Afterlight by: Alexandra Bracken. I'm having some trouble getting into it though.

message 1223: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments Just finished reading Legacy (Legacy #1) by Ellery A. Kane I really liked it. Fun and short, and a fresh take on the dystopian genre. Definitely worth a look.

Tonight, I'll finally start Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater :D

message 1224: by Jessi (new)

Jessi (jessilovesbooks) | 364 comments I haven't been reading as much as usual lately because I've been so sick (I'm getting sinus surgery on Tuesday and I'm hoping that puts me back to normal!). And I've been a very restless reader - I keep switching books even more than normal!
Anyway, right now I'm about halfway through In The Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken , which I'm really enjoying. I'd forgotten what a great series that is!
And then I started I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson yesterday because I wanted something lighter and it's perfect.
And I'm still audiobooking my way through Harry Potter. I'm almost finished with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5) by J.K. Rowling . I enjoy it but I'm not as obsessed as most people! lol

I looved the Raven Cycle! The covers are gorgeous too :)

message 1226: by Madi (new)

Madi Just finished reading The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1) by Marie Lu . Personally, I thought Legend was better. However, the characters were interesting because they definitely were not your typical benevolent/nobel/heart of gold characters. Sometimes I feel like authors just tack on some lame characters flaws to make them seem more "complex", but they're still unrealistically perfect. But Adelina and Ezno are truly a mix of good and evil.

message 1227: by Jessi (new)

Jessi (jessilovesbooks) | 364 comments I liked that aspect of The Young Elites too. But yeah, I still liked Legend more - I just never like fantasy settings as much as dystopian. :)

message 1230: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments I just finished Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater It was probably my least favorite of the series so far, but still just fantastic. Stiefvater's a beast!

I don't know what to read next. I'm torn between The Hunt for Dark Infinity (The 13th Reality, #2) by James Dashner (I have books 3 and 4 as well) Avatar The Last Airbender - The Promise by Gene Luen Yang and The Spindlers by Lauren Oliver

message 1231: by Laura (acquariusgb) (new)

Laura (acquariusgb) (acquariusgb) Hi, I'm a new member of the group. I'm currently reading Catalyst (Insignia #3) by S.J. Kincaid.

Loved the first two books.

I am reading the second book to that series and so far I have loved it!

Amber Morrison (ambermorrisontheblondewriter) | 2 comments Hey everyone! I just joined too :)

I loved the Delirium trilogy! I'm also starting Marie Lu's Legend Series next week. I just finished reading Snow Like Ashes (which I LOVED!) and I started Ally Condie's Atlantia today.

message 1236: by Jamie (new)

Jamie (jmarsden55) | 28 comments I loved the legend series! I think you will really enjoy it. How is Atlanta so far??

message 1237: by Amber (new)

Amber Morrison (ambermorrisontheblondewriter) | 2 comments Jamie wrote: "I loved the legend series! I think you will really enjoy it. How is Atlanta so far??"

So far, it seems disjointed. The chapters don't immediately follow up where the previous ended, and it takes a while to explain the events in between. I'm only 40 pages in, so hopefully Rio (the protagonist) starts acting more in between the major events.

I'm excited to start Legend though! I've heard great things about that series :)

Jessi (jessilovesbooks) | 364 comments Welcome to the group everyone!!

message 1239: by Betty (new)

Betty Cross (bettycross) | 70 comments Legend was terrific, and the other two books meet the same standard. Champion (the 3rd) was a stronger trilogy-ender than Mockingjay, to me.

Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 525 comments Hello new members!!! Man, legend and delirium were the first few series I started reading once I got into reading ya. Once I've read a good chunk of my tbr list I wanna do a ton of rereads :)

message 1242: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments I finished A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness and don't really know what to say other than: Oh. My. God!
Patrick Ness is a wizard.

Up next The Hunt for Dark Infinity (The 13th Reality, #2) by James Dashner (the cover on the book I have from the library is better).

message 1243: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca McCray (RebPai) | 19 comments I'm working my way through a fantasy/mystery, The Cactus Killer by Jeremy Croston I'd say, original so far. Loving the characters.

message 1244: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (gentlebean) Overall, I loved Legend as a series but that last book was a disappointment. Mainly that dramatic finish...

Right now, I'm tearing through Golden Son (Red Rising Trilogy, #2) by Pierce Brown . It's every bit as amazing as Red Rising (Red Rising Trilogy, #1) by Pierce Brown ! Can't wait to read the ending of book two...terrible to think I'll have to wait again for the final book.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments Just finished The Hunt for Dark Infinity (The 13th Reality, #2) by James Dashner Really fun read. Better than the first book. The writing isn't the strongest, but the stories are fun and easy to get into to.

Up next I'll start Through the Woods by Emily Carroll and probably The Spindlers by Lauren Oliver

Maggie Stiefvater is the best. She's a crazy whackjob sometimes, though. (She made a video of her playing the ukulele to explain how to say her last name.)
