Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments I finished The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater last night. Oh my GLOB I loved this book! I recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it.

Then I read My Haunted House (Araminta Spookie, #1) by Angie Sage a short children's book, mainly because I like to put a little space between books in a series I am reading. It was decent.

Up next, The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater which I'll be starting tonight or tomorrow :)

'The Raven Boys' is a fantastic book. I love the series. You should look out for 'Blue Lily, Lily Blue' the third book in the Raven Cycle.

Ooh. That's a good book. The sequel is a bit disappointing, in my opinion. But the first book is quite good.
Enjoy!

message 1110: by Wren (new)

Wren (wrenlee) I'm reading:
'United We Spy' by Ally Carter.
I started this series two years ago or so. It was pretty good. The last book wasn't out yet, though, two years ago. So I finally got the chance to finish the series.
It's a non-dystopian series about spies and girls in a spy school. It's a bit...childish in the voices of the narrator Cammie, but I still think I have a bit of enjoyment out of it.

I just finished the Raven Boys and loved it! I've been dying to go to Tattered Covers and pick up the next one. When does "Blue Lily, Lily Blue" come out?

Right? So good! It took me a bit to warm up to the characters(except Adam), but that just made me like the story more.

And I THINK Blue Lily, Lily Blue comes out the 21st of this month, but I could be wrong. I know it's right around then, though.

EDIT: Just checked, and, yes, it comes out on the 21st. So just over 2 weeks from now :)

I'm like 50 pages in and it's already living up to book 1. I really recommend.

I really liked that series!!

I'm in the middle of too many books. Again. Sigh, I just get bored too easily and have too many books on my kindle that I want to read! I'm just about finished with My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga , which is kind of morbid, but I like it. And I'm going to start The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1) by Marie Lu probably tomorrow. I loved Legend, so I'm sure it'll be awesome.

message 1122: by Alison (new)

Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 525 comments yes! I'm waiting for the young elites! they haven't shipped it yet ergg :( which is OK I guess I'm reading the second book in the daughter of smoke andnbome right now.

message 1123: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments I just finished The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater and OMG I am loving the Raven Cycle series! 10 more days until book 3 comes out :)

Going to start The Mysterious Howling (The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place #1) by Maryrose Wood tomorrow. I don't know what it's about, but I saw it at the library and loved the cover so went ahead and picked it up.

message 1124: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments I recently came to the conclusion that, since I am a very easily satisfied person in terms of entertainment, I will start discarding books that don't capture my interest within the first few chapters(a very easy thing to do, really) and moving along to the next rather than continuing with hopes that I'll enjoy it more along the way. Unfortunately, The Mysterious Howling (The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place #1) by Maryrose Wood has fallen victim to this philosophy after three chapters :/

So, I moved along to The Vengekeep Prophecies by Brian Farrey Four chapters in and I'm already really enjoying it :)

message 1125: by Wren (new)

Wren (wrenlee) I'm reading Far Dawn by Kevin Emerson! (It's just okay. I have to read my e-book too.)
My e-book is Meritropolis. Or something like that...

message 1126: by Alison (new)

Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 525 comments tommy for some reason. I can't do that lol. its too hard. I'm always scared I may miss out and also I feel horrible not finishing a series even if I have to skim through it. I didn't like the chaos walking series until k got 100 pages in. but I really disliked partials series all the way through, each book. with the daughter of smoke and bone I liked the first one OK, but I love this second book. I know I'm weird, but its so hard for me to it finish a book even If I don't really like.it.

message 1127: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments Alison wrote: "tommy for some reason. I can't do that lol. its too hard. I'm always scared I may miss out and also I feel horrible not finishing a series even if I have to skim through it. I didn't like the chaos..."

I used to be the same way. I'd read all the way through a series, no matter how many books, even if I absolutely could not stand the books. Then one day, I had a thought. The exact quote that hit me was "One day, I'm gonna die. And I will have missed out on reading books I might have loved because I dedicated so many hours to reading books I didn't care for" haha.
Also, it takes very, very little to keep my interest and and hook me for the whole story, so if that doesn't happen within 50, 60 pages(I always give at least 3 chapters before I call it quits) it's likely the story isn't for me. I'll still recommend it to people I think may like it, though.

I don't read a lot of spooky books, but I did like Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) by Kendare Blake - that'd be a good fall read!

Jessi (jessilovesbooks) | 364 comments BriAnna wrote: "Starting Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Stone! Tommy and Alison have had me excited about this! "

They've been talking it up so much, right?? lol I still haven't gotten around to the second book - I think I'm going to do them all as audiobooks so I have to wait for it be available from the library.

I'm reading The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1) by Marie Lu and it's really good, but I'm having a hard time getting into it. I'm still sick so I think my foggy brain is just having a hard time grasping a fantasy world. So I've been reading a few mindless contemporaries as well. Just finished Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss, #3) by Stephanie Perkins which I liked way more than the first two books. I'll probably start Earth & Sky (Earth & Sky, #1) by Megan Crewe today during my boring lunch shift.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments Finished The Vengekeep Prophecies by Brian Farrey last night and just loved it. I highly recommend it.

I think I'm gonna start The Journal of Curious Letters (The 13th Reality, #1) by James Dashner later today. Take a gander at what Dashner did pre-Maze Runner.

message 1145: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 196 comments I finished The Journal of Curious Letters (The 13th Reality, #1) by James Dashner last night. Really fun read. Gives you a lot of action, and a nice little bit of fun puzzles to ponder as Tick tries to solve them. I recommend.

Up next, The Dark Hills Divide (The Land of Elyon, #1) by Patrick Carman

I loved 13th reality! It was fun trying to solve the puzzles with the characters :)

message 1147: by Madi (new)

Madi Just finished Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer . Thought it was really good, but not great. However, I did put Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer on my TBR list and I will read it as soon as I have time (in other words, as soon as I'm done with applying to college stuff :/ )

message 1148: by Alison (new)

I loved feeling silly when the answers I couldn't figure out were so obvious once the characters did haha.

message 1150: by Heather (new)

Heather (hersecretsmile) | 49 comments Madi, The Lunar Chronicles is one of those series that keeps on getting better the farther you get into the series. :)

Alison, I LOVED Dreams of Gods and Monsters, definitely one of my top reads of this year.
