Rachel | 3524 comments post all of your comments/questions/updates regarding the spring challenge in this thread. hope you all enjoy it!

The spring challenge will be from march 7th- may 31st.

the rules:

read 3 books (or more)
complete 3 tasks (or more)
books can be any genre
re-reads are ok

1. march 9th is panic day and april 1st is april fool's day- so this spring:

a. read a HORROR novel

or

b. read a FUNNY book

2. march 17th is st. patrick's day- so this spring:

read a book SET AT LEAST IN PART IN IRELAND

3. march 30th is doctor's day- so this spring:

read a book in which ONE OF THE CHARACTERS WORKS IN THE MEDICAL PROFESSION

4. april 22nd is earth day- so this spring:

read a book in which the letters E-A-R-T-H appear in the title (these letters don't have to be in order)

5. may 1st is law day- so this spring:

read a book in which the MAIN CHARACTER IS A LAWYER

6. may 11th is eat what you want day- so this spring:

a. read a book that features a FOOD ITEM IN THE TITLE

or

b. read a book in which THE MAIN CHARACTER WORKS WITH FOOD

7. as mentioned previously, earth day and st. patrick's day are both celebrated this season- but did you know that pickles are celebrated in may lol- so this spring:

read a book with a GREEN COVER (post the cover)

8. random task- (this task counts toward the challenge but is not inspired by the season)- do you remember when you first joined goodreads and your tbr was tiny? if your like me your tbr is now a mountain and you've forgotten to read some of those early books that you added- so this spring:

read a book FROM THE 1ST PAGE OF YOUR TBR

hope all my challenge buddies will join me once more and we always welcome new participants- look forward to chatting with all of you and adding to my tbr mountain lol

HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE :D

Possible reads for this challenge.

1) The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice (Horror)
2) Ummm... not quite sure what to read for this one
3) City of the Snakes by Darren Shan (Features doctors within the story... if I don't finish it today. LOL)
4) inTERview witH the vAmpire by Anne Rice
5) Also not sure about what I should read.
6) The Celery Stalks At Midnight by James Howe
7) The Bourne Supremacy (Jason Bourne, #2) by Robert Ludlum (Mine is a different cover but just as green as this one. lol)
8) Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice (Ironically its my first book I have added. XD)

I'll do some research on the one I am not sure about. And if you can't see, I have planned on reading Anne Rice's vampire novels. They are the next series I plan on tackling. =D

Christine | 798 comments Wow, Josh! You are so organized. You even have your books mapped out. Good for you!

message 5: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I have to be. I am moving but I want to continue reading while I am packing the house, starting this weekend. lol.

message 6: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments Good luck with the move. I feel for you. I had a big move back in October. Its never easy.

message 7: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments Thanks josh & christine :D

good luck with the move josh!

message 8: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Thanks, Christine and Rachel! =D The move isn't a big one, just moving a three miles from where I live now but we are packing stuff a month a head of time.

message 9: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments Sometimes the little moves are the worst. You are smart to prepare ahead of time.

message 10: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 140 comments read a book in which the letters E-A-R-T-H appear in the title
The Road to Grace by Richard Paul Evans.

Evans books are truly inspiring. Read one and you will want to read them all.

message 11: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments thanks for the recommendation tracy- just added it to my tbr

OMG Rachel, every book I have touched by this author has been so touching. He takes a real life bad situation and brings out the emotion to it. Hard to describe so let me know what you think of him. I have also read The Christmas list, The Gift, Grace and Road to Grace. All very inspiring.

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments By funny book do you mean a straight up comedy such as Bunnicula by James Howe or a book that has some humor in it such as Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz?

I sadly finished City of the Snakes in Feburary. =( lol. But it does feature a doctor in it so I highly recommend reading it for the challenge. lol. Its such a great novel. =D

the book should fall into the humor genre so sorry no odd thomas for this one ;)

Just curious since the book I am about to finish was humorous in the way Odd Thomas is. I don't think it would meet any other challenge, maybe the TBR challenge but I dont remember where it was on there before I put it as currently reading. lol.

maybe count it as horror?

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Rachel wrote: "maybe count it as horror?"
Nope, its an action adventure treasure hunting novel with some humor in it. Pacific Vortex! by Clive Cussler is the book. The book I am reading now has a green cover but ONCE again Goodreads doesnt have the same cover but there is a different green one that they do have. The Mediterranean Caper (Dirk Pitt, #2) by Clive Cussler

Well, the Horror task will be an easy one. I will probably read several of those :-) I've already read The Voice of the Night this month
The Voice of the Night by Dean Koontz

one of those silly holidays you can find on the internet

apparently in honor of the stress most of us experience- panic day is supposed to be a day where you try to relax and not let get things get to you

message 27: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I just finished The Voice of the Night I think those of us who are also in the Koontzland group are all using this book as our horror choice.

I'm using lots of Koontz books for my horror choice :-) will have to find 2 other tasks I can do also. A Green Cover should be pretty easy I would think - I can probably handle that one. Guess it's time to check out the first page of my GR TBR page - that could be scary......

Perfect!!! I found a book on page one of my To Read List!!! Since it's under 100 pages I think I can read it all by myself with my own two eyes without an audiobook. I think I can. I think I can.

The Green Mile, Part 1 The Two Dead Girls by Stephen King

.... and I just happened to have bought this at the thrift store a couple of months ago - must have been fate :-) There are no coincidences.

message 41: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I fell in love with Bradley Cooper because of this movie. I hear he is making another one with Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russell, the director from Silver Linings Playbook.

Sounds like all the ingredients for another great one!

message 43: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments i've heard that too

he actually seems like a sweet guy- he & robert deniro both got really emotional when interviewed about the movie- it seemed to really affect both of them

i have a feeling robert deniro's part in the movie is going to differ somewhat from the book- (i really couldn't stand the dad in the book)

message 44: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I finished Defending Jacob by William Landay last night. The main character is a lawyer, an assistant district attorney to be exact and his 14 year old son gets accused of murdering one of his classmates. This book brings up all kinds of ethical questions and keeps you guessing as to what really happened until the end.

message 47: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) Grrrr I have already added one book to the challenge and it isn't coming up. I have it marked on the shelf for the challenge it no it doesn't want to show up on my challenge thing. Grrr

message 48: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments i think that happened to nora during the summer challenge- if i remember correctly she deleted herself from the challenge and then re-signed up for the same challenge and it worked. good reads and its crazy glitches :O

message 49: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) Tell me about it! All right I'll try that then

message 50: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) I've left the challenge three times and its still not working...whatever I'm over it.
